The Dark Rebirth of Pandora: Revenge of the Abyss

Chapter 247: Perspective of the Saint

”Ouch... I-It hurts... why does it take so long to heal?” I murmur in pain as the tears fall, I don’t know what kind of poison Pandora used on me, but it hurts so much and it’s so hard to cure it.

I can’t breathe properly, and I feel a burning sensation throughout my body, besides feeling a bit dizzy and tired.

The worst part is the things I discovered from this conversation, I always knew that Grand Duchess Pandora was a damn sadistic monster, look at what she did to me, I, the saint of the kingdom, reduced to this pitiful mess.

I hate being so afraid of her, but I can’t overcome the trauma I have from her, I always feel weak when I’m around her and I’m afraid of being killed by her, she scares me more than any high-level monster I’ve ever faced.

”...” It takes me almost half an hour to cure this damn poison, having to do it manually, it was terrible to get rid of it and I only managed to do it after noticing what the principle was.

Now if I’m poisoned by this again, I’ll be able to cure it relatively quickly, but if she just changes one principle, I’ll have another difficulty in figuring out the difference.

”Haaa...” I get up from the ground and grab one of the insects that fell from my body.

’This... is disgusting... did she really put these things in me? What the hell are these?’ I feel repulsed to know that these things are inside my body, I’ve never noticed them.

I had even noticed certain strange things happening with my body, but nothing that indicated that there were insects living inside me, all I thought was that something was a little different, and even using magic, it didn’t seem to have anything, so I just ignored it.

And now there’s nothing I can do, if I need these things to survive, then Pandora has 100% control over my life, I just wonder why she wants to go to the church.

Pandora’s actions are confusing, first she enters the academy as a student, then somehow manages to get in as a teacher and even forces Director Akari to make me spend more time at school.

And finally, she says she wants my help to enter the church, I wonder if she knows something about the Pope that she shouldn’t.

But just questioning won’t make me discover what’s going on in that damn psychopath’s head.

”...” I crush the insect in my hand, there’s no blood or magic in them, I seriously wonder what these things are, I think the fact that they don’t have magic in their bodies is what made it harder to find them.

Moreover, Pandora seems much stronger than before, frighteningly strong, she only bled against one of my most damaging individual magics I have.

This magic is strong enough that if used on Director Akari’s arm, the arm would be torn off or severely damaged, and yet Pandora only bled.

Someone’s mana obviously works as a natural shield even without using mana armor, that is, the more mana you have, the more naturally resistant your body becomes.

If Pandora barely suffered damage from such an attack even without mana armor, how much mana does she really have? This is absurd, basically she has more mana than the strongest mage in humanity.

And apparently, if what she said is true, she has a fight to the death against the strongest man in humanity, she’s just insane.

I’m not a fighter, so it makes sense that my attack power isn’t high, but I’m still the saint and have considerable attack power, so her just resisting with a slight bleeding shows how frightening she is.

”...” I just hope I don’t have another terrible conversation like this.

Walking back to the location where the heroes were while thinking about all this, I see that everyone is already standing, probably Pandora won’t give them more time to rest.

I just fear the moment she comes to get the answer she wanted, what will I do? Should I refuse to take her to the church and run the risk beyond suffering something terrible? Or should I accept and just take her to the church?

Without knowing what she wants at the church, it’s difficult to accept, if it was something that could cause problems for the Pope, I should do my best to prevent her from going to the church, the Pope should not be affected in any way.

I look at Pandora, who is yelling at the students to hurry up, she looks at me and gives me a chilling smile that makes me shudder as I look away, she’s terrifying, after having grown up and matured, she’s even more frightening.

I start to just follow the heroes without looking at Pandora, as if that could prevent me from becoming a target of conversation with her.

”...”

”Saint, is something wrong?” One of the students asks after we’ve been walking for almost 2 hours and she notices I seem uncomfortable.

