Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 805: Chapter 805 Conflicting Emotions

”It seems that Professor Cheng has prepared in advance,” Yan Ye said with a smile. ”That place is indeed very poor, and the medical level is quite backward. If we go, we need to communicate with the local medical facilities first, then carry our medicine boxes down and choose a town hospital or a village to station ourselves. But let me remind you, the process will be very challenging. Professor Cheng, are you really up for it?”

”Of course,” Cheng Yu responded, patting his chest, ”I have no problems. After all, I have been to the Vietnamese battlefield before.”

”Great. Then it’s settled.”

...............................

Three weeks flew by, and before they knew it, vacation time had arrived.

The day before, their dormitory mates were all abuzz.

”I heard that Teacher Yan is still taking us to remote areas with inadequate medical care for volunteer work this year,” Lei Linxuan said while packing her luggage and talking to An Hao.

Now that the two of them were in the same laboratory, they had more and more topics to discuss.

”What about it? Did Teacher Yan invite you to go with him?” An Hao asked Lei Linxuan casually while she organized her notes.

”Yes, he did. But I can’t go. My dad isn’t in good health and just had surgery. I need to go back and take care of him!” Lei Linxuan said regretfully, ”If I could go with Teacher Yan, I would definitely learn a lot.”

”I’m so envious of you guys. To be invited by Teacher Yan, unlike me, who he doesn’t even notice,” Zhang Juan said in frustration.

Lei Linxuan didn’t pick up on Zhang Juan’s comment. Ever since she entered the lab, she talked more and more with An Hao, and the distance between her and Zhang Juan had gradually widened.

She continued to ask An Hao, ”Are you planning to go?”

”No, I’m not going,” An Hao said. ”I’m going to visit my family in the army and take the opportunity to study the content for the next semester of grade twelve.”

”How lucky!” Gu Shuangshuang said anxiously, ”Tian Niu hasn’t written to me in a while. I want to visit the army to see what’s going on with him. But, I guess I won’t be able to go, my mom is keeping an eye on me. She said she would come pick me up early tomorrow morning.”

”Then you should obediently go home. Leave me your new home address. After I visit Tian Niu in the army, I’ll ask him to write to you,” An Hao replied.

”That’s the only way,” Gu Shuangshuang sighed. However, she wasn’t content with that and planned to find an opportunity to sneak out and go to the army to find Tian Niu.

After hearing their conversation, Guan Kexin left without a word and slammed the door on her way downstairs.

”Look at the temper of that princess. Did our discussion just now get in her way again?” Gu Shuangshuang complained, ”I really look forward to being away from her. Seeing her every day is like owing her money.”

”Why not just ignore her if you see her?” An Hao laughed and continued to bury her head in her studies.

Seeing her eagerness to seize every moment to read, Gu Shuangshuang sighed deeply, ”An Hao, why do I feel like the distance between us is growing? Can you stop studying for a moment? I’m feeling a bit down; can we chat?”

”Alright,” An Hao put away her textbook, ready to talk to An Hao, but suddenly heard someone calling for Gu Shuangshuang from downstairs. The voice was so loud; it sounded like a broken gong.

”Gu Shuangshuang, come down! Gu Shuangshuang, hurry up and come down!”

Gu Shuangshuang leaned over the balcony for a look and saw that it was Li Zhi and Cheng Yue, who appeared to be drunk, barely able to stand straight.
