Zhang Fei breathed a sigh of relief after the series of notifications appeared, but he didn’t expect the system to enter its final upgrade because Mei had once said that level 10 was the final level.

[Master, I don’t know what kind of changes will occur to the system, so we can only wait for the process to end, but I don’t think the additional features will be much.]

Zhang Fei had no problem with that because he had already benefited greatly from the system, which had helped him progress so far in the cultivation world since he obtained it.

The Blazing Desert Domain is a vast expanse where the earth burns beneath a giant, never-dying sun. The sand stretches endlessly in waves of crimson, making every step feel like walking on smoldering stones.

Heat radiates not only from above but also from below, as if the entire domain rests atop a dormant furnace without visible flames. The sky is often a hazy red from the extreme intensity of the heat. The air vibrates with heat, creating a constant mirage so that distance and direction lose their meaning. Hot wind sweeps across the land, mingling with the fine sand that burns anything.

”So fucking hot!” Long Xukong enveloped himself with his void qi because he couldn’t stand the extreme heat in the domain.

On the contrary, Zhang Fei did not find it difficult to adapt to the extreme heat in the domain, especially since he had several beast bloodlines affiliated with the fire element in his body.

Meanwhile, Feng Yao was a pure fire phoenix, and the hottest fire, the eternal flame, resided in her body. Besides, she was the embodiment of the core of the universe, so she had all the abilities needed to withstand the extreme heat. ”Bring us into the void now.”

”Alright.” Long Xukong enveloped them with his void qi and brought them into the void.

As they entered the void, a violent tremor occurred within the dark forest in one of the Ancient Realm’s domains. Two giant eyes opened, but their physical appearance was invisible to the naked eye.

The creature was none other than the Primordial Nihility Beast, and his form was only revealed after he moved. He has a colossal, towering body. His body stretched endlessly, with a broad, heavy torso and elongated limbs. His skin was like layers of compressed darkness that flow like slow-moving smoke, constantly folding and collapsing inward. There were no scales or fur, only a smooth yet unstable surface.

His head was enormous, with a long, heavy snout and a wide mouth that never fully opened but seemed capable of devouring the entire forest. His eyes were deep and dark—darker than the rest of his body. His limbs were long and heavy, lacking clear joints, and bending in unnatural ways. The ends of his limbs did not form claws; instead, they sprawled out into strands of darkness.

”Hmm? I can sense the aura of the calamity demon dragon, and he has just arrived in this ancient realm, but he suddenly disappeared again. Besides the aura of the calamity demon dragon, I sense the aura of another beast radiating from him, but I can’t recognize it.” The primordial nihility beast muttered to himself as he looked into the distance. ”Besides, I can sense the aura of a void dragon beside him, so I’m sure that weak dragon brought him into the void. Apart from that weak dragon, there is one female beast by his side, and I think it’s a fire phoenix. However, she is different from the other fire phoenixes, and I feel quite familiar with her aura, but I can’t remember her.”

After thinking, the primordial nihility beast or rather, his avatar—decided to merge with the dark forest again, but he continued to observe the situation and waited for Zhang Fei to come out of the void.

”Where exactly did those shadowy creatures come from? Even though this is only my avatar, I am a primordial beast that has existed since the birth of this universe, but I am afraid of them.”

.

.

.

Meanwhile, atop a mountain peak shrouded in thick white clouds, another beast opened his eyes. He was none other than the Primordial Genesis Beast—though it was only an avatar.

His body was completely white from head to tail. A smooth, pure white that felt too perfect, as if it didn’t belong in the normal world. His body was massive and long; he looked like a combination between a dragon and a qilin. His eyes were pure white too, with no pupils or color at all. There was no expression in his gaze, no anger or kindness, just a calm, distant feeling, like he didn’t care about anything. His enormous body wrapped around the mountain peak, with a head like a dragon mixed with a qilin and a heavy torso.

”The Calamity Demon Dragon has returned, so the Five-Clawed Golden Dragon should have returned as well. Based on his appearance, he must have come from the Paradise Realm, but he is too weak compared to his predecessor. The void dragon and the fire phoenix with him are quite strong by the standards of that realm, but they are still no match for me and my brother.” He looked in several different directions. ”The appearance of those shadowy creatures is really unexpected, and they are much stronger than my avatar. I don’t know the reason for their appearance, but they seem to be looking for something in this Ancient Realm, and I will monitor their movements while waiting for that man to come out of the void.”

.

.

.

Inside the void, Long Xukong was already in his void dragon form with Zhang Fei and Feng Yao sitting on his back.

”Do you think the avatars of the two primordial beasts are aware of my presence in this realm?”

Feng Yao tilted her head at Zhang Fei. ”They should already be aware of your presence in this realm, and they will definitely come for us as soon as we exit the void, so you must be prepared for the risks.”

”Phew,” Zhang Fei exhaled. ”Unfortunately, I have no other choice, right? You told me that those shadowy creatures are targeting the old fox’s two souls, and your barrier won’t be able to stop them forever. If those two souls fall into their hands, I will never be able to evolve into the ten-tailed fox, and no one can stop them. If they succeed in invading the Paradise Realm, all living creatures living there will die.”

”You’re right.” Feng Yao pointed to his chest. ”You have a way to save them, but I’m sure you won’t save everyone, and you’ll only save those who have a close relationship with you, right?”

Zhang Fei nodded. ”As I told you in the past, I don’t care about other living beings, and I only care about those I’ve chosen all along. If those shadowy creatures really invade this Paradise Realm, I will send those people into my soul world, and I will hide inside the Sealed World Pearl so they won’t be able to find me.”

”Is that kind of life interesting to you?” Zhang Fei raised an eyebrow. ”You always say you want to live freely without restraint, but in the end, you will be forced to live in hiding if those shadowy creatures invade this realm. Besides, have you ever considered whether they have the ability to invade your soul world or not?”

Zhang Fei looked at Feng Yao in contemplation, as he had never considered this before. Although his soul world was separate from his universe, his body was still in the same universe as those shadowy creatures, and he had no information about their abilities.

”I don’t know that,” Zhang Fei sighed. ”For now, I don’t want to think about that, and I want to focus on meeting the two souls of the old fox as soon as possible. If I succeed in evolving into the ten-tailed fox, I will think of a solution to get rid of those shadowy creatures. However, there are questions that have been bothering me since their appearance.”

”What kind of questions are you thinking?”

”What would happen to you if those shadowy creatures invaded this entire universe? What would happen to you if they destroyed this universe? Would you die along with the destruction of this universe?

”Hehe,” Feng Yao chuckled before hugging her legs. ”You already know my identity, right? Those creatures were intentionally sealed within the core of this universe, but they were freed because of me. I’m confident in facing the two primordial beasts, but I’m not confident in facing those creatures. Even though I’ve reincarnated several times, my identity has never changed, and I will die if this universe is destroyed.”

Zhang Fei sighed and pinned Feng Yao down, staring into her eyes. ”Tell me, what can I do to prevent you from dying?”

”Why do you ask that? Don’t you hate me after all I’ve done all this time?”

”Just answer my question, what can I do to prevent you from dying?”

”Nothing.” Feng Yao shook her head. ”My life and the universe are tied together, so I will die if this universe is destroyed.”

”Is there no other solution?”
