Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 1249: The Higher Ups

Jia Xianzu, Kong Bai, and Nu Liexi stood in the center of a large room with ten thrones surrounding the area, with several people seated. However, the throne in the center was empty, but its dragon shape and golden color indicated that it belonged to the Golden Dragon Emperor, Long Wuzhao.

Nu Liexi forced Xing Haoran, who was shaking violently, to kneel on the floor. ’Shit! I never thought that my fate would end like this.’

Jia Xianzu reported to the nine people sitting on the thrones about Xing Haoran’s mistakes, making them whisper to each other while looking at the old man.

One of the nine people, who was a woman, suddenly raised her hand. She shot something at Xing Haoran, which caused his body to quickly dry up before disappearing into the dust. ”Do you still have anything else to discuss with us, Old Jia?”

”Yes.” Jia Xianzu nodded at the woman. ”Senior Hui Chen, I have decided to relinquish my position as the tower watcher because I have found evidence of Jia Zizhen’s betrayal, and I will prepare myself to purge the traitor.”

Hui Chen and the other eight were shocked to hear that, but Long Wuzhao suddenly appeared on his golden throne. ”Even though I don’t have solid evidence yet, I heard with my ears that Jia Zizhen was in cahoots with Jiu Mozu and Mo Shentian.”

”How did you know that, Dragon Emperor?”

Long Wuzhao turned to the old man with the appearance of an elf. ”Jing Ruzhi, I previously went to the Fairy Race to save Jia Lingzhu and Jia Shengyun from Jia Zuzhen’s hands. The fairy king didn’t realize that Long Xukong and I were still in the void, and we overheard him contacting the two demon gods. Still, it couldn’t be used as evidence to get rid of him, so I have asked Long Xukong to collect the evidence first.”

”I see.” Jing Ruzhi nodded in understanding. ”I didn’t expect the rumors to be true, and Jia Zizhen dared to attack Jia Lingzhu and Jia Shengyun, even though they were his seniors and advisors. But what was his reason for attacking them?”

”This matter is related to the Ancient Treant Spirit.” Jing Ruzhi and the other eight stared at Long Wuzhao in shock. ”Their granddaughter, Jia Yuyan, was Shu Yuangu’s successor. Jia Zizhen forced them to marry her to him, but she is married to another man now.”

”Didn’t Jia Zizhen send Jia Yuyan to the Three Mortal Realms to search for the whereabouts of the Ten-Tailed Fox’s successor? Does this mean that she has succeeded in finding his successor?” A human woman asked Long Wuzhao.

”You are right, Shen Jinyue.” Long Wuzhao confirmed it with a light nod. ”Jia Yuyan has succeeded in finding Hu Tianlang’s successor, and she has brought him to our realm. However, I will not reveal his identity for now, and I have ordered some of my subordinates to protect him. Additionally, you should already know that Empress Huo Yanling has returned, and she is also protecting him now.”

Jing Ruzhi and the other eight started whispering again, especially after they remembered Feng Yao’s action in ordering her subordinates to carry out a mass massacre in their realm.

Long Wuzhao then spoke to them again. ”For now, all of you must restrain yourselves from seeking information about him because your actions will only provoke Empress Huo’s wrath, and none of you will be able to face her wrath.”

”Does that mean Empress Huo has regained her past strength?”

Long Wuzhao nodded to the old man. ”Wang Jinyang, I met Empress Huo before, and her cultivation has reached the Three-Sun Celestial God Realm, which means she is the strongest cultivator in this realm right now. Additionally, the Eternal Flame is by her side, and—”

”What?” The nine people shouted as they stood up from their thrones. ”Are you serious about that? Has the Eternal Flame really returned? How could it be in Empress Huo’s hands?”

Long Wuzhao shook his head. ”Empress Huo’s existence has always been a mystery to us all, and her past strength was simply beyond logic. Since she has regained her past strength, we are not her opponents.”

They let out a heavy sigh, and a male beast with a body as large as Long Wuzhao’s immediately spoke. His body was covered in a golden robe and flames that were almost similar to the Golden Dragon King, but both were different at the same time. ”Back then, we challenged her to fight us, and she asked us to fight her all at once. Even with our combined strength, we still lost badly to her, and it took me a hundred thousand years to fully recover.”

