I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 781: Chapter 780: Concede Defeat

When Desan said the person was possessed, naturally no one believed him, but when Yang Jingsong said it, it was different.

The Qingyun School where Yang Jingsong belonged was not as renowned in Gubei Province as the Anshui School, but Yang Jingsong himself was very famous.

It can be said that the Qingyun School being able to hire Yang Jingsong had quite an impact on the overall strength between schools, so although everyone respected Zhong Jiren, no one dared underestimate Yang Jingsong.

Zhong Jiren reacted to Yang Jingsong’s words as well, taking two steps forward to the man, waving his hand in front of him; the man blinked, seemingly trying to see who was waving in front of him, but quickly became dazed again.

No, it’s not daze; it’s deep thought, a state of being completely self-immersed, where no external matter, no matter how significant, can affect him.

”Could it really be possession?” Zhong Jiren frowned and said.

With Old Sir Zhong saying that, everyone exchanged looks; possession strictly speaking wasn’t a disease, but an obsession with certain things. Yet even if obsessed to the point of forgetting meals for days, there would be some response to the outside world.

This person had almost lost the ability to react to the outside world; few would consider possession and instead assume it’s some kind of shock.

However...

Despite two people thinking it might be possession, they still held great skepticism towards Desan, the first to speak of the condition.

Especially seeing his barely controlled, readily evident smug expression, it easily made people think he was bluffing!

Desan coughed twice at this moment, nodded seriously with a solemn expression, and said, ”Indeed, if possession is severe, it becomes an illness, just like this person!”

He pointed to the person sitting on the bed in a daze, with no reaction at all, showing a ’now you understand?’ expression.

The crowd was speechless, casting a glance at Desan; he was purely responding smartly under pressure, hitting the mark accidentally, foolishly considering himself capable.

Mystic Doctors are also adept at reading expressions; they wouldn’t doubt Desan without reason. People like Yang Jingsong and Zhong Jiren are relatively sensitive to spirit, which is a well-known fact. Some families even invite them to assess the spirit of their children to discern their talents.

If Desan were truly capable, these two would certainly have reacted upon his arrival, at least not with such indifference on their faces.

Actually, Tong Anshan’s targeting Desan wasn’t unfounded. He did so because Desan was an outsider.

The Secretary of Gubei Province even went outside to invite a Mystic Doctor to treat this person. Does this mean they look down on local Mystic Doctors or think they’re incompetent?

That’s why he questioned Desan; if Desan was truly capable, it would be fine, but unfortunately...

”Doctor Desan truly has some skills, knowing it’s possession, then you should also know how to treat it?” Tong Anshan asked with a smile.

”Hmm~” Desan looked at the person in deep thought and said seriously, ”As long as it’s an illness, naturally there are ways to treat it.”

”Then we’d like to ask Doctor Desan how he would treat this person?” Tong Anshan refused to relent.

At this point, even the dullest person could see Tong Anshan’s dissatisfaction with Desan. Desan was actually very intelligent; he noticed this person’s feelings towards him from the start, but so what?

Desan looked at Tong Anshan with an expression of guidance and said, ”It’s not really teaching; any illness, no matter what kind, to be cured requires a gradual process...”

Beisitian and Wei Zhongxun exchanged glances, suddenly feeling uneasy.

”...Take possession for instance, who would have thought it was an illness before? No one. Discovering it requires a process, which can be considered an evolution. Previously, possession was just an obsession; now look at this person, it’s definitely an illness. And I can assure you, this is not the first case. People just didn’t think of it this way before...”

Indeed...

Once Third Doctor started, it was like a floodgate opening; nothing could stop it.

Desan spoke for more than half an hour, the whole time discussing the illness but without saying a word about treatment. His eloquence would certainly fool those unaware.

Yet everyone present understood, their faces turned green listening to the end. Forget about treatment methods; they just hoped Desan would immediately shut up!

Tong Anshan’s face was the worst, looking pale and as if about to vomit, gesturing to stop, loudly interrupting Desan’s words, saying, ”I, Tong, admit defeat!”

Desan frowned, ”I was describing the process as gradual, I haven’t said how to treat the possession yet, hey don’t leave, listen to me finish, why are you feeling sick to your stomach?”

Tong Anshan, with a tense expression, rushed out of the ward.

Desan smacked his lips, ”How can a fellow doctor neglect his health like this... Tong’s gone, so let’s continue discussing how to treat the possession.”

Turning back with a bright smile, that unsatisfied expression made Tan Yujun and others tremble with nerves, their mouths twitching, busily waving it off, giving him a wide berth, pretending to discuss matters, never mentioning treatment methods again.

Enough! We can’t bear it anymore!

sighing, he moved to Beisitian and Wei Zhongxun’s side, shaking his head and saying, ”I must say, how can doctors nowadays lack advancement ambition? This newly evolved illness should be thoroughly discussed, yet just a few words and they’re like this?”

Beisitian: ”...” What to do with this stomach discomfort...

Zhong Jiren and Yang Jingsong exchanged glances, seeing the bitterness in each other’s eyes; they initially thought this person was an expert. After all, few could identify it as an illness, but seeing this way, he must be bluffing...

Possession isn’t strictly an illness, but if it evolves into one, it should be a psychological disorder that needs to identify the cause, focusing on sorting out the cause.

Now everyone knows the likely cause of this person’s condition, but does this mean you truly have to wait until finding the missing person or the kidnappers?

This indeed is an unlimited matter, especially since this person disappeared six years ago, then suddenly reappeared in this state, still without any clues.

Desan and others, upon their first day, made groundbreaking progress, at least knowing what the illness was and having some treatment direction.

Cheng ZhenGuo arranged access permits for the three, facilitating their movements.

Back at the hotel, Beisitian became absorbed in thought; what could captivate and obsess a Mystic Doctor so deeply?
