Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 1603: Ninth Soul Challenge

In his eighth challenge, Zhang Fei opened his eyes as he sensed the presence of someone or something inside. He was slightly surprised to see the old man from the sixth challenge. ”Hmm? Old man? How did you get in here?”

”I’ve told you that I’ve existed in this tower since it was built, right?” Zhang Fei nodded and stood up. ”It took you so long to realize your weakness and fear, young man.”

”I—” Zhang Fei stopped talking when the old man shot something into his soul, causing his soul power to surge quite significantly. ”Soul fragments.”

”That’s right,” The old man nodded. ”You have passed this challenge since you defeated those shadowy creatures, and those soul fragments are the reward of this challenge. I deliberately kept you here to help you calm down; otherwise, you would not have been able to pass the ninth challenge. Since you’ve calmed down now, I’ll send you out, and you can move on to the next challenge.”

”Wait a second.” Zhang Fei looked at the old man as he guessed his identity. ”Since you can do all that, I assume you’re the spirit of this tower, right, old man?”

”You realized it too late, young man. Your wife is much better than you because she is calm and fearless, and she was able to see everything clearly from the moment she first entered the sixth challenge.”

”Luo Yunxiao, right?”

The old man nodded at him. ”That little girl had everything to complete all the challenges on the second floor, but she deliberately slowed herself down for your sake. You are lucky to have a wife like her, so you must not waste her, and she will always be your strength because she inherited the physique of the ten-tailed fox.”

”You are right, old man. I am indeed lucky to have Luo Yunxiao as my wife, and I will never waste her.”

”I will send you out now and continue to the ninth challenge, and we will meet again on the third floor.”

”Thank you, old man.”

When he returned to his body, Zhang Fei saw Luo Yunxiao undergoing her ninth challenge. Meanwhile, Helian Xun’er, Nalan Wangzi, Tianshi Shengjie, and Yue Xuelian were undergoing their eighth challenges.

[Master, six days have passed since you started your eighth challenge, and Luo Yunxiao started his ninth challenge three days ago.]

’Six days, huh? I didn’t expect it to take me that long just to complete my eighth challenge.’ Zhang Fei looked at the other cultivators, but there weren’t as many as there were three days ago. ’I guess many of them failed their first challenge.’

[Those cultivators do have high cultivation, but they don’t have enough confidence and soul power to face all the challenges on this second floor. Moreover, most of them were wary of the presence of demons from the three demon races, and they were worried about being captured by them, so they decided to give up.]

Zhang Fei released a soft sigh before looking at Wang Yusheng and Wang Jingzhi, who were still trying to complete their second challenge. Beside them, he saw the core disciples of the Divine Samsara Sect, but he didn’t pay much attention to them.

Zhang Fei was satisfied to see that several elders from the Moonlit Passion Temple had already reached the second floor, such as Qing Qiu’er, You Feiling, Chen Yuefeng, Ling Yao, Qiu Yue, and several others.

Zhang Fei wasn’t surprised to see Nong Qinwei, Lan Xuening, and Dongfang Yuechan manage to reach the second floor fairly quickly, but he was surprised when he couldn’t find Yin Chang among them. Of the people from the Spring Zenith Sect, only Lu Shaqing and Gong Wei had reached that floor.

From the Celestial Moon Sect, Zhang Fei saw Yue Qianrou, Yue Yuling, and several other women, who had never previously reached the second floor.

A frown appeared on Zhang Fei’s forehead when his gaze met Li Guangyu’s, and he immediately activated his demon eyes.

’I guess almost all the higher-ups of the Divine Samsara Sect are like him, huh?’ Zhang Fei ignored Li Guangyu and went to the area for the ninth challenge.

Li Guangyu stared intently at Zhang Fei. ”How could he complete all the challenges so quickly? Back then, it took us so long to complete the first seven challenges, and we ultimately failed the eighth, but he passed the first eight challenges so easily.”

Although others saw that Zhang Fei looked like he had easily completed all the challenges, Li Guangyu did not know what he had gone through in all those challenges.

