The Deadly Hitwoman: The Heiress's Special Abilities

Chapter 96: Chapter 96: Come Meet Your Elder Uncle

Han Jing smiled and nodded, taking Su Yaogeng’s arm.

Actually, considering it, Su Yaogeng is now only thirty-six years old. In the era Han Jing once lived in, this was still an age full of charm and allure. Rather than saying Su Yaogeng is Han Jing’s mother, it would be more fitting to call her a sister and a friend.

Although she doesn’t know what kind of past or hardships Su Yaogeng had endured, if possible, she wishes for her to find happiness again.

The two had just turned and taken a few steps when they coincidentally ran into Marquis Qing’an, Han Siqu, who was walking towards them.

Su Yaogeng and Han Siqu nodded to each other in greeting and stopped, yet neither spoke a word.

Han Jing had no choice but to pay her respects to Han Siqu, ”Greetings, Father.”

Han Jing was now filled with curiosity. If there really was an old relationship between her mother and Duke Wei, Han Si Que, why did she marry Han Si Que’s brother, Han Siqu? What kind of entanglement is there between these three? In her memory, Su Yaogeng and Han Siqu always lived separately, each in their own courtyard, not interfering with each other. They were a couple in name only. Though Han Siqu was truly disgraceful, keeping a harem of concubines and bastards, Han Si Que didn’t seem any better either?

From what Han Jing just overheard, even she, the concerned daughter, felt that neither of these two were suitable matches for her mother!

She just didn’t know what her mother was thinking.

Han Siqu responded, ”Hmm. Are you heading back?”

Han Jing nodded, ”Yes, does Father have any business?”

Han Siqu glanced at Su Yaogeng, noting her usual calm expression. His eyes quickly flashed with a hint of doubt, and surprisingly, he spoke to Han Jing, ”I just saw your eldest uncle heading this way, so I came over to check. He has been stationed at the border for many years and rarely returns to the capital. Jing’er probably hasn’t seen him, right? I only learned today that the Emperor ordered him to come ahead of time to arrange the defenses for the hunting grounds, but I haven’t had the chance to meet him yet.”

Han Jing...

Usually, she didn’t hear this father being so talkative! And that glance he gave Mother clearly harbored suspicion, which suggests he might also know about the past between Mother and Han Si Que, so he’s saying this to test her purpose?

Han Jing immediately felt that she shouldn’t have bothered speaking to him just now! She was merely being polite!

Just as Han Jing was contemplating whether to find an excuse to leave, soft footsteps sounded from behind her.

Then she heard Han Siqu call out loudly, ”Big Brother!”

Han Jing was instantly somewhat disconcerted. Did they really have to run into each other this quickly...

She seized the moment while Su Yaogeng wasn’t paying attention to steal a glance at her, finding only a slight hint of sarcasm on her face and no other expressions. She felt a bit relieved.

”Jing’er, come meet your eldest uncle!” Today Han Siqu seemed quite insistent, holding onto Han Jing.

Han Jing...

In name, her mother and Han Siqu were still married, so she had to give this nod of respect.

So, Han Jing turned with a smile and paid her respects to Han Si Que, ”Jing’er greets Eldest Uncle.”

Han Si Que was aware that Su Yaogeng had adopted a daughter, rumored to be extremely ugly, yet Su Yaogeng adored her uncontrollably. He had often wondered if he and Zheng’er had a child, whether she would have been just as adored.
