I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 758: Chapter 757: Where Exactly Has She Been

Jiang Mingzhong is in Beijing, but he began accepting tasks through the Association’s distribution there; besides accepting tasks, he would keep a daily eye on task information, especially some old tasks and new ones.

Task selection can be based on one’s own situation, as he was in Beijing, he naturally chose tasks in the nearby area for convenient medical access.

He had taken on a few tasks previously, mostly assisting hospitals with treatment, occasionally in a supportive role, where he could only offer suggestions, and other times as a main force, depending on how the task was issued.

This time, the task Jiang Mingzhong received was an individual commission released through the Association, with the task content being to treat his superior’s daughter.

Jiang Mingzhong went to see her once; the young woman was in her late twenties, seemingly bitten by something, the wound wasn’t large and was a bit inflamed, but not seriously so, yet she couldn’t regain consciousness.

”The patient’s family said that she was infected with some kind of virus, possibly infected at the time of the bite; the wound looks like a snake bite, possibly from a non-venomous snake, as there’s only inflammation,” Jiang Mingzhong sat by the plum blossom table in the courtyard, chatting with Beisitian.

”I’ve tried some detoxifying Xuan Talisman but they did not work, I treated the external wound, the inflammation isn’t a major issue, but figuring out what bacteria specifically was infecting is difficult; the patient’s family says she has been to major hospitals, but no one could identify what bacteria it was,” he said.

”She’s just in a coma now?” Beisitian asked.

Jiang Mingzhong nodded, ”Yes, the symptoms are stable, but she just can’t wake up and it’s a bit different from a vegetative state.”

Wei Zhongxun and Tian Zhiye were also listening in; it was a good opportunity for them to accumulate experience.

Generally, even if unsure, Jiang Mingzhong wouldn’t easily disturb Beisitian and would consult with related doctors, as he was capable of treating patients independently.

Only in such a helpless situation would Jiang Mingzhong have to consult Beisitian.

Beisitian frowned slightly, ”When did the patient start showing symptoms, where did she go before falling ill, and where was she bitten?”

Jiang Mingzhong shook his head slightly, ”The patient is an outdoor extreme sports enthusiast; the family has no idea where she went, and whether they truly don’t know is unknown.”

He had asked, but couldn’t get an answer; the family only claimed ignorance, saying nothing more, asking only for treatment, leaving Jiang Mingzhong a bit helpless.

If the patient’s family knew but wasn’t cooperating, it wouldn’t be easy to handle, Beisitian thought for a moment and said, ”Next time you go, take me with you, I’ll go with you.”

Jiang Mingzhong was eager to have her join; having taken on the task, he needed to complete it, as failure would entail a hefty price. Moreover, he was under much scrutiny within the Association, bearing the banner of Qingyu.

So, to avoid disgracing Qingyu, he didn’t want to give up the task; Jiang Mingzhong’s skills were quite good, notably among the Mystic Doctors, yet with countless complex diseases, he couldn’t know them all.

Especially the tasks that were posted, most are those who have visited every major hospital and sought out famous doctors everywhere and found no solution, only then posting, so some disease conditions in tasks are based on the Mystic Doctors’ credit scores. If below that score, it indicates relatively less experience, and even if one accepts, it can’t be completed, plus there’s a risk of delaying treatment, so generally, Mystic Doctors wouldn’t accept tasks beyond their level.

Jiang Mingzhong certainly wouldn’t do so either but still inevitably encountered ones he couldn’t solve, such as now.

The next day, Little Yu Zhu nervously accepted Beisitian’s assessment, finding it less challenging than expected.

Beisitian’s questions were quite insightful; with just a few, she could gauge Little Yu Zhu’s mastery of this herbal encyclopedia, and passing was naturally no issue.

”This book is my summary, it’s about the basic knowledge of herbal proportions; you can study it yourself, and if you don’t understand, ask Xiao Zhi, his foundation is quite solid,” Beisitian said.

Little Yu Zhu hastily accepted it; what the mentor summarized was always valuable, and Brother Xun said it must be treasured.

In the afternoon, Beisitian and Jiang Mingzhong went to the patient’s home together.

The patient and her family weren’t from Beijing; they had sought medical treatment there, but still couldn’t identify the bacteria, leaving them with no choice but to post a task.

This task posting was very expensive; just publishing the task required two to three thousand, not to mention payment to the Association. In total, it exceeded ten thousand, plus the Mystic Doctor’s fees were terrifyingly high, a bottle of medicine could cost thousands, but where could a single bottle be enough.

The task poster was a coal mine boss, quite wealthy, willing to do whatever it takes to cure his daughter.

The coal mine boss was short, with a big belly, evidence of well-fed days.

Regarding Jiang Mingzhong, he was more than courteous, maintaining a fairly good attitude though his true views were unknown; to him, a Mystic Doctor was just a doctor, no different from an ordinary doctor, except perhaps more expensive.

They were in a large yard in the suburbs, barely past the Third Ring, with vast wheat fields surrounding.

”Oh my, Doctor Jiang, you’re finally here; have you come up with a solution?” The coal mine boss’s last name was Zhou, called Zhou Tielong.

Initially, he was respectful towards Jiang Mingzhong, as he might be the one to heal his daughter, but seeing Jiang Mingzhong consulting others reduced his enthusiasm significantly.

He was considering, if this time Jiang Mingzhong still achieved nothing, he would have Jiang Mingzhong voluntarily give up the task, so he could post a new one, preventing any further delay in treatment.

Zhou Tielong assumed Beisitian was an apprentice, paying her little attention after a few glances due to her pretty face when entering.

The woman lying on the bed had her eyes tightly closed, her face an ashen gray, devoid of any color, lips pale and dry, and was running a high fever.

Beisitian took a drop of the woman’s blood and mixed it into a prepared bowl of talismanic water as Zhou Tielong watched with a frown, wondering what this was.

Once the blood merged with the talismanic water, it swiftly scattered like loose sand and then broke down into even smaller particles, gradually vanishing into the water, with the water’s color hardly changing.

Beisitian felt a jolt in her heart upon seeing this; the eerie change in the blood reminded her of something she had heard in a past life.

If it truly was that, then the matter wasn’t so simple.

”Where exactly has she been?” Beisitian turned and asked Zhou Tielong.
