Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 619: Chapter 619: A Bit Embarrassed

This issue has indeed been a focal point of attention for both families’ elders.

After all, he was already thirty-two, an age when others would already have become fathers, and he had just gotten married.

”I understand,” Qin Jian set down his wine glass, smiling as he said, ”An Hao is currently busy with her studies, and she doesn’t want to interrupt them lightly. Having a child is a matter for two people, and it wouldn’t be right to impose my wishes on her.”

”Wrong, wrong, wrong!” An Shuchao, reeking of alcohol and swaying, said, ”I, your father-in-law! To use An Hao’s words, I am too foolish and timid, but there’s one thing I’m not timid about at all.”

”What is it?” Qin Jian followed up, prompted by his words.

”The matter of having children,” An Shuchao boasted about his valiance in the past while slapping the table, ”I decided when to let An Hao’s mom give birth, and she did! Think about it, we farmers, when we sow the seeds, that’s when the sprouts grow in the field. The key to this problem is sowing seeds! Who’s going to sow them? Of course, it’s you! You hold the initiative in sowing!”

Qin Jian, listening to his father-in-law’s words, felt embarrassed despite the fact they were not explicit.

An Shuchao, completely oblivious to his son-in-law’s embarrassment, continued on, exclaiming, ”You shouldn’t indulge An Hao in this matter. Listen to me and ’go to the field’ to ’sow the seeds’ tonight. Next year, who knows, you might harvest a chubby little boy.”

Qin Jian was shocked by his father-in-law’s forthright comments and coughed a few times to cover his embarrassment.

An Shuchao, seeing Qin Jian’s face turn red, couldn’t help but burst into loud laughter, ”The chief of staff is embarrassed.”

Qin Jian, seeing his father-in-law bringing up such a matter, thought he must have drunk too much.

Otherwise, how could he so uninhibitedly discuss such intimate matters with his son-in-law?

An Shuchao had indeed drunk too much, and as the alcohol started to surge, he soon became drowsy, his eyelids growing heavier and heavier, until at last, he slumped over on the table.

An Hao returned from cleaning up the kitchen to find them all passed out and called Qin Jian to help carry them one by one to the kang (traditional heated bed).

After settling them in, Qin Jian started to help An Hao clean up the pots and dishes.

While cleaning, An Hao asked him, ”What was my dad saying to you in the room just now?”

Qin Jian’s ears reddened as he looked up and asked her, ”Do you really want to know?”

”Of course,” An Hao replied and, seeing the flush behind Qin Jian’s ears, laughed, ”Why are you blushing? Could it be my dad said something that embarrassed you?”

”It wasn’t embarrassing,” Qin Jian said with a smirk on his lips, ”just a bit mortifying.”

”Oh, Chief Qin’s skin is so thick now it could rival a wall, and yet you felt mortified?” An Hao teased him with a smirk.

”I tell you, you’d blush too. Do you believe me?” Qin Jian looked at his little wife, the urge to tease her rising.

”What could my dad possibly say that would make one’s heart race and face turn red?” An Hao didn’t believe it for a second, unless her dad had drunk so much he was utterly confused.

”Alright. I’ll tell you,” Qin Jian leaned close to An Hao’s ear, and whispered, ”Your father said not to listen to you, and to ’go to the field’ and ’sow the seeds’ with all my might tonight, striving to have you bear a big chubby baby next year.”

An Hao’s face turned red instantly—it seemed like an egg could cook on her face just then.