Li Guangyu contacted the members of the Divine Samsara Sect who were still on the first floor to confirm the position of the demons of the three demon races. After they informed him that the demons were still far from the second floor due to the presence of Feng Yao and the others, he decided to take on his first challenge, especially since all the disciples who had come with him were currently undergoing their second challenges.

Dugu Yuanshen opened his eyes after Li Guangyu initiated his first challenge, and his eyes flashed golden for a brief moment.

’I think a major battle will occur in this tower soon, and the cause will be the people from the Divine Samsara Sect. Their targets were obviously Zhang Fei, Yue Xuelian, and those demons.’ Dugu Yuanshen looked at his disciples before sighing inwardly, as they were still having difficulty facing their challenges. ’I hope you guys will successfully complete all the challenges before the people from that sect arrive at this tower, and I will take you to the third floor to avoid the fight between them.’

In the forest, Zhang Fei [1] gathered all his wives and asked them to go to the second area, led by Yao Qilin and Fei Lian.

”Are you sure you want to stay here alone, Master?”

Zhang Fei [1] nodded at Fei Lian. ”Yue Ningxue will arrive in this domain in a week or so, and I will prevent her from reaching the tower. Moreover, I’m not alone, and my second clone is here, so I’m confident in dealing with her.”

”Yue Ningxue is skilled in the ice element, but I don’t think that’s a big deal for you. After all, you possess the ice element, and you also understand the ice elemental laws, both of which have reached the peak stage. Most importantly, she is an ordinary woman, and you are a lust demon, so I believe you can handle her easily.”

”Haha,” Zhang Fei [1] laughed at Yao Qilin’s last sentence. ”Alright, you two can lead the way to the next area and protect them well, or I will punish you both.”

Yao Qilin and Fei Lian laughed loudly before leading all the women away with them. Feng Jiu and Feng Tian walked to Zhang Fei [1]’s side. ”Are you sure you can face a cultivator as powerful as Yue Ningxue, Son?”

”Don’t worry, I can handle her, so you two should go to the next area. After those demons climb to the second floor, I will take you all to the tower, and you can improve yourselves by facing all the challenges there.”

”Be careful, okay?”

”I will.”

Feng Tian patted his shoulder. ”I know you’re stronger than us, but you can call us if you need our help.”

”Yes.”

After Feng Tian and Feng Jiu caught up with the others, Zhang Fei [1] jumped onto one of the trees and waited there for Yue Ningxue’s arrival.

[Hehe! I think that woman would be a good match for you, and her Yin Qi would be very useful in helping you, Master.]

Zhang Fei [1] didn’t think about that, and he was more concerned about something else. ”I wonder how strong that woman is, and I’ll fight her to gauge the strength of the other ancestors of the Divine Samsara Sect. For now, we can only wait for her to arrive at this domain, and I will never let her go to the tower. However, Liang Huizhong and several elders from the sect are also on their way here, and their presence will be troublesome.”

[You have Feng Yao, Long Wuzhao, and the two dragons by your side, so I think the arrival of those people will not affect you, Master. Furthermore, they should be targeting those demons so you don’t need to fight with them.]

Zhang Fei [1] nodded slightly. ”Let’s wait for their arrival first, and I’ll think of other plans after they get here.”

In the ninth challenge, Zhang Fei arrived at a vast, empty field.

”What exactly is the purpose of this challenge? Why is there nothing here?” Zhang Fei muttered as he looked around, and he could sense many soul fragments in the air. ”Do I just need to absorb them to complete this challenge? That’s impossible, right? The previous challenge was really troublesome, so I don’t believe this one will be that easy.”

Just as Zhang Fei was thinking about the challenges he would have to face in the ninth challenge, the soul fragments in the air emitted a powerful pressure and pressed down on him, causing him to fall to the ground.

”Damn it!” Zhang Fei tried to fight back against the pressure using his soul power, but the pressure became several times stronger as soon as he released his soul power, and the ground beneath him immediately caved in from the intense pressure. ”Shit! I’ve never faced such intense soul pressure.”

Zhang Fei kept trying to fight against the incoming pressure, but the pressure kept getting stronger every time he tried to fight back. In the end, he decided to withdraw his soul power, allowing the pressure to suppress his soul. ”I hope my guess is correct.”
