Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 670: Chapter 670: He’s Mocking You for Being Shameless

The holiday had begun, and Cheng Yue had originally planned to stay at school for a few more days.

Now, he had been beaten up thoroughly. In front of the whole school, he lost face, and not just a little— it was a massive loss of face.

Fortunately, he, Cheng Yue, had thick skin and didn’t care too much about these things.

However, his desire to stay and have fun in Nancheng City had waned; what he wanted most was to hurry home.

He would show Mr. Cheng that the inaccurate information he provided had led Cheng Yue into being almost beaten into a pulp.

”Cheng Yue, when are you going to buy the train ticket?” asked Li Zhi as he packed his things.

”What train ticket? I’m going to send Mr. Cheng a telegram to come pick me up personally! Look at how I look right now, do you think I’d have the nerve to take the train?” Cheng Yue looked at his own face in the mirror.

Previously, An Hao’s younger brother had hit him, landing a punch on one eye, which had just recovered from being bruised for over a week. Now that one was finally healed, the other eye had taken a hit from Qin Jian.

That punch was definitely intentional; he clearly saw the corner of his mouth lifted as he was being hit.

”Hahaha. You do look pretty beaten up right now!” Zhang Chaoqian couldn’t help but hold his stomach and laugh while looking at Cheng Yue’s face, which sported a mix of blue, red, and purple, ”Tell me, did the Staff Officer Qin deliberately aim for your face, as if to mock you for being shameless?”

”Exactly, Cheng Yue! You’re already shameless, so why would you be afraid to take the train and lose face?” Li Zhi also joined in, egging him on.

Cheng Yue had come to a realization: he was a poor judge of character when it came to friends!

He was beaten and suffering, yet these two were as joyful as if they had just had a treat.

”I can’t be bothered with you guys! I’m going to send a telegram to Mr. Cheng!” After saying that, Cheng Yue grabbed a military cap from the bed and put it on his head before heading out.

Luckily, Staff Officer Qin had shown some mercy. Others might not know, but Cheng Yue was clear about it.

If Qin Jian had wanted to beat him up, he could have chosen to hit where others wouldn’t see and not leave marks out in the open.

By doing so, he indeed intended to discipline Cheng Yue.

He couldn’t pester An Hao anymore; he had promised Qin Jian and intended to keep his word.

But just thinking about An Hao, his first love, Cheng Yue sighed wearily, feeling the injuries on his face ache even more.

”The kid must be feeling pretty down, huh?” Zhang Chaoqian felt a bit bad for Cheng Yue as he watched his retreating back. ”Li Zhi, back in high school, at least we messed around writing little notes to girls. We did chase girls to some extent, didn’t we? Only Cheng Yue had his eyes on his forehead. After all this time he finally takes an interest, and it turns out to be a married woman—how unlucky must his eyes be.”

”Chao Qian, watch what you say. When we were in high school, were you the one who chased girls and wrote notes? I never did that!” Li Zhi wouldn’t admit it, as Gu Shuangshuang would have looked down on him.

If Gu Shuangshuang found out he did such things in high school, she would surely despise him even more.

He had fallen for Gu Shuangshuang at first sight, and his father liked her too. He was determined to win her over.

”Give me a break! You didn’t write any less than I did...”

”Get lost!” In one smooth motion, Li Zhi grabbed a book and flung it at Wang Chao, ”We were too young to understand love back then! That was just a prank, a prank, you hear? Let me tell you, medicine can be taken randomly, but words must not be spoken carelessly! I’m here on a mission arranged by my future mother-in-law.”

”What mission?” Chao Qian asked curiously.

”Want to know?”

”Yeah!”

”Come over and give me a hand! Then I’ll tell you!”

Zhang Chaoqian: ”...” Li Zhi, your uncle!
