Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 2028: Chapter 2030: Owe You an Apology

”I’m sorry, I didn’t fulfill my duties as a daughter-in-law, I didn’t take good care of your mother, and I let her get lost.” Cheng Su looked at Qi Taiguo and slowly said.

No matter what, she owed him an apology for how things turned out.

She was his wife, and while he was out working hard, he entrusted his family to her—that was trust. Yet she failed him and didn’t take care of his family, especially now that it was his mother who had been kidnapped.

Which man doesn’t care about his own mother?

Although Qi Taiguo said nothing, as Cheng Su knew, he was anxious because that was the person who gave him life and raised him!

If someone gets hurt or loses their life because of his own issues, he would feel guilty for a lifetime.

Therefore, Cheng Su owed him an apology because she failed in her duties as a wife and daughter-in-law, she didn’t handle things thoroughly, and now the person was lost; she bore some responsibility, even if Mother Qi herself was greedy for money.

If she had thought a bit more, arranged for a few more people around for protection instead of being so complacent, would things have turned out this way?

Hearing that apology, Qi Taiguo felt a blockage in his heart, held her hand and said, ”What nonsense are you talking about? How could this be related to you? If anyone needs to apologize, it’s me. It was because I didn’t handle things well back then that we ended up with such a disaster.”

If he could turn back time, he would rather have been poisoned than let Chiang Qing save him, leading to such entanglement.

Cheng Su sniffed and wiped the corner of her eye with the back of her hand.

”Don’t blame yourself or feel guilty, you’ve already done very well, taking good care of the house and the child too. It’s me who should apologize. I didn’t fulfill my responsibilities as a husband and a son!” Qi Taiguo said candidly, ”I’ve been away for so long, depending on you for everything. Really, Susu, thank you, and I’m sorry.”

Cheng Su leaned her head over, tears streaming down again; for so long, she hadn’t been without grievances.

”I truly thought Xiao Qi was her primary target, so most of the manpower was with him, and I was the second target. We are the soft spots and weaknesses, but I neglected Mother-in-law and didn’t expect her to switch targets.” Cheng Su said softly.

”That’s understandable; it’s just that she didn’t see any other way and exploited an opportunity. Besides, it’s also Mom’s greed for advantage...” Qi Taiguo said coldly, ”If Chiang Qing dares to harm my mom, I’ll kill her!”

They sat on the sofa, speechless for a while.

”I haven’t told Dad about this yet, what do you think...” Cheng Su looked up.

The incident happened too suddenly; she hadn’t figured out how to handle it before he returned. Fortunately, he came back in time, so she didn’t have to bear it alone!

Qi Taiguo thought for a moment and said, ”Let’s not tell them for now. There’s no news yet, and telling them would just make them worry unnecessarily. Dad is getting old; if he knew, who knows if he’d be able to handle it.”

He was the eldest son and the backbone, so Cheng Su listened to him.

”Not telling them is also a good idea!” Cheng Su asked, ”What do you think she’ll demand? Money? Or...”

There was a chilling glint in Qi Taiguo’s eyes as he said, ”No matter what she wants, she won’t escape!”

Cheng Su heard the coldness in his voice and was neither surprised nor scared. At that moment, she felt her stomach was empty and remembered that Qi Taiguo had just returned too.

”You just got back, I’ll cook some noodles, a simple meal.” Cheng Su stood up.

Qi Taiguo nodded, crossing his hands and resting his chin on them, his gaze distant, lost in thought.
