Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 686: Chapter 685: Directly Start Snatching

Wang Erzhu shook his head: ”No success!”

”Then what? Should I go back and have my mom prepare some more red envelopes?” Qin Fen tentatively asked.

Wang Erzhu really thought Qin Fen was a bit dense: ”Qin Fen, can’t you see that your mother-in-law is just deliberately making things difficult for you?”

”Difficult or not, I can’t just not marry her!” He had already performed ninety-nine bows, just short of completing the ritual. How could he be left kneeling halfway?

Even Qin Fen’s buddies felt it was unacceptable: ”Big Fen, what’s the deal with your mother-in-law? She’s practically extorting you on your wedding day, isn’t she?”

”Exactly. What was all the previous discussion about? We’ve already given quite a few red envelopes. Who are they trying to offend by keeping the door closed?”

It was embarrassing to make a scene in front of so many people, and Qin Fen felt he was losing face. He pounded on the door and shouted, ”Yueqin, stop messing around! Open the door! We’re about to miss the auspicious time.”

”Qin Fen, don’t say anything else, just prepare the red envelopes...” The voice of Song Yueqin came through once again.

”Oh my goodness! My quick temper! This is infuriating!” Qin Fen’s pals were furious; if it were them, they’d simply walk away from a woman like this.

To cause trouble on one’s wedding day is to court disaster!

Qin Fen clenched his fists and turned to look at Wang Erzhu: ”Uncle Wang, I’ve decided to force the door!”

”Alright!” Wang Erzhu was also annoyed.

Haven’t seen such vexing and unreasonable people at anybody else’s wedding.

If the Song Family didn’t know how to behave themselves, then he would not hold back either.

He had eaten the Qin Family’s food and accepted their red envelopes and cigarettes; it would be unreasonable to not bring his bride back home now.

”Come on, lads! Listen for my signal! I’ll count to three and on three, we smash the door open! Once we’re inside, no more talking, just pick up the bride and go!” Wang Erzhu instructed.

”Right! Follow the lead!”

Wang Erzhu started the countdown: ”One, two, three!”

The young guys had all been secretly gathering their strength, and as soon as the count finished, they slammed into the door!

If they couldn’t break the door, they’d kick it!

The young men were strong and it didn’t take long for them to kick the door open, sending the relatives who had been blocking it sprawling all over the place.

”Ouch! Is this how you marry off a bride?”

”My back!”

Qin Fen had been stewing with anger and paid no attention to the Song Family’s relatives; he simply pulled Song Yueqin off the kang bed and carried her out on his back.

Qin Fen’s friends blocked the way behind them.

After a Herculean effort, Qin Fen finally got Song Yueqin out, placed her on the bicycle, and off they went!

He didn’t even glance at his mother-in-law and father-in-law on the way out.

According to the village custom, after picking up his wife, he was supposed to serve tea to his mother-in-law and father-in-law. But because Qin Fen was fuming and in a rush to make the auspicious time, he completely ignored Mr. and Mrs. Song and went with the wedding party back to the Qin Family home.

Zhang Juyun was still feeling smug inside, wanting to see what the Qin Family would do.

She had figured the Qin Family wouldn’t abandon the effort halfway.

Who would have thought, before she could gloat for a few minutes, she saw the arranged escort for the bride and her family’s chief steward rushing over in a fluster: ”Juyun! What play is your son-in-law performing? He just took Song Yueqin by force and didn’t even wait for our escort!”

”What?” Upon hearing this, Zhang Juyun couldn’t sit still anymore and rushed towards Song Yueqin’s room.

Before she could enter, she was stunned still right where she stood.
