CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 1856: Chapter 1864: That’s Settled Then

”Brother.” Peter entered and saw no one else in James Black’s office, so he opened his mouth and called out ”Brother,” indicating that he was here to discuss personal matters.

”Have little Jane’s grandparents gone back?” Peter sat down opposite James Black, casually wiping the sweat off his forehead with his palm and then brushed it on his trousers, causing James Black to frown.

”Hey, brother, don’t give me that look, we’re all sweating buckets here, it’s quite normal.” Peter noticed his brother’s disdainful gaze and urged, ”Quickly, tell me the main business.”

”No,” James Black finally said, ”Old Sir Carter and Old Madam Carter went to the cemetery to offer incense to Old Sir Sampton and Granny Sampton. They’re planning to stay in the Capital Province for a few days, rest a bit before heading back.”

”What about Jillian Carter? After Jillian Carter’s wrist-slitting suicide attempt, what’s their attitude?” Peter leaned over the table, ”Did Jillian Carter really want to die or is she just putting on a self-harming act? I really didn’t expect Jane’s parents would belong to the Carter Family, and that the Carter Family also has this annoying Jillian Carter.”

Peter’s palm slapped the table with a loud noise, ”Jillian Carter is utterly shameless, occupying little Jane’s home. It’s one thing for her to treat little Jane like that in the past, but now she even dares to slit her wrists and suicide, luring Jane’s parents back from the Capital Province. This woman is truly despicable.”

”Mine,” James Black corrected Peter’s misplaced words again, ”not ours, but just mine alone. If I hear you say it wrong again next time, go punish yourself.”

”???” Peter was baffled, ”Is this the main point? The main point is I...”

The urge for survival made Peter swiftly continue, ”The main point is whether my brother’s little Jane will get bullied at the Carter Family, okay?”

”No need to care whether Jillian Carter is using some self-harming act or not, if the Carter Family can’t handle their family matters now, then there’s no need for them to acknowledge anyone. Your sister-in-law’s grandparents very much adore Jane.” James Black thought, considering the two elders hadn’t hurried back just demonstrated that.

Compared to Jillian Carter, Grandpa Carter and Grandma Carter truly value Jane Sampson, their granddaughter.

”That’s good then, just don’t let anyone bully little Jane.” Once Peter got the answer, he was relieved, nodded, and turned to leave.

After Peter left, James Black directly used his mobile phone to make a call.

The phone rang several times before it was picked up, and a familiar voice came from the other side.

”If you hadn’t called me now, I was planning to call you a bit later.” The person on the call chuckled, ”Didn’t you ask me a few days ago to keep an eye on Jillian Carter? I just discovered some new news: Jillian Carter is making a fuss about divorcing Joseph Shaw, and the Carter Family couple is worried sick about this matter.”

”Why?” James Black felt this choice didn’t quite fit with Jillian Carter’s usual decisions.

”Someone with the status of the Carter Family heiress in the city district should be doing everything to retain the title of Mrs. Shaw. This would be the most beneficial thing for Jillian Carter.”

After all, Joseph Shaw is no longer just an ordinary person nowadays.

”Jillian Carter stayed in the hospital for a few days before Joseph Shaw took her back home. During those days, she saw no one at all, even at home, the nanny was taking care of her, and she wouldn’t even see Joseph Shaw. This morning, she met Minister Carter and Mrs. Carter, and in front of them and Joseph Shaw, she made the request to divorce Joseph Shaw.”