’What was her name again?’ I don’t remember, and I don’t care about that, I have too many concerns to care about a mere inconvenient student trying to talk to me.

”No... I’m fine... H-Hyaa?” Pandora appears behind me, I know because of the mana and it scares me, there’s only one thing I fear in all existence, and that thing is Pandora.

”Rosaline, we’re entering an area where the heroes need healing, pay attention” Pandora just says that before moving on.

”Tsk...” I can’t help but be annoyed even with this ”normal” interaction, the students have barely rested and obviously I’ll have problems here.

Honestly, I’m not worried about the insects inside me, it’s disgusting and uncomfortable to know that there are insects using my body as a home and ecosystem, besides the fact that I know my life is under the control of another.

However, what really scares me is the proximity to Pandora, it’s like a trigger that automatically activates my past traumas and reminds me that I only did myself wrong by arrogantly judging her as just someone overestimated.

”...” The students stop and I notice an extremely wide and deep ravine, I feel the presence of several Rank B monsters there, they seem to be insect-type, composed mainly of spiders, centipedes, scorpions and millipedes.

Insect-type monsters are usually weak, you just need to deal with the poison and the extra legs in physical combat, but they are weak to fire, lightning and ice magic.

These are 3 relatively simple elements to have, and in this large group, we have several who have excellent affinity for these elements.

”Okay students, jump!” Pandora says, pointing to the ravine.

”What? Professor, it’s a ravine! And I’m sure I saw things crawling on the walls!” A student speaks and others start talking as well, while some more daring ones stare at the edge of the ravine.

”...”

’She’s going to do something crazy’ I quickly start floating and at the same time Pandora steps on the ground with so much force that everything collapses, dropping all the students down without a hint of care.

”[Sacred Healing Barrier]” I create a powerful healing barrier around that will heal everyone even if they get hurt, so there won’t be any deaths.

Pandora is flying with strange black wings, just observing without being able to hide a diabolical smile while I just watch her.

The students down there try to get into formation, but quickly face the biggest problem of insect-type monsters.

They are weak and have various weaknesses, this is true, but the amount of them is so great that certain swarms can get an S-class rating even though they are just B or A-class monsters.

Even worse are the insect-type hive monsters that have a collective mind connected to a queen, which is probably the case in this dungeon, these monsters have a mind that automatically generates perfect and strategic formations.

Advancing like a tsunami of insects towards the targets, and that’s exactly what happens, hundreds to thousands of insects advance against the heroes, and the weakest mentally who are afraid of their grotesque appearances are terrified.

It’s a real mess down there, the students with their disorganized formation are getting hurt a lot and being poisoned, if it weren’t for my healing barrier, they would have already died.

Fortunately, the heroes are strong, so no one dies with just one blow, and with that they can continue, the smartest ones like Hana quickly discover the weakness to fire and lightning they have.

The weakness to fire works on their bodies and the weakness to lightning is due to the hive mind that receives interference due to the electrical waves.

No one seems to have noticed the weakness to ice, since the cold climate is something the insects hate and interferes with their coordination and thermal control, reducing their strength.

However, the mess of dead insects and injured heroes down there is not what matters, what matters is the diabolical smile that Pandora gives while watching the scene, she doesn’t even care that I’m looking.

She is 100% focused on looking at the heroes with sadism.

’...They’re taking more damage’ Stronger insects started to appear, at this rate the heroes will die.

”Temporary healing magic [Angel’s Tears]” I use a healing magic on them that works as time passes, so they won’t die and receive a slight buff in speed, strength and resistance.

”...” I should complain to Pandora because she’s just letting the heroes get hurt while she’s enjoying it, but I don’t feel any murderous intent at the moment.

So she’s not trying to kill them, she’s just enjoying their suffering, and I’d rather she focus on them instead of me.

That’s why I’ll just stay quiet and watch, it’s better that she keeps all her focus on the heroes and forgets about me, as long as I keep healing them, nothing should happen to me.
