Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 652: Chapter 652 Are You Competing in Misery?

”Are you two having a contest to see who’s the most miserable?” Li Zhi couldn’t help but laugh and cry when bringing up this matter, ”Just yesterday, the second-born was kicked, already a sad story. Now you two have dragged me into getting punished with standing! It was you who stole someone else’s letter, I didn’t do anything! After standing here for so long, my second-born hurts even more, my dad only has me for a son! If my second-born is done for, who’s going to carry on the Li Family name?”

”That’s something you should tell Gu Shuangshuang,” Zhang Chaoqian said, also feeling wronged, ”Cheng Yue was the mastermind, I just read a couple of lines...”

”Enough, stop talking! You asked for it yourself! Who told you to open someone else’s letter? They got mad and reported to the headteacher. It’s only a few hours of standing punishment and running a couple of laps for you! You brought this on yourselves. I’m the one who’s been wronged!” Li Zhi said with a pained expression, ”When it rains, it pours! Even drinking water chokes you, farting knocks your heels!”

Cheng Yue couldn’t be bothered to listen to their griping and submerged himself in his own world.

Seeing that Cheng Yue had stopped talking, both Li Zhi and Zhang Chaoqian shut their mouths.

After a while, Cheng Yue suddenly mumbled to himself, ”An Hao’s husband is a soldier! While he’s at the front lines dealing with disasters and making sacrifices for the country and the people, isn’t it a bit immoral for me to be pursuing his wife?”

”That’s right! It’s despicable! We come from military families after all! Cheng Yue, you better not do such a thing!”

”It’s like you’re missing eight lifetimes of virtue! If you did such a thing, you should be dragged out and shot!”

Cheng Yue gritted his teeth, ”...”

If he hadn’t grown up with them, running around bare-butted, he would really want to pounce on them and bite them to death!

”But, I still can’t let go of her, what should I do?” Cheng Yue thought of An Hao and his heart ached, ”I’ve decided, I’m going to thoroughly investigate An Hao’s husband, I want to duel with him!”

Zhang Chaoqian was nearly shocked to the ground, ”A duel? Are you qualified? Have you been reading too much of that Western romantic literature? Challenging people to duels on a whim? And what if you win? Are you going to take his wife by force? If your dad finds out about your shenanigans at school, he’s definitely not going to spare you!”

The more Cheng Yue thought about it, the more frustrated he became, hating why he didn’t meet An Hao sooner.

The three guys were on the field standing until their legs hurt, with twenty minutes left till the end of military posture training followed by distance running, the thought was suffocating.

”Even though I’m an atheist and a materialist, right now, I still wish that God would suddenly open his eyes and send down a deity to save us,” Zhang Chaoqian was hardly able to stand anymore; he was notorious for skiving off during regular training.

”Dream on,” Cheng Yue sighed.

This little hot pepper really knows how to hold a grudge! Was it worth making them suffer just for reading half her letter?

”Hey! Look, quick!” Li Zhi suddenly perked up like he’d discovered a new world, instantly revived from his wilted state, ”God has opened his eyes, the deity has come!”

His words instantly energized the other two, and following the direction Li Zhi was pointing, they saw Yan Ye walking towards them from a distance.

”This is great! Teacher Yan is here, we’re saved!” Cheng Yue clapped his hands and then waved at Yan Ye, ”Teacher Yan, over here! Teacher Yan, save us!”

From afar, Yan Ye saw three people standing on the track and, upon approaching, realized it was the three of them: ”What are you doing here? Punished with standing?”
