Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1577: Chapter 1578: Drawing for a Good Apartment

At the end of September, welfare was distributed in the army, and those above the deputy battalion level could get housing. The size of the house varied according to rank, and those of the same rank drew lots for floor plans and layout.

This was Cheng Su’s first time participating in such an event, and the large conference room even had congratulatory banners hanging up. Everyone eligible for housing gathered here, whispering among themselves.

Cheng Su, upon her mother’s request, brought along Qi Xiaoqi, saying she needed Xiao Qi’s pure hands to draw a good floor.

The new building had a total of seven floors, four apartments per floor. The largest apartment exceeded 100 square meters, and even the smallest was over eighty. Based on Qi Taiguo’s rank, their family could only get the smallest one.

Size was not a big issue, but the floor level was crucial. Cheng Su dreamed of getting the fourth or fifth floor, not too high or too low, with good views and ample light. If it’s too low, the light would be too dim.

Everyone wanted a place with good lighting, because people like sunshine. It’s not just about drying clothes; sunshine flooding inside brings positive energy and is good for health.

Hence, at this moment, everyone was competing fiercely, hoping to draw a good floor.

Cheng Su was no exception.

”Sister-in-law Qi, you brought your son along? Planning to use his pure hands?” someone asked with a smile.

Cheng Su replied, ”Yeah, hoping to catch some of my son’s luck.”

”Isn’t this kid less than three months old? Can he draw?”

”It’s just for good luck, nothing much,” Cheng Su said with a grin.

”Honestly, it’s all the same; it’s a new house. Even if you don’t get a good floor plan, with Sister-in-law Qi’s wealth now, you could buy a big new house outside, right?” someone said sourly.

Cheng Su smiled and said nothing.

Sister-in-law Gao, who had always been close to Cheng Su, said, ”I disagree with that. Having money to buy is from one’s own ability, but this housing allocation is from a man’s hard work. How is that the same? This is national welfare; our family men go on missions and battlefields, risking their lives for what? Isn’t it for their families to live better?”

”Sister-in-law Gao is right, and besides, who would dislike something free? I certainly wouldn’t; give me several more apartments, and I’d gladly take them!” Cheng Su said with a laugh.

”Really? I see you usually treat money like dirt; isn’t your home filled with nice things?” that person remarked sourly.

”Except for a house. Plus, I’m really a vulgar person; I surely love these mundane things, and the house is no exception.” Cheng Su shamelessly self-deprecated.

That person was left speechless by her cheekiness and turned away awkwardly.

”Ignore her; she’s just sour grapes,” Sister-in-law Gao whispered in Cheng Su’s ear.

Cheng Su nodded.

Soon, the draw began, and everyone at the venue started gearing up.

The box containing room numbers had balls labeled with room numbers, and draws were organized by rank.

”My precious, whether we live in a good house depends on your luck!” Cheng Su touched Qi Xiaoqi’s little hand and said.

Qi Xiaoqi thought, my mom is indeed quite traditional.

Cheng Su silently prayed in her heart. When it was their family’s turn to draw, she felt very nervous and went forward together with Qi Taiguo.

”You do the draw!” Qi Taiguo said with a teasing smile as he looked at her hopeful eyes.

Cheng Su kissed her son before reaching into the box, fishing around among the little balls, and picked one up to take a look.

402.

It was the unit with good cross-ventilation, and Cheng Su was overjoyed. Even Qi Taiguo beamed with delight. Good floor, good orientation, indeed lucky.
