Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1578: Chapter 1579: The Oil Theft Incident

This time with the housing allocation, there were those who were happy, those who were worried, and those who were envious. Naturally, those who got a good floor and a good layout were happy, just like Cheng Su’s household, while those on the lower floors facing northwest were worried. What to do during the hot summer?

But no matter what, whether good or bad, getting a house of one’s own was still much better than not qualifying for one at all.

The layouts each family got during the allocation would be registered, and once the new buildings were completed, they could move in.

Cheng Su and their family got a good house, so they were, of course, overjoyed and even had a celebration. But there were also many who were envious and jealous. Nonetheless, some people were already looking forward to Cheng Su’s household’s former place.

Why?

Because once they have the new house, this current dormitory would naturally be vacated. Everyone knew Cheng Su’s household had recently renovated it, only a few years back. Moving into it would definitely be better than their current situation.

So those above the deputy company level were secretly making moves to try and secure that house.

Even Sister-in-law Song next door wanted that house!

”I really don’t know where she gets her confidence from. Her husband, Song Cheng, to put it bluntly, is just a platoon leader. How could he possibly arrange to get Cheng Su’s house? Truly wishful thinking!” Chunhua sneered to Guiying.

Guiying just smiled and said nothing. She, too, was quite amazed by Sister-in-law Song’s wishful thinking.

As for Cheng Su, she didn’t say a word. As long as you neither steal nor scam, and rely on your own ability, who knows, she might actually get the right to live in that house.

She just didn’t expect that Sister-in-law Song would actually do such sneaky things.

That day, Cheng Su was returning from a run on the field and heard her arguing with Chunhua.

”...I’ve always kept my oil here. I know how much I have used. It’s strange, I’m eating at the factory every day, and my Old Liang eats at the canteen too, only using a little oil in the evening, yet it diminishes day by day. If it’s not you secretly using it, then who?” Chunhua shouted in the kitchen: ”We’re all neighbors. Is there any point in doing sneaky things like this?”

”Who secretly used it, which eye of yours saw me use it?” Sister-in-law Song roared back.

Chunhua sneered, ”If it’s not you, then who else? Usually, mice steal oil, when did you, Chen Datao, turn into a mouse too? My oil has always been here, for so many years, it’s never decreased. Since you arrived, it gets less and less each day, ha.”

Chen Datao was Sister-in-law Song’s full name. Hearing this from Chunhua, her eyes betrayed a hint of avoidance, yet she pretended to be calm, saying, ”It’s really funny, isn’t it? In this kitchen, people come and go all the time. Anyone could have used it. You have no proof, why are you accusing me?”

Cheng Su frowned, hearing this, walked in and said, ”What’s going on here?”

”You came just in time. In the past, when Hualing was around, whose oil among us wasn’t kept in common cupboards, and whose oil ever went short? It’s always been fine, then she moved in, and my oil started decreasing. If it’s not her using it, then who else? You, Cheng Su, have money, would you use it? Guiying too, their family runs an oil mill, and they get their oil from back home.” Chunhua huffed, ”I’m not so stingy about a few drops of oil, but we’re all neighbors, living close by each other. Isn’t it disgraceful to do this sort of thing? Today it’s stealing oil, later on, will it be breaking into the house to take things? Cheng Su, you better be careful, always lock your doors. Don’t regret it once a thief gets in!”

”Liang Family, who are you calling a thief?” Sister-in-law Song shrieked.

”Whoever responds is the one!” Chunhua sneered.
