I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 778: Chapter 777: Understanding the Situation

Cheng ZhenGuo did not make a big scene bringing Beisitian and the others over, instead, he drove over by himself.

They entered through the back gate of the military hospital and parked under a relatively secluded white building.

There were two or three cars parked below; from the time they got out of the car to entering the building, they didn’t see a single person, it was quite remote.

After entering the building, Cheng ZhenGuo said: ”This building is part of the virus experiment section, a highly concealed area of the military hospital, with a high level of confidentiality, so generally, those who come here must be relevant personnel of a specific project.”

Desan nodded his head seriously, walking with his head held high behind Cheng ZhenGuo, though whether he fully understood was unknown.

Beisitian and Wei Zhongxun exchanged a glance; such a place isn’t common in every hospital, it seems this hospital is not an ordinary one.

The group passed through a yellow door, turning right inside, and saw two soldiers on guard at the entrance.

Upon seeing Cheng ZhenGuo, the soldiers turned their gaze to the other people.

”Please present your identification.”

They did not offer any special treatment because of Cheng ZhenGuo’s status as Secretary nor did they allow passage recognizing familiar faces, giving an impression of strict vigilance.

Knowing the special circumstances of this matter, Cheng ZhenGuo immediately presented his credentials, saying, ”I’ve already contacted Dean Zhang, these three individuals are doctors I’ve brought, kindly inform inside.”

”Please wait a moment.”

One of the soldiers opened the door and went inside, soon returning with a man in his fifties, with graying hair, stepping out together.

”Secretary Cheng, thank you for the trouble, please come in!” Dean Zhang exchanged brief pleasantries with the three, then led the four inside.

From outside, the door might be expected to lead to a ward or an advanced suite-like sick room, but upon entering, it revealed a space resembling a research institution.

The layout was entirely fresh, mostly featuring glass windows, inside doctors in white coats were busy, occasionally one could see a patient lying in severe convulsions with several doctors attending nearby.

Some rooms used frosted glass, obscuring the view inside, but had signs marked with ’Confidential’ or ’Laboratory’.

Cheng ZhenGuo and Beisitian’s arrival didn’t attract the attention of those present, though they seemed out of place, perhaps due to their casual attire.

Dean Zhang had deep lines at the corners of his eyes and nasolabial folds, the frown lines on his forehead bore faint traces, although he wore a smile, his eyes held no joy but were filled with matters.

”Come, this way please, this is the staff lounge, you may rest here for a while,” Dean Zhang invited everyone to sit down, then poured hot water from a nearby thermos, steeping some tea leaves for the group.

The tea leaves weren’t anything special, just flower tea costing twenty or thirty dollars a pound, likely meant to refresh.

”You three are brought by Secretary Cheng, you must have some understanding of the situation here, let me explain briefly,” Dean Zhang said.

He took a sip from his cup to moisten his throat, then continued: ”We cannot identify any symptoms in this patient, yet he remains in a dissociated state, spending entire days in a trance, occasionally muttering indistinct words that we cannot comprehend. He should be among the first batch of missing persons.”

This person had initially been on leave, yet remained missing for two years before being declared missing, unexpectedly found some time ago, now six years have passed since his disappearance!

”After being found, he has remained in this condition. We tried contacting his family but to no avail, eventually, higher-ups began to take this matter seriously, intending to cure this person to ascertain the objectives and composition of these people for a complete sweep,” said Dean Zhang.

Though that’s said, with a person missing for such a long time without leaving any trace, achieving a thorough sweep seems unlikely.

Moreover, the patient currently exhibits no discernible symptoms, suggestions of trauma or brain stimulation were ruled out through checks and experiments, seemingly disconnected from the outside world, immersed solely in his own realm.

This is somewhat similar to autism, yet he clearly isn’t an autistic patient, leading the hospital to consult neurologists and neuropsychiatrists, but still no discoveries.

Eventually, through coordination from above, several Mystic Doctors were invited for consultations; Cheng ZhenGuo, as one of the discoverers and responsible for Gubei Province, therefore has the right to information, the hospital hopes he can leverage his resources to summon capable Mystic Doctors for collaborative diagnosis.

After all, Mystic Doctors, while skilled, specialize in various fields, some may not excel in certain domains, thus inviting experts requires consideration.

Further, the fewer who know about this, the better, given the six-year disappearance leaving no trace, announcing it could tarnish some departments’ images and evoke negative sentiments among people, hindering development.

Beisitian understood, it seems the Mystic Doctor consultation has just commenced, previously it was experts from various fields conducting research.

If such issues remain unresolved, Mystic Doctors might indeed find the solution.

”So these are the general circumstances, now that you have some understanding, may I invite you to introduce yourselves for smoother future cooperation,” Dean Zhang said with a smile.

His words were tactful, aiming to discern identities, if reputable, it offers assurance.

While speaking, his gaze naturally fell on Desan, perceiving him as the leader of the three.

”My name is Desan, pleasure to meet you, Dean Zhang; these two are my assistants, helping out as well as gaining experience,” Desan replied cheerfully.

Dean Zhang listened with a smile and upon finishing, asked: ”Are you practicing medicine independently?”

Desan nodded, ”Yes.”

Beisitian knew he was affiliated with a small clinic in Lianyang City, unsure if he even possessed medical qualifications, should Dean Zhang probe deeper, he might be exposed, so she casually glanced at Cheng ZhenGuo.

Cheng ZhenGuo was also acquainted with Desan, they primarily relied on Beisitian this time, hence upon receiving her gaze, he intended to intervene, interrupting Dean Zhang’s inquiry.

Cheng ZhenGuo remarked with a grin: ”Dean Zhang, these three are recruited with great effort by me, they are experienced and highly skilled, not merely assistants as mentioned by Mr. Desan.”

He referred to Beisitian and Wei Zhongxun.

Dean Zhang perceived his words as elevating Desan with the backing of these two young individuals.
