Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 2021: Chapter 2023: I’ll Compensate You

The grandson went to the Cheng family, the daughter-in-law went to work at the company, and Mother Qi was at home bored out of her mind, so she called her son. Her son had gone for a summer job internship at the Cheng family, and her daughter Fengping also said she found a summer job, so she wouldn’t be coming.

Mother Qi was bored to death, thinking about what Cheng Su said, that if she wanted, she could go shopping.

But this Guangcheng is so big, where would she know where to shop, what if she got lost, and besides, she didn’t want to spend.

She suddenly remembered Father Qi saying that back home, there were neighbors to visit and chat with; here, she didn’t know anyone, couldn’t even chat, just stayed in watching TV.

Completely bored.

Bong bong bong, the clock on the wall chimed four times; it was time to buy groceries and cook again.

Thankfully, Cheng Su had taken her to the market before; it was near home, otherwise, she probably wouldn’t know where to go.

”You come with me to buy groceries.” Mother Qi looked at the bodyguard Ding who was smoking on the balcony.

Bodyguard Ding immediately stood up upon hearing this, without saying a word, but his eyes slightly brightened.

He was also quite bothered about accompanying the old lady, honestly, it was more suffocating than a good fight, but unfortunately, his skills weren’t as high as the other bodyguards, so he could only protect this old lady.

That’s right, initially, they were sent to guard Qi Xiaoqi and Cheng Su, and Mother Qi was just an add-on.

But staying at home all day was really suffocating, going out now was like getting some air; it was a good thing.

The two went downstairs one after the other, Mother Qi directly shoved the grocery basket into Bodyguard Ding’s hands; she really walked ahead like a queen.

It was nearing evening, the market was crowded, Mother Qi picked and chose, haggling for half a day over a scallion.

Bodyguard Ding looked around in boredom, watching each person cautiously.

”Hey bro, got a light?” A guy came over.

Bodyguard Ding was holding the grocery basket in one hand, the other hand behind his back, giving him a cold look: ”Scram!”

The guy was startled, quickly walked away muttering, what a nutcase, can’t even lend a light, what kind of person is this!

Bodyguard Ding glared at him, then looked towards the old lady picking vegetables, and continued scanning around.

Mother Qi picked a bunch of scallions and put them in the basket, damn, these scallions are so expensive, it’s daylight robbery!

”That’s enough, let’s go!” Mother Qi called her attendant.

”Make way, make way.”

Someone rushed over carrying a small basin of pig’s blood, and as they reached the pair, their foot twisted, spilling it everywhere.

”Oh my gosh, what’s happening here? You dead kid, can’t you walk? My goodness, my foot is all bloody now.” Mother Qi jumped up.

It was just a half-grown kid, about fifteen or sixteen years old, looking at Mother Qi with a face full of fear, said: ”I’m sorry, elderly woman, I didn’t mean it, I...” He glanced at the bodyguard with a sullen face looking at his leg, almost bursting into tears: ”Bro, I-I really didn’t mean it, boohoo!”

”Forget it!” Bodyguard Ding probably pitied him, just shook his foot.

”Bro, there’s a toilet over there, do you want to wash it off? I’ll compensate you with money.” The boy shakily took some money from his pocket and pointed to the toilet not far away.

Mother Qi’s eyes lit up; compensation.

”No need!” Bodyguard Ding didn’t care for the crumpled small bills.

But Mother Qi’s eyes twinkled: ”Hey, why not take it? Our shoes are expensive, go, you go to the toilet and wash up.”

”Old lady...” Bodyguard Ding frowned.

Mother Qi pushed him, seized his basket, and said: ”You go! I’ll go after you, otherwise, we have to carry the groceries in, are we still going to eat tonight? They’ll stink the place up!”
