CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 1838: Chapter 1846: I Don’t Believe It

The words from the parents and elders were like thunderbolts exploding on Jillian Carter’s body one after another.

After hearing the threatening words from Old Sir Carter, Jillian Carter couldn’t come to her senses.

She sat there, her expression blank, her lips trembling lightly, yet unable to utter a single word for a while.

”I...” Jillian Carter slowly shook her head, then gradually, a bit frantically, ”How can I not be daddy and mommy’s biological daughter? How is that even possible? Mother, have you been deceived by Jane Sampson?”

Jillian Carter grabbed Mother Carter’s arm, ”Mother, tell me, you must be deliberately scaring me, you must be joking with me, right?”

”No one would use such matters as a joke to fool someone,” Old Sir Carter said. ”We are just stating a fact to you. We understand that at the moment, you might not be able to accept it, but even if you don’t accept it, you must accept it.”

At this point, Old Sir Carter paused, then spoke again, reminding both Jillian Carter and Joseph Shaw with one sentence.

He said, ”Regarding Jane Sampson being our child, recently, your brother called in the morning asking to keep it confidential. This matter will be made public three months after their film premiere. For now, only the two clans know, so you must keep it secret. Do not mention it to outsiders, anyone, to avoid affecting James Carter and Jane’s work.”

Old Sir Carter’s gaze fell on Joseph Shaw, ”Make sure to manage your wife well, should the news leak, you’ll be the ones questioned.”

”Yes.” Joseph Shaw sat there, reaching out to press down on Jillian Carter’s back of the hand, signaling her not to show excessive emotion.

Only then did Old Sir Carter nod and continue, ”Although Jillian isn’t our biological daughter, she was raised in our home. Even if Jane returns, Jillian, unless there’s an accident, would also be a part of our family, so Joseph Shaw, you still need to take good care of her.”

Many people say that Joseph Shaw married Jillian Carter for the Carter family’s sake.

Such rumors, Old Sir Carter naturally had heard quite a bit.

Even though Jillian Carter had disappointed the family deeply, Jillian Carter, after all, was the child they had watched grow up, cared for, and truly loved.

So, with this one sentence, Old Sir Carter was also exerting pressure on Joseph Shaw, making sure he knows that even if Jillian Carter isn’t the Carter family’s biological daughter, the Carter family will recognize and take responsibility for this daughter. Joseph Shaw must not belittle Jillian Carter, his wife, just because of this change in identity.

However, the rebuke aimed at Joseph Shaw from Old Sir Carter was completely unheard by Jillian Carter at this moment.

Her mind was in chaos, feeling incredibly uneasy.

She knew very well how reprehensible Julie Sampton’s foster parents were, as she had investigated Julie Sampton’s foster parents, intending to use them.

Therefore, she was clearly aware of how disgraceful the Chip Family was.

But she never imagined that her body would be flowing with blood that disgusted her.

Joseph Shaw had been holding Jillian Carter’s hand ever since Granny Carter revealed this matter, thus he could clearly feel Jillian Carter’s hand trembling.

Or rather, her entire being was trembling.

”Jillian?” Joseph Shaw turned his gaze towards Jillian Carter and called her softly.

”I don’t believe it...” Jillian Carter’s voice was filled with unmistakable fear as she kept shaking her head, vigorously shaking her head, as if by denying this matter with all her might, it wouldn’t become true.
