The Deadly Hitwoman: The Heiress's Special Abilities

Chapter 70: Chapter 70: Caught a Chill or Poisoned? (Part 3)

Su Xingyan’s face was filled with determination, and there was a faint pallor he could not hide, which made the Emperor feel a bit suspicious.

”Someone, summon the imperial physician,” the Emperor ordered.

Soon, the imperial physician arrived, the same Old Doctor Wang who had treated Su Xingyan at noon.

Old Doctor Wang felt a slight ache in his teeth upon seeing Su Xingyan. Why is it Prince Ling again?

”This old minister greets Your Majesty, Prince Ling,” Old Doctor Wang knelt and paid his respects.

The Emperor waved his hand, ”Enough, enough, quickly examine Prince Ling. Has he really been poisoned?”

”Your Majesty,”

”Father,”

Two voices sounded simultaneously, and Old Doctor Wang glanced at Prince Ling and obediently closed his mouth.

The Emperor looked at the two with some curiosity. What’s going on?

”I ask Father to invite a few more imperial physicians,” Su Xingyan suggested, unable to directly criticize Old Doctor Wang as an incompetent in front of the Emperor, and instead suggested bringing in others for a diagnosis.

”In reply to Your Majesty, I have already examined Prince Ling at noon. Please pardon this old minister’s limited knowledge, as I could not diagnose what poison Prince Ling has encountered. Your Majesty should invite colleagues from the Imperial Hospital to treat Prince Ling together,” Old Doctor Wang lowered his head, looking as if he was helpless and powerless.

The Emperor...

Cannot diagnose it?

”In that case, summon all the imperial physicians on duty in the Imperial Hospital to diagnose Prince Ling together,” the Emperor also felt something was amiss.

If Yan’er was not poisoned, he wouldn’t dare to rashly concoct stories in front of him, but Old Doctor Wang has been at the Imperial Hospital for 30 to 40 years, a seasoned member of the hospital, unlikely to deceive the Emperor.

However, we would only know for sure once all the imperial physicians arrive.

In less than a quarter of an hour, a dozen or so imperial physicians had gathered in the Imperial Study Room, including the Dean of the Imperial Hospital and several esteemed Directors.

The Emperor did not say much and instructed Lin Yuanzheng to lead the imperial physicians to examine Su Xingyan in turn.

Su Xingyan was convinced he had been poisoned because, before visiting the Eldest Princess Mansion and meeting Han Jing, he was perfectly fine. It was only after being targeted with a hidden weapon that he felt cold all over, his limbs stiff. What else could it be but poisoning?

However, as he watched the tightly furrowed brows of the physicians, he also felt somewhat uneasy. What was this expression about? The Imperial Hospital was supposed to gather the most renowned doctors from the entire Nanyao Country, surely they can diagnose a poison?

The imperial physicians indeed looked troubled and hesitant, except for Old Doctor Wang, who stood in a corner, head down, pretending he hadn’t seen anything.

Hmph, let them diagnose, let’s see who can diagnose a simple chill, not even a cold, into something elaborate!

Nearly half an hour passed, and just as dinner time approached, the physicians were still murmuring without anyone stepping forward to provide a conclusion. The Emperor had already read several memorials and could no longer bear it, so he asked, ”What’s going on? It’s been so long; my ministers, have you diagnosed what poison Prince Ling has?”

The imperial physicians...

In front of the Emperor, no matter how bold the physicians were, they dared not risk the crime of deceiving the ruler! Lin Yuanzheng had no choice but to step forward and kneel, ”In reply to Your Majesty, the conclusion reached by all the physicians is that Prince Ling has likely caught a chill, showing symptoms of a slight cold, hence the feeling of coldness, and it is not poisoning.”
