Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 1648: Shang Zhanluo’s Condition

Shang Luohu welcomed her daughter with a warm embrace. Although Zhang Fei [5] had always brought them to a reunion in the Yin-Yang Corridor Domain for the past few years, they couldn’t truly enjoy it because the giant Yin-Yang Lotus absorbed their soul power. ”I missed you too, Xueli. Are you well?”

”Uhm.” Shang Xueli nodded. ”Zhang Fei and the others have always treated me well, so I’m completely healthy. They often accompany me to relieve my boredom, so I don’t experience any stress.”

”You two can reunite, and I’ll go check on your husband.”

”Wait,” Shang Luohu stopped Zhang Fei [5]. ”You won’t be able to enter my husband’s seclusion place without me, so I’ll take you both there.”

”Take us there now, and you two can reunite afterward.” Zhang Fei [5] took Qi Qingxiu by the hand, following behind Shang Luohu and Shang Xueli, who looked pleased with their meeting.

Behind them, Shang Zhui examined Shang Xueli, especially her cultivation. His son, Tian Shuixiang, had already told him that Zhang Fei [5] had confined the asura demon princess in a special place, which was beneficial for her. ’Her cultivation has increased quite significantly compared to when she was still living in the Celestial Demon Domain. At first, I thought that he would take her as his wife, but I couldn’t find any trace of his yang qi in her body.’

Soon, they arrived in front of Shang Zhanluo’s room. ”By the way, why didn’t you bring my sister-in-law here?”

”I offered Shang Fengxue to bring her back here, but she said that she was too comfortable in my sect, and she was busy training our disciples.”

Shang Luohu only shook her head at this, as her sister-in-law had been gone for over five years, and she hadn’t returned since. Fortunately, Shang Zhanluo was busy with his seclusion; otherwise, her departure would have brought trouble. She immediately opened the seal on the door, and they instantly smelled a thick aura of blood from within.

Shang Luohu hurriedly went in to check on her husband, followed by Zhang Fei [5] and the others. They discovered that Shang Zhanluo’s entire body was covered in demon blood, and his aura was quite suffocating for them.

Shang Zhanluo’s eyes were tightly closed, and he was unaware of their presence.

’What do you think happened to him, Mei?’ Zhang Fei [5] frowned as he observed Shang Zhanluo.

[If possible, you should take a sample of his body part, such as his hair, and I’ll examine it for you, Master.]

”Mother, what happened to my father?” Shang Xueli fearfully asked.

”I don’t know.” Shang Luohu looked at Shang Zhui, but he also had no answer for her husband’s condition. ”Could this be due to the effects of Wu Han’s potion?”

”That’s possible.” Zhang Fei [5] activated the soul link and walked over to Shang Zhanluo. ”I need his hair to check.”

Qi Qingxiu was confident in her husband’s abilities, but she still prepared herself to face unexpected possibilities. Shang Luohu and Shang Zhui are also the same as her, as Shang Zhanluo’s conditions are too strange.

Zhang Fei [5] quickly pulled a strand of Shang Zhanluo’s red hair, but the asura demon god suddenly opened his eyes. Both of his eyes were bloody dark red, like someone on a rampage.

They took a deep breath when they saw Shang Zhanluo’s expression, especially when he looked at his wife and daughter. However, it didn’t last long, and he closed his eyes again, confusing them.

Zhang Fei [5] immediately returned to their side, and Shang Luohu brought them out of the room before sealing it again.

”What kind of potion did Sha Mo use on my husband? Why is his behavior getting stranger by the day?” Shang Luohu asked with a frown.

Shang Zhui agreed with his empress. ”Judging from my emperor’s gaze earlier, he was only focused on you and the princess, and he seemed unaware of the presence of the three of us.”

”Yes.” Shang Luohu nodded. ”For some reason, I could sense my husband’s killing intent, and it was directed at both of us.”

”Could he have been affected by some kind of berserk potion, husband?” Qi Qingxiu asked, feeling strange about Shang Zhanluo’s condition.

”I think so too.” Zhang Fei [5] stored Shang Zhanluo’s hair in the system inventory so Mei could examine it directly. ”The only way to get a clear answer is we must capture and subdue Sha Mo since we don’t know about Wu Han’s whereabouts. However, he is currently in Ku Shenzu’s domain, and he will leave that domain in a week.”

”Didn’t you get that information from Sha Yuan?”

