The Dark Rebirth of Pandora: Revenge of the Abyss

Chapter 239: My daughter’s motives

”Daughter, look here!” I say to Azazel, who won’t stop hugging and paying attention to that Pandora toy I made for her, even though I call her, Azazel doesn’t pay attention.

”Daughter, you need to pay attention to learn from mommy” It’s strange to be trying to get a child’s attention in a hallway and the child just ignores me because of the damn toy.

And when I try to take the toy from her, she starts crying really loud, which irritates me, again causing me a strange sensation that I don’t know, I’ve always liked when my victims screamed and cried in despair.

So why does my daughter’s crying bother me and is annoying? I can’t understand this series of strangeness that I feel because of my daughter, but it’s unpleasant.

”Come here” I lift her up as she hugs the toy lovingly, I start taking her to one of my clones who studies a lot about other beings, maybe she can tell me what is so strange in everything I feel and this child does.

”Honestly, I never thought having you would be so complicated” It hasn’t even been 3 hours since she was born and everything is already stressful, and I can’t regenerate the postpartum problems.

Even though any wound has been healed, hormonal or stress problems have not been cured because they are not diseases, wounds or problems, which is making me emotional.

Don’t all beings become like this when they have a child? It never seemed to me that they changed much, but now that it’s happening to me, I notice how difficult it is, who would have thought my clone was right.

I’m not fit to perfectly care for a daughter, it’s only been 3 hours and I’ve already thrown her out the window 3 times and she’s already disappeared more than 29 times, I don’t understand why I still think letting her go will work.

She doesn’t obey me in any way, it’s just that I let her go and turn my eyes for a second and she disappears, the most annoying thing is that she is patient and knows how to wait, I let her go and stared at her for 10 minutes and she didn’t do anything.

But as soon as I look away, she disappears, that is, she purposely waits for me to stop looking at her and then disappears, which only annoys me since she is clearly smart and knows she is annoying me, but she keeps doing it.

She is annoyingly similar to Pandora, who doesn’t accept the opinion or will of others, living as she pleases and trampling over the feelings of anyone around her.

If she weren’t so cute, I would have chained her and put a collar on her! I even tried, but when I put a collar on her, she just froze, looked at the collar, and started crying.

And I don’t even know why, how the hell does a newborn understand what it means to be forcibly contained? Why the hell is Pandora’s race so smart from birth?

The Abyss Goddess created truly annoying monsters, they didn’t need to be that smart, and Azazel knows that her cuteness affects me, so she’s always using it at opportune moments to escape things.

Also, I even tried to change shape and become the height of a child to see if she would have an interest in another child and she looked at me with disgust...it was a stab in my heart.

I felt very bad with her looking at me with disgust, so I quickly went back to adult form, and besides feeling bad, I felt old...it’s as if she was judging me for being an adult pretending to be a child.

This really made me feel very old, her cute little look of disgust was cute, but I couldn’t even enjoy the cuteness since the disgust was directed at me, so that’s why I’m giving up and will ask for help and knowledge from a clone.

As all the clones in my castle try to learn different things in an area, there must be some clone who knows a lot about babies and what to do with them.

I’ll just throw the responsibility to one of the clones as I always do, since at the moment I’m hugging her and carrying her, I know she won’t run away.

However, in addition to all these feelings, what irritates me the most is her interest in Pandora, she seems to like that toy more than me, in other words, she likes Pandora, whom she has never seen, more than me, who am her mother and gave birth to her.

And that’s annoying, why does she like Pandora more? I carried her in my body for months, she was taking my mana to be born, she was using my body as her home, so why is Pandora more important than me?

Why does she prefer a mother she’s never seen than me who is present and caring for her, I don’t understand this, it’s just very annoying that I’m having all the trouble to take care of her while Pandora does nothing and still is the favorite.

And the worst thing is that there’s nothing I can do, after all I got pregnant in secret and Pandora doesn’t even know she now has such a rebellious daughter, I bet that malicious little devil wouldn’t be so rebellious with Pandora.

”Here we are, daughter” I enter the room full of books and papers, here is a researcher who focuses on living beings among other things for her research, this clone of mine has a mature appearance and wears glasses just for style.

She’s wearing a white lab coat with white gloves and is reading some books extremely fast while injecting dragon blood into a plant she fused with a rat.

