Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 607: Chapter 607: Nonsensical Remarks

”What?” Zhang Juyun wouldn’t accept it, ”I don’t care, you can’t just not marry Song Yueqin. You also have to give the betrothal money. Have you ever seen any family marry a daughter-in-law without paying betrothal money? I’ve raised a big girl for twenty years just to give her away for free?”

”Yueqin’s mom, we didn’t say we’re not getting married. If you insist on the betrothal money, then that’s fine. Let’s talk about it once we’ve gathered enough for the dowry.” Liu Junping’s words left Zhang Juyun speechless.

Zhang Juyun opened her mouth but couldn’t say a word, steam almost coming out of her ears.

Back in the hospital room, Zhang Juyun’s face looked especially ugly. She signaled to Song Yueqin and prepared to leave.

After Song Yueqin came out, she knew from her mother’s expression that the matter was definitely not settled.

”How did it go? I told you not to come, right?”

Zhang Juyun, with hands on hips, spat fiercely on the ground, ”This Qin family old man clearly doesn’t want to pay the betrothal money. That’s what makes me angry.”

”Who told you to come at this time? I kept saying you shouldn’t come, yet you insisted. You’re just asking to be upset,” Song Yueqin disapproved of her mother’s actions.

”Then what do you propose we do?”

A corner of Song Yueqin’s mouth twitched up, ”Want to get married? Isn’t it easy? There are plenty of ways, but listen to me for now, Mom. Let’s go back first. Don’t make a scene here, it won’t end well if we do.”

Seeing such confidence in Song Yueqin, Zhang Juyun had nothing more to say.

If they want to leave, let’s leave. Anyway, the Qin family definitely won’t get away with not marrying Yueqin. Think they can evade this issue? No chance.

Li Junping peered out, looked down the corridor, and seeing no one, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.

”Really. For this mother and daughter to come discuss marriage at such a time, they truly have no sense.”

”It’s not that they lack sense,” Qin Ru Hai sneered, ”They’re worried that if Qin Feng doesn’t wake up, we’ll spend all our money on him. So they’re in a hurry, coming over to test the waters and even coerce us into marrying.”

Song Fei, who had been silent, spoke up coldly, ”My aunt has always been like that, trying to take advantage whenever she sees a bargain. It’s just that the family was doing well the past few years so she restrained herself. Now that the family’s fortunes have declined, her true nature has reemerged.”

”Enough already,” Qin Fen was a bit upset to hear this, his own wedding had been halted due to lack of dowry, and he was already displeased. Hearing the others discuss his future mother-in-law, he was even less happy, ”Mind your words. You’re all married, but what about me? I’m also over twenty, those who are full don’t know the hunger of the starving.”

Qin Ru Hai, upon hearing such nonsense, took off his shoe sole, intending to give him a good beating, but was stopped by Li Junping.

”Stop it. If you want to hit him, there will be plenty of opportunities later. This is a hospital; don’t disturb others.”

Convinced, Qin Ru Hai put his shoes back on.

Li Junping looked at the things Zhang Juyun had brought and laughed, ”This Zhang Juyun really knows how to count every penny. She even brought a half backpack of sour dates.”

”Ah. Who is going to eat so many sour dates?” Qin Ru Hai shook his head.

”You should make a trip to the Ning family,” Li Junping sealed the bag and handed it to Qin Ru Hai, ”Have you forgotten? Jianzi has always loved sour dates. His real mom always said what she missed the most were the sour dates from the mountains here. Sour and sweet, really tasty.”
