Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 2025: Chapter 2027: Face-to-Face Encounter

Cheng Yaozu rushed back from his mother-in-law’s house, looking a bit annoyed. It’s not that he cared much about Cheng Su’s mother-in-law, but here in Guangcheng, on their Cheng family’s territory, they spread a wide net and still couldn’t catch Chiang Qing in the sea of people.

Not being able to catch her was one thing, but now Chiang Qing went a step further and kidnapped Cheng Su’s mother-in-law. With so many people involved and they still couldn’t stop her, he felt really humiliated.

”...It’s my fault for not being prepared enough, and she succeeded!” Cheng Yaozu said apologetically to Cheng Su.

Cheng Su quickly responded, ”How can I blame you? You’ve already helped us a lot. Besides, if she was determined to act, she would eventually find an opportunity if she stayed patient and waited!”

Now, didn’t she exploit a gap? Who knew she would go for Mother Qi instead.

”We’re family, there’s no need for these words. Now that someone has been kidnapped, Fourth, quickly contact the city bureau’s director so we can find her as soon as possible. Otherwise, if Xiao Qi’s Grandma gets too frightened, that’s one thing, but most of all, we’re afraid she won’t be able to bear the ordeal,” Old Master Cheng said.

”I already contacted them before I came back; they will send someone over to investigate the situation immediately!” Cheng Yaozu said. ”Since that woman has already acted and kidnapped someone, she is bound to make demands. If we can’t find her now, we’ll have to wait!”

”Then I should return to my place!” Cheng Su stood up and said.

Old Master Cheng responded, ”Why go back? We can communicate right here!”

”Old Master, the address Chiang Qing knows is my house. If there’s any news, it would be sent to that place. Let’s not drag the mansion into this storm; if we draw attention, it might make people think something is wrong with the Cheng family. Don’t worry, I will report any news I receive,” Cheng Su said.

”But you, it’s probably not safe,” Old Master Cheng hesitated.

”The bodyguards will all be with me!” Cheng Su smiled slightly.

”Alright then,” Old Master Cheng nodded, turning to Fei Yin, ”Instructor Fei, Xiao Qi is very safe at home, but I need to trouble you to stay with Cheng Su for a while.”

”I was thinking the same!” Fei Yin looked at Cheng Su.

Cheng Su looked at Qi Xiaoqi. At this moment, Qi Xiaoqi was anxious and angry, but he couldn’t do anything; after all, he was just a child, so he could only be an obedient child, nestling beside the Old Master, saying, ”I will stay at home obediently.”

”Be good, don’t run around.” Cheng Su patted his head.

As night fell, countless lights came on. A tall figure appeared at Cheng Su’s doorstep.

He brushed his hair, adjusted his collar, cleared his throat, and then raised his hand to knock on the door.

Hopefully, she won’t be frightened!

Qi Taiguo grinned; yes, he had returned, having applied for a leave from the army to rush back.

Imagining Cheng Su’s surprise when she saw him made Qi Taiguo’s heart race, filling him with excitement.

He knocked on the door again, waiting with hands at his sides. However, no one answered. He leaned in his ear, but there was no sound from inside, and looking through the crack, no light seemed to be coming from inside.

What’s going on? Not at home at this hour?

Qi Taiguo glanced at his watch. Where have they gone, this late?

Could they have gone to the Cheng house? After waiting for a while without anyone opening the door, Qi Taiguo decided not to wait any longer. He picked up his luggage and turned to head downstairs.

He wanted to try his luck at the Cheng house, maybe she was there. He was impatient to see her.

He had just stepped down a flight of stairs when he heard voices coming from below. Qi Taiguo and a group of people bumped into each other, both sides were taken aback.