”Hey, I need...knowledge” I can’t say I need help, it would be humiliating to admit I’m having difficulties with a child and need help right now.

”Do you need help?” The clone says while looking at me, placing the plant aside, she seems to know well the problems I’m going through.

”Help? I don’t need help...I just need a little knowledge...” I won’t just admit that I need her help.

”I see, so if you just want knowledge, read books, but do it elsewhere, this is not the place for you to be with a child” My older and smarter clones are always bold and sharp in their responses.

Because they know I won’t kill them, after all, it’s been millennia to millions of years of their work and learning, which makes killing them a huge loss, I only kill them in the most extreme cases.

”Okay, damn it, I need help! This malicious little devil is messing with my mind and I don’t understand why, and I hate not knowing what’s going on in my body” I end up giving in even though I don’t want to.

”Your daughter is so cute” My clone fails to pay attention to her, my clone comes to me as I sit in a chair holding my daughter in my lap.

”She seems to be hungry, why don’t you feed her?” My clone immediately deduces that she’s hungry.

’She...is hungry?’ She doesn’t seem to be, she’s practically the same as when she was born, she doesn’t seem to feel hungry and seems more interested in the toy.

”Grimm, listen, appearance isn’t everything, have you forgotten what race this girl is? Pandora’s race needs a lot of food at birth, don’t you remember watching Pandora after she was born?”

”She was always looking for hidden food, killing the food reserves in the basement and devouring them in secret, just because she doesn’t look like it doesn’t mean she’s not hungry, they’re a smart race that knows how to hide what they feel to gain tactical advantage.”

”Your daughter is hungry and will need much more than just a few maids to satisfy her hunger” The clone says as my daughter doesn’t pay much attention to her.

”But why doesn’t she drink my milk or blood then? And why does she only run away when I’m not looking?” I question, my clone thinks for a moment.

”But she did drink, at first, your daughter is just showing that she is self-sufficient, she is hunting her own food, it’s natural that it’s like this, her race is naturally a killing machine and vampires are also bloodthirsty.”

”It must just be her instinct compelling her to hunt her own food instead of waiting for food from her midwife, she’s not being disobedient, she’s just showing you that she’s hungry and can hunt her own food.”

”She’s not running away when you’re not looking, she’s just trying to show that even if you’re not there, she can find and hunt food, think of it as her trying to make you proud.”

”...” I feel humiliated, a clone knows more about my daughter than I do, how did I not notice these things.

”Okay...and why am I so stressed and emotional?” I question, trying to change the subject.

”It’s because you had a child, your body is ultimately still a flesh and blood body similar to mortals, your hormonal levels and overall brain work have changed to adapt to your daughter.”

”Naturally, this causes differences in you, but the difference in you is very high because you have...well, you’re very old, and since this is your first child in so long and you’re a bit crazy, you don’t understand the changes well.”

”In short, you’re a mother and you have a mother’s mindset, this is shocking, I never thought you would be able to have motherly feelings like love” My clone speaks clinically, evaluating me.

”If you want your daughter to stop being ’rebellious’ about food, give her live food and just watch her kill and devour her prey, she’ll be much better and more obedient if you let her kill her own food.”

”And about her drinking your milk and blood, as long as she’s well-fed beforehand, for her baby mentality, drinking a lot from you seems harmful.”

”Basically, she’s just worried about hurting you with her hunger, and she’s hunting other things, when her hunger decreases, she’ll go back to drinking your blood or milk.”

”...”

”Grimm, don’t forget, the Abyss Goddess created this race to be extremely loyal and protective of family, your daughter isn’t eating from your blood because she cutely and naively thinks you’ll get hurt if she tries to satisfy her hunger.”

”...Okay, how much food should I get for my daughter?” I ask, looking at my daughter playing with Pandora’s doll.

”Since she’s only eating blood and ignoring the meat, I think between 20 and 60 vampires should be enough, currently she’s only managed to eat 5 because you stopped the rest before she could finish.”

’So you were watching...tsk...’

”Okay, I’ll go feed her, I’ll be back here later” I say as I get up holding my daughter.

”Grimm, there’s no shame in asking for help, especially for something as important as a daughter, your clones are also you, we care too, try to be less proud.”

”I’ll see what I can do” I neither agree nor disagree as I leave the room with Azazel in my arms, I’ll go get food for my daughter.
