Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 696: Chapter 695: A Jade Bracelet

”What is this?” An Hao was somewhat puzzled and turned her head to glance at Qin Jian, who also shook his head.

Liu Junping took off her shoes, climbed onto the kang bed, and rummaged through a large chest set upon it, taking out something wrapped in a piece of red cloth.

She came to An Hao, unfolded the cloth, and revealed a jade bracelet with a lush green hue, ”This bracelet is for you!”

Though An Hao didn’t understand jade, she could tell at a glance that the object was of great quality.

But Li Junping offering this thing to her was genuinely surprising, ”For me?”

”Yes, for you!” she said, handing the bracelet towards An Hao, ”This is a Qin Family heirloom; I’m not sure exactly which era it’s from, but I only know it was given by my mother-in-law’s mother-in-law to my mother-in-law, and then my mother-in-law gave it to me.”

So, indeed, the item had some history to it.

It might even be worth a fortune.

”No, no, no! I can’t accept this!” An Hao hastily refused, ”You should keep it!”

After all, she wasn’t Qin Jian’s wife in the strictest sense.

Qin Jian had seen the bracelet before; as a child, he had seen Li Junping take it out once, saying it was to be saved for his future wife.

However, before his identity was revealed, he was a member of the Qin Family.

Now... he feared it would not be proper for An Hao to accept it.

”What? You think my thing is of low quality?” Li Junping feigned anger upon seeing An Hao’s reluctance to accept.

”That’s not what I mean. The bracelet might be very valuable. Mom, you should keep it yourself.”

”Are you afraid I’ll regret it? Or do you think you’re not worthy to be my Qin family’s daughter-in-law?” Li Junping finished speaking, grabbed An Hao’s hand, and slipped the bracelet onto her wrist, ”An Hao, you must keep this; it can’t end up in Qin Fen and his wife’s hands. They would surely sell this bracelet and squander everything. In my eyes, I have long regarded you as my daughter-in-law. You’ve helped the Qin family so much, this piece also ought to be yours. If you ever encounter any difficulties or if you’re short of money, sell it.”

Having said so much, Liu Junping also seemed very sincere.

Uncertain of what to do, An Hao sought Qin Jian’s opinion with her gaze. Seeing him nod, she accepted, ”Don’t worry! I’ll keep it safe for you, and if one day you need it, you can ask me for the bracelet.”

”Who asks for a gift to be returned after giving it away!” Qin Ru Hai said with a smile, ”You mother treasures that bracelet so dearly, and since she’s willing to give it to you, it means she accepts you in her heart! Likes you! Just take it and don’t feel any pressure! We won’t take advantage of you two.”

”Dad, listen to what you’re saying, do you think An Hao and I are that type of people?” Qin Jian said with a laugh.

”Of course not, I’m just saying!” Qin Ru Hai also laughed.

An Hao accepted the bracelet, exchanged a few more heartfelt words with Li Junping, and then quickly left. She really didn’t want to see Qin Fen and Song Yueqin’s smirking faces.

It was only after leaving the house that An Hao slowed her pace.

Indeed, she had spent quite a bit of money on the wedding, but the value of the bracelet Li Junping gave her likely far exceeded what she had spent. An Hao decided to have the bracelet appraised once she got back—to determine its actual value.

That would help her decide how to secure the bracelet for the future.
