CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 1561: Chapter 1569: Not For Money

”Okay.” Jane Sampson agreed, hung up the phone, looked over at Lucy Brisk, and then said, ”Pack up our stuff, we’re heading back to the studio first.”

”Huh?” Lucy Brisk was stunned for a moment.

But before she could ask why, Jane Sampson had already pushed the door open and left the makeup room.

Jane didn’t go elsewhere but went straight to find the director, who was currently discussing the changes in the script with the male lead. The male lead sat next to the director, his expression indifferent, as if he was listening intently to the director, yet his mind seemed to have wandered off somewhere.

”Director,” Jane Sampson walked over and called out to the director.

She glanced at the male lead sitting there, then spoke to the director, ”I have something I need to discuss with you.”

The male lead gave Jane a look, then stood up, ”I’ll leave you two to talk, I’ll go have a cigarette next.”

The male lead for this drama had known Fiery Fanny from early on, and he was also confirmed by both Fiery Fanny and the film crew. Fiery Fanny had a decent friendship with Jane, so for Fiery Fanny’s sake, the male lead was also relatively friendly toward Jane. Knowing Jane had something to discuss with the director, he didn’t ask further and simply left.

”Ah, go ahead,” the director, having spoken for a long time and now parched, took a sip of water and waited for Jane Sampson to speak.

”Director, I refuse to act according to the new script. The changes are too drastic, the female supporting role has overshadowed the female lead. Because of these changes, the core content has completely altered, the plot trajectory, and the emotional directions of the main characters have all been distorted.” Jane Sampson said with a tone that left no room for negotiation, ”Director, if you insist on using the new script, then I’m afraid you’ll have to find a new female lead.”

Before the director could react, Jane Sampson continued, ”Moreover, the changes in this new script have completely deviated from the original script’s allocation for the female lead’s role, and this is entirely different from the agreement we initially signed.”

”Hey, wait, we’ve already been filming for several days, Jane Sampson, what do you mean by this?” The director was nearly choking on his water, looking rather flustered, ”What’s wrong with this new script then? It hasn’t cut your scenes, act your part well, don’t concern yourself with the supporting role’s matters.”

The director, realizing the new script had its flaws, awkwardly smiled, but then sighed, ”Jane, the supporting role’s matters aren’t solely decided by me, it’s all up to the investors. In the film crew, what’s most important is money, isn’t your acting also for making money?”

”Director, I act not for money,” Jane Sampson interrupted bluntly, ”I act for my dreams.”

From the moment she stepped into this industry, Jane Sampson’s goal had nothing to do with money.

The director was startled by Jane’s words, reflecting on the internet’s claim that Jane was an invisible wealthy heir, recalling her lipsticks worth tens of thousands each, and realizing that from her debut till now, she rarely took on commercial performances, he grudgingly touched his nose. He mused internally, maybe Jane wasn’t acting for money after all.

People act not for money, but for dreams.

Ah, dreams.

That word was once the burning pursuit of his entire life.
