I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 755: Chapter 754: Mommy’s Tongue Hurts...

Today, Luo Xudong was off work. After lunch, the two of them put the child to sleep together. Luo Xudong intended to do something not suitable for children but was playfully pushed away by Beisitian.

So he settled for the next best thing by holding her and taking a nap. He hadn’t slept so soundly in a long time; truly, sleeping while holding his wife felt the most comfortable.

Wang Xueqin came in carrying a fruit tray and froze when she saw Luo Xudong’s smile. She had thought the host never smiled, but it turned out he did, though only for certain people.

Wang Xueqin’s eyes revealed envy; such a man is hard to find, even with a lantern in hand.

Fruit is eaten every day, and it’s selected by the hosts. All she needs to do is wash it, cut it into pieces, and bring it over.

”You’ve worked hard, ma’am. Would you like some tea? I can boil some water for you.” Wang Xueqin asked with a smile.

”No, thanks, just some fruit will do.”

”Alright, if you need anything, feel free to call me.” Wang Xueqin respectfully left the living room.

After Wang Xueqin left, Luo Xudong spoke up, ”It’s time for a change.”

Beisitian looked at his handsome face, understanding he was talking about Wang Xueqin, and asked, ”Why?”

He usually didn’t manage these matters, generally leaving it to Zhou Quan to find people, and had Beisitian manage everything upon their return.

”Too much scheming, not content.” Luo Xudong casually gave an assessment.

Beisitian’s lips curled up into a grin as she squinted and asked playfully, ”What happened while I was away?”

Luo Xudong glanced at her, ”What do you think happened?”

Seeing him unwilling to talk, Beisitian sat beside him, leaned toward his handsome face in a teasing manner, but before she could speak, suddenly felt a big hand under her chin.

Luo Xudong, seeing the ’delicious treat’ offered, saw no reason to hold back. He reached out and supported her chin, his fingers clasped, fixing Beisitian’s pretty face right there.

”Since you came over, I’ll gladly comply.” Luo Xudong finished speaking and covered her soft lips.

Beisitian was kissed so tenderly that she went weak, however...

”Mommy~ what are you doing?”

The ’two doing bad deeds’ both froze, turned their heads, and saw three little buns standing at the doorway, looking seriously at them...

The curiosity in their gaze seemed to sparkle, and their faces were full of question marks. It looked as though they wouldn’t let it go without a reasonable explanation.

Beisitian’s expression turned strange, and she furiously pinched Luo Xudong’s thigh, giving him a look saying, it’s your fault, you explain!

Luo Xudong coughed slightly, grasped Beisitian’s restless hand, his cold facade returning, and said, ”Your mom’s tongue hurt, so I was helping her blow on it.”

If the three little buns fell or bumped into something, they’d need blowing, and the pain would go away...

Beisitian expressionlessly... put a hand on her forehead, what kind of excuse is this!

Three pairs of eyes simultaneously turned to Beisitian, then together ran over with their little short legs.

”Mommy~ did you hurt your tongue?”

”Mommy~ Mango wants to help blow on it too, no pain, no pain~”

”Mommy~ what did your tongue bump into, Ruirui will avenge you!”

Confronted by the little buns’ enthusiasm and concern, Beisitian felt at a loss, while the culprit opted to inhumanely escape the situation now that it was out of control.

”I’m going to check if the water has boiled.” Luo Xudong stood up and walked out, leaving Beisitian to deal with the three little rascals alone.

Beisitian glared daggers at Luo Xudong’s departing figure, looking as if instant noodles would be crushed again tonight.

Luo Xudong returned with Mrs. Qin, and when they came back, the three little troublemakers had been handled. He didn’t know how Beisitian solved it, but felt his wife’s gaze was hostile, better be cautious today.

”Zhou Quan said he found someone.” Mrs. Qin said upon entering.

This implied Beisitian had to decide whether to keep or let go of Wang Xueqin.

This needed no further discussion. Luo Xudong never expressed an opinion, and since he spoke, he surely had his reasons. Though he didn’t elaborate, she trusted him.

”Then let’s replace her.” Beisitian said.

Mrs. Qin had no opinion; her judgment is unreliable when sharp, blinded by Qin Hongmei, and now she’s increasingly blurred, leaving decisions to her son and daughter-in-law.

”Zhou Quan said the person is still on the way, so I’ll tell Sister Ma in the next couple of days and you guys can inform Wang Xueqin yourselves.” Mrs. Qin said.

Her main concern was to explain to Sister Ma.

Wang Xueqin froze as she was about to open the door, her face going pale white. After all her efforts, they still wouldn’t keep her, what more do they want from her!

Wang Xueqin didn’t bring the thermos inside but instead turned and left the courtyard.

Luo Xudong glanced outside, guessing that sound belonged to the helper, before turning to Beisitian and saying, ”Since it’s decided, tell her sooner.”

This helper was scheming, lest more problems arise over time.

Beisitian nodded; her attention had been on the three buns earlier, unaware someone was outside. Besides, her senses were far from matching Luo Xudong’s.

That day, Beisitian informed Wang Xueqin of the matter, whose face showed a pleading expression and said, ”Ma’am, is there anything I did wrong? Please tell me, and I’ll definitely change. Please don’t let me go, I have a child at home to support. It’s tough for a woman to raise a child alone. You also being a mom, you surely understand me, right!”

Wang Xueqin made her final attempt trying to win Beisitian’s heart. Despite their brief interaction, she knew that in this household, at least regarding helpers, Beisitian made the decisions.

”Being a mom is indeed hard, but for the child’s sake, one should walk the usual path.” Beisitian spoke with a gentle smile.

Though Wang Xueqin appeared genuine, one could discern her calculating nature from occasional words. She spoke earnestly but wasn’t sincere.

Beisitian didn’t wish to keep someone like that, initially considering Mrs. Qin’s perspective and with Zhou Quan’s assurance of a clean background, left her for a few days.

Later, Gao Ma also reported some matters to her, indicating Wang Xueqin’s diligence wouldn’t last. Compared to when she arrived half a month ago, she has slackened; long-term, she might turn cunning and lazy.

What does ’usual path’ mean?

Beisitian put it quite politely; in plain terms, it meant not to scheme and to work honestly for the child’s money.

Wang Xueqin didn’t catch onto it at first, but after pondering, she understood. Looking at Beisitian, she realized she hadn’t done anything yet, but was already labeled!

”Alas, I don’t have the fortune to stay here. It’s already late, may I leave tomorrow morning?”
