I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 754: Chapter 753: Inquiries

”Get out.”

The coldness in the eyes of the tall and handsome man in front of her made Wang Xueqin’s heart tremble, her face turned pale, and she quickly bowed her head, turned around, and walked out.

”Wait a moment.”

Although the voice still lacked warmth, it brought a sliver of hope to Wang Xueqin’s heart, so she turned around to look at him.

”Take these away.” Luo Xudong glanced indifferently at the foot basin on the ground.

Wang Xueqin quickly turned back to pick up the basin, then walked out of the main house. As soon as she stepped out, she heard a click behind her; the door had been locked from the inside.

With that sound, it felt like something in Wang Xueqin’s heart also shattered. It was her first time being turned away from a door.

With no time or energy to clean up, Wang Xueqin went to bed feeling a bit down.

The next day, when Wang Xueqin got up, the man was already gone, surprisingly waking up earlier than them.

Sister-in-law Mo began working as soon as she got up, without much conversation with Wang Xueqin. Seeing this, Wang Xueqin also quietly went about her chores.

Cooking was handled by Gao Ma, washing the children’s clothes was Sister-in-law Mo’s job, and Wang Xueqin mostly did odd jobs like sweeping the yard and wiping the tables. Because she was responsible for two courtyards, there was actually quite a bit to do.

By the time they finished working, it was already past ten. The three maids took turns cooking for themselves, and today it was her turn.

When Wang Xueqin saw Sister-in-law Mo enter the kitchen, she smiled and said, ”Sister-in-law Mo, what would you like to eat today? I’ll cook in a bit.”

Sister-in-law Mo smiled, ”As long as we can fill our stomachs, it’s fine. The ingredients belong to the host family, we can’t be too picky.”

”You’re right, Sister-in-law Mo!” Wang Xueqin felt that Sister-in-law Mo was a bit unyielding, ”By the way, Sister-in-law Mo, do you know any specific habits of the host family? I want to learn more as I’m still an intern, so as not to make any mistakes. I really want to stay here; the host family is very nice and the treatment is good.”

Sister-in-law Mo glanced at her; her words were indeed true.

”Everything else is fine, just remember to stay away from the three children; the host family doesn’t like strangers getting too close. Also, if you see the two little girls together, try to separate them, there’s nothing else to worry about.”

Wang Xueqin was taken aback, ”Are you talking about the identical little girls? Why is that?”

”That’s the host family’s business, I don’t know. I just do as I’m told.” Sister-in-law Mo didn’t say any more.

Though curious, Wang Xueqin wasn’t too interested, so she changed the subject, ”Sister-in-law Mo, are there any taboos between the lady and her husband?”

Sister-in-law Mo placed the vegetables in a small basket and said, ”The lady is very kind and amiable, Mr. Luo appears a bit cold but never interferes with the maids’ matters, as long as you don’t provoke him, there won’t be any issues.”

Wang Xueqin nodded quickly, ”I haven’t had much interaction with the lady yet; she was out when I arrived. Does she go out often?”

”Sometimes, it’s hard to say.”

”Does Mr. Luo mind when the lady goes out so often?” Wang Xueqin asked as she picked vegetables.

Where they come from, a woman working outside was somewhat shameful, unless the household had no men, only then might a woman step out openly. However, younger girls didn’t mind this, as they all went to the city to work.

To her, with the lady gone for over half a month, could Mr. Luo not have an opinion on it?

”Just focus on doing your own work, don’t ask too much.” With those words, Sister-in-law Mo left.

Wang Xueqin glanced at Sister-in-law Mo’s back, her smile melting away as she lowered her head and silently began to pick and wash vegetables.

No one was left in this courtyard, so under Gao Ma’s arrangement, Wang Xueqin helped in Mrs. Qin’s courtyard.

Wang Xueqin was fairly pretty, mainly because her skin was fair and her face not too rough. Her hair was neatly done, making her look different from the average village woman. She also paid a lot of attention to her appearance, considering that even though she was divorced, she would remarry eventually.

But before that, she needed to save some money for her son.

After finishing cooking, Wang Xueqin ate together with Gao Ma and Sister-in-law Mo. They had a half-hour lunch break at noon.

If there wasn’t much work, the rest time could be extended, depending on Gao Ma’s arrangements.

Wang Xueqin lit incense in the east room, hearing it was supposed to aid sleep, usually lit twenty minutes before sleeping and then extinguished after a short while.

Mrs. Qin had some neurological issues before, wasn’t sleeping well, so Beisitian began using this incense for her, gradually improving her condition.

”Aunt, would you like some water?” Wang Xueqin asked promptly when she saw Mrs. Qin cough twice.

”Please, get me some.” Mrs. Qin replied.

In the living room, there was cool boiled water prepared beforehand. Wang Xueqin mixed a bit of hot water for her, so it was just right to drink.

After Mrs. Qin finished drinking, Wang Xueqin took the cup out, then returned to cover Mrs. Qin with a blanket.

”You don’t have to be so meticulous, I can do it myself.” Mrs. Qin said with a smile.

Wang Xueqin nodded obediently, ”Since this is my first time working, I’m not familiar with things. Aunt, if I ever do anything wrong, please feel free to correct me, I will definitely change!”

Mrs. Qin nodded with a smile, ”Alright.”

After expressing her intentions, Wang Xueqin looked at Mrs. Qin. Seeing that she was really sleepy, she then quietly left.

She always had an unsettling feeling in her heart, trying to do everything well, yet it seemed like the people here maintained a certain cautious distance from her, like something stood in the way, making her feel she couldn’t integrate into this environment.

Perhaps she was overthinking it, but with only a week left of her internship, no promises from the host families in either courtyard had been given, which made her feel somewhat depressed.

Wasn’t she doing well enough?

Although she felt some discontent, she could only continue working hard and quietly, hoping to stay.

That morning, she saw that tall and graceful man again, holding a little one in his arms, followed by Beisitian and two children.

Wang Xueqin glanced at Beisitian, surprisingly beautiful beyond her expectations. Generally, women who’ve given birth, especially so many children, would have spots or not be in great shape, but she looked as if she hadn’t had any children at all.

Gao Ma came out to greet them, with Sister-in-law Mo and Wang Xueqin watching the family of five return from the corridor.

Mrs. Qin’s face lit up with a smile as she picked up a child, ”Missed grandma so much.”

Hearing such words, Beisitian couldn’t help but chuckle, then felt a gaze upon her, turned to see Wang Xueqin smiling at her.

”The lady is back.” Wang Xueqin said quickly with a smile when Beisitian looked over.

Beisitian nodded, then went inside with her husband and children.

After they went inside, Sister-in-law Mo began busying herself with her tasks again, and after standing in the corridor for a moment, Wang Xueqin also went to work.
