Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 2019: Chapter 2021: Looks Familiar

Going to the orphanage, of course, you can’t go empty-handed. With a grand gesture, Cheng Yaozu donated a large batch of winter quilts, pens and paper, toys, food, and other items, filling up a whole vehicle and heading to the orphanage.

Of course, he did all this in the name of Yaojiang Group, a gesture for good deeds and promoting its name.

”Thanks to President Cheng for sending so many things. The kids will always remember your kindness,” Cheng Su said with a smile.

Cheng Yaozu raised an eyebrow, ”Sounds like it’s your orphanage.”

Cheng Su smiled without saying a word and walked over when she saw the children running towards her.

”President Cheng, on behalf of the children, I thank you,” the director said with a bow, smiling at Cheng Yaozu.

Seeing Cheng Su already playing with the kids, Cheng Yaozu replied, ”No need to thank me. The children are the flowers of our country, and we must cherish them.”

The director nodded with a smile.

Cheng Su started dancing with the children, and a girl ran out from the house, laughing as she joined in.

Cheng Yaozu saw the child and paused.

”That’s...”

The director looked over and said with a smile, ”Oh, that’s Little Cheng Su, the child Cheng Su sponsors.”

”What? Is it the same name or what’s the deal? What’s her name?” Cheng Yaozu was stunned.

”Yes, they share the same name. Cheng Su gave her that name the day after she arrived.” The director explained.

Cheng Yaozu asked her, ”The next day?”

The director nodded, ”They have a special connection...” and started recounting the situation when Cheng Su first came years ago.

Cheng Yaozu listened and felt that it was somewhat odd. Why would she sponsor a child so early, and so...

This is so strange. It’s like she purposely came to find this child, knowing someone would abandon her? What a joke, she’s not a Prophet.

”It’s a pity, they are connected by fate, yet they can never become family,” the director said with a hint of regret in her tone. They seem so close, almost like destiny brought them together.

Cheng Yaozu said, ”Even though she hasn’t adopted her, she cares for the child more than family! For this child, that woman even investigates a killer with an unknown background and hasn’t given up yet.”

”Yes.” The director nodded with a smile.

As they talked, Cheng Su came over holding the child’s hand.

Cheng Yaozu watched the pair walking over, feeling an increased sense of strangeness. Clearly two people, yet they seemed disturbingly harmonious, almost like they were one. He lifted his camera, snapped a few pictures, and focused on the child.

Observing more closely, he felt an unsettling familiarity with the child.

Before Cheng Yaozu could articulate why, Cheng Su was already close, waving at him, ”Hey, what are you staring at?”

”Is this your daughter?” Cheng Yaozu joked.

What daughter? Cheng Su glared at him.

Cheng Yaozu squatted down, observing Little Cheng Su, glancing left and right, growing more familiar with each look.

The little one seemed frightened by him, pulling back behind Cheng Su, who said, ”What are you doing, don’t scare the child.”

Cheng Yaozu’s train of thought was interrupted again. He stood up and said, ”I am a good guy, Super Dad, how could I scare the child?”

The little one peeked out from behind Cheng Su’s legs, staring unblinkingly at Cheng Yaozu.

Cheng Yaozu made faces at her, causing her to retreat again, making him laugh.