”Haha.” Hui Chen softly laughed at that. ”Hey, Feng Jinhuang! We asked you to stop at that time, but your arrogance blinded you, and Empress Huo was forced to bring you to your senses by beating you almost to death.”

”That’s true.” Jing Ruzhi nodded her head. ”Even after you used your golden phoenix flame, you were still powerless before Empress Huo. She was even able to control your flame at that time, which was simply beyond logic since she was a human in the past.”

Feng Jinhuang’s lips twitched at that remark, but Long Wuzhao immediately spoke to him. ”Golden Phoenix Emperor, the current Empress Huo is no longer a human but a Fire Phoenix.”

”Huh?” Feng Jinhuang and the others were shocked by that. ”Are you sure that Empress Huo is a Fire Phoenix now?”

”She—”

*Scree*

All of them turned to the voice, and they saw a giant fire phoenix flying in. Soon, the giant fire phoenix landed in the center of the room before transforming into Feng Yao, causing Feng Jinhuang and the others to hold their breath and their bodies to tremble, except for Long Wuzhao.

Jia Xianzu, Kong Bai, and Nu Liexi immediately retreated, as they too were terrified of Feng Yao.

Their expressions grew even more terrified as Huo Ling emerged from Feng Yao’s body, making her laugh. ”Haha! Don’t you guys miss me? I haven’t seen you all in a long time, but you guys are so afraid of me.”

’Tch! Who would miss a barbaric woman like you?’ They grumbled inwardly.

Feng Yao smirked faintly before speaking to them. ”I didn’t come here to beat you guys up like in the past, but I wanted to emphasize Long Wuzhao’s previous words. Anyone who investigates the identity of Hu Tianlang’s successor will become my enemy, and I will show you a merciless side of me that I have never shown in the past.”

’Fuck! You are the most merciless woman in the past!’ Long Wuzhao and others smiled bitterly.

”Hehe.” Feng Yao chuckled. ”For now, he is still too weak, and I want him to focus on his cultivation because I need his help in the future. Additionally, I am tired of my restricted life, so I don’t want anyone to disturb him. If you ignore my warning, I will wipe out you and all your descendants.”

None of them dared to speak up to refute Feng Yao, but then Long Wuzhao asked her. ”What do you mean by your restricted life, Empress Huo?”

Feng Yao shook her head at Long Wuzhao. ”I can’t say anything for now, but the only one who can free me from my restricted life is Hu Tianlang’s successor. I’m growing tired of this life, and I need him to become stronger faster, so I won’t allow anyone to disturb him. If you anger me, Huo Ling will destroy this Paradise Realm and all its inhabitants, so you must not underestimate my warning.”

”Why did you have to go to such lengths, Empress Huo?” Jing Ruzhi asked with a serious expression.

”Do I need to give you an explanation?” Jing Ruzhi shivered in fear when Feng Yao’s eyes glowed crimson. ”Just remember my warning today: never disturb the life of Hu Tianglang’s successor, or other people will die because of your foolishness.”

Another man wanted to speak to Feng Yao, but Long Wuzhao hurriedly stopped him. ”Empress Huo, you don’t need to worry about that; I guarantee that none of us will disturb Hu Tianlang’s successor. However, I can’t do anything about those demons and evil beasts, so he will have to deal with them himself.”

”That’s good.” Feng Yao then threw a device to Long Wuzhao. ”All the evidence of Jia Zizhen’s involvement with the two demon gods is contained within that device, but I forbid you from taking any action against him. I need him to make Hu Tianlang’s successor aware of his limitations, so he will strive harder to become the strongest; only then can he free me.”

’This woman! How selfish she is! She’s been threatening us ever since she arrived, and it’s all for her own personal gain!’

Like the others, Long Wuzhao was also confused by Feng Yao’s attitude. ”Alright, we won’t do anything to Jia Zizhen, and I’ll let that kid handle him as you wish.”

”Since my business here is finished, I’ll leave now.” After Huo Ling entered her body, Feng Yao disappeared from their sight.

Jing Ruzhi then asked Long Wuzhao, ”Are we going to let Empress Huo continue to behave like this?”

”If you’re tired of living, you can fight Empress Huo yourself.” The others nodded in agreement to Wang Jinyang.

Long Wuzhao shook his head slightly. ”Forget about Empress Huo, and you can return to your sect, Jia Xianzu.”

”Thank you, Dragon Emperor.”