”Sha Yuan’s memories don’t have that, so I’m sure Sha Mo arranged everything himself.” Zhang Fei [5] thought of another solution to that problem. ”It seems I have to go see Dong Xuanyin, and I’ll ask her to take me to Wu Zu. Since that woman is a witch demon, I’m sure she has the answer.”

”How about going to Dong Xuanyin’s place now?”

”Yeah.” Zhang Fei [5] looked at Shang Luohu and Shang Xueli. ”I’ll leave your daughter with you for now, and I’ll pick her up later.”

Shang Luohu sighed because Zhang Fei [5] was still not willing to free her daughter. ”Alright.”

Zhang Fei [5] immediately opened the gate to the Ten Thousand Beast Grave Domain and took Qi Qingxiu with him, disappearing inside.

”Zhui.”

”Yes, Empress.”

”Have our men found the location of the Heavenly Fiend Demon Domain?”

”That domain is two months’ journey from ours, but we won’t be able to defeat Sha Mo without our demon god.”

Shang Luohu understood this, but she was furious because Sha Mo conspired with the witch demon race and made her husband’s condition so bad. ”Forget it! I’ll wait for information from Zhang Fei first, and I hope Wu Zu can help.”

”I think that’s our best option for now, Empress.”

”For now, I want to spend my time with my daughter, and I don’t want any disturbances at all. As for those people, you can deal with them as necessary, and you should kill them if they still think about rebelling.”

”Yes, Empress.” Shang Zhui disappeared immediately.

”Do our people really want to rebel, Mother?” Shang Xueli asked in shock. She herself had been away from their domain for hundreds of years, and today was her first time back.

”Yes.” Shang Luohu hugged her daughter’s waist and led her away. ”As you know, our asura demon race places great importance on strength, and we don’t have a son to succeed your father. Your father has been in that condition for years, and our people started to suspect that something bad had happened to him, so they thought about replacing him.”

”Does that include Grandpa Zhui and the four asura guardians?”

”Xueli, Zhui is completely loyal to your father, so I believe he will never rebel.” Shang Xueli nodded to her. ”The four asura guardians are indeed loyal to your father, but they are not completely loyal either. They have long harbored ambitions to replace your father, especially Shang Dongzhu and Shang Beixuan. If your father doesn’t recover soon, they will truly rebel, and the situation in our race will be in complete chaos. If that happens, you must stay by Zhang Fei’s side, and you will be safe with him.”

”But—”

”Don’t argue with me, okay?” Shang Luohu looked at her daughter. ”You are our only descendant, so I don’t want you to get involved in such matters, and I want you to always be safe. Without your father, Zhui and I would not have been able to stop the four asura guardians, so you have to understand my decision.”

”What about the guardian of the Blood Sea? Won’t it move if the four asura guardians rebel?”

”Speaking of the guardian of the Blood Sea, it completely submits to Zhang Fei.” Shang Xueli’s jaw dropped upon hearing this, as the Slaughter Blood Phantom never submitted to anyone, including her father. ”I don’t know how he managed to tame it, but I think it has something to do with his identity as a heavenly fox.”

Since she had stayed so long in Zhang Fei’s training space, Shang Xueli had long known about her four identities, so she wasn’t surprised by it. ”Mother, I think he can defeat the four asura guardians, so we should ask for his help if they really want to rebel.”

”Hmm?” Shang Luohu raised an eyebrow. ”Zhang Fei fought them a few years ago, Xueli. He defeated Shang Xijiao and drew with Shang Nanzhui, but he couldn’t defeat Shang Beixuan, let alone Shang Dongzhu.”

”How high did you feel Zhang Fei’s strength was at that time, Mother?”

”The Celestial Lord Realm.”

”I see.” Shang Xueli knew that Zhang Fei did not fight to the best of his ability at that time. ”Mother, would you believe me if I said that he could match Demon God Mingran and Demon God Shizhe in strength?”

”Is that true?”

”Yes.” Shang Xueli nodded. ”I’ve seen them spar many times over the years, and Zhang Fei has never lost to them. He does have difficulty facing their abilities, but he has never lost. I don’t know what method he uses to improve his strength, but his strength can increase sharply to the level of a cultivator at the Celestial Venerable Realm, so I’m confident that he can defeat the four asura guardians if he wants to. Furthermore, his speed far surpasses all other cultivators unrelated to him, and none of them are able to match him.”

Shang Luohu nodded in understanding. ”How’s your speed? You’ve been training with him for years, so I’m curious to see your progress.”
