Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 612: Chapter 612: He Is Repaying a Debt

Qin Ru Hai was taken to the intensive care unit, which is a sterile environment, and family members are not allowed to stay inside to keep watch.

A dedicated nurse would be there to watch over the patient twenty-four hours a day.

However, the daily medical expenses were certainly exorbitant, unaffordable for the average person.

Fortunately, this was a military hospital, and Ning Yibin was a regional military commander, so staying in such a ward was still manageable.

It was getting late, and Qin Jian asked An Hao to keep his parents company and go back first; he himself went to the maternity hospital, as this matter always had to be discussed with Li Junping.

It was definitely impossible to keep it a secret, and it was better to know early to be mentally prepared.

When Qin Jian arrived, he happened to see Li Junping and Qin Fen standing at the hospital’s main entrance, obviously looking around for Qin Ru Hai.

”Mom, Qin Fen, are you waiting for my dad so late at night?” Qin Jian asked.

”Yes.” Li Junping’s face was full of anxiety, ”What’s happened to your father? He said he’d bring you jujubes at noon. But he hasn’t returned yet. Have you seen your dad?”

Qin Jian nodded and said to Li Junping, ”Mom, I have something to tell you, and you must bear with it.”

Hearing Qin Jian speak in such a manner, Li Junping’s heart skipped a beat, ”What is it? Tell me.”

Qin Jian pursed his lips and paused for a moment before saying, ”Dad was hit by a motorcycle, and he has been taken to PLA Hospital. The surgery is done, but he’s still in a coma. The doctors say it’s still uncertain whether he can wake up or not.”

Upon hearing this, Li Junping’s eyes rolled back, and she fainted.

Qin Fen hurriedly caught her, pinching her philtrum and patting her until she slowly regained consciousness.

Li Junping started crying loudly as soon as she saw Qin Jian, ”Oh, heaven, one vegetable wasn’t enough, and now we have another. What’s happened to our Qin family? What sins have we committed!”

”Brother, what in the world happened?” Qin Fen asked, feeling very anxious. Their father was still in charge of their home, the pillar of the family.

He couldn’t fall, if he did, how would they manage their household in the future?

Not to mention anyone else, what about mother Li Junping? What about Qin Feng? And what about his own marriage?

Qin Jian recounted everything that had happened in the street, leaving Liu Junping stunned.

It took her a long time to regain her composure, with tears in her eyes she muttered, ”Retribution! This is all retribution! Thirty years ago, our Qin family wronged the Ning family! Now heaven has brought disaster upon the Qin family!”

”Mom! There are unforeseen accidents. How can you say that dad’s accident is retribution?” Qin Jian didn’t like hearing these words.

”You’re right. This is not retribution; this is paying off a debt!” Li Junping said as tears streamed down, ”Old Qin did the right thing! We wronged your biological parents! This time, Old Qin must have felt guilty, and that’s why he did it. He was paying off a debt! Paying off your parents’ debt on behalf of the Qin family!”

”Mom, let’s not talk about this for now. Now that you know the situation, you need to be mentally prepared. In case...” Qin Jian didn’t finish his sentence, but the implication was clear, ”In case it really comes to that situation, my biological parents will not abandon the Qin family.”

Li Junping shook her head and said, ”I don’t blame your parents! It was us who first owed the Ning family. Your father has been honest all his life, and I never thought he would end up like this. If someone has to suffer, it should be me suffering for him!”
