Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 65: Chapter 60 Conclusion

Pan Yan’s matter being resolved in such a way was unexpected for Luo Ye. Initially, she thought that a martial fight was inevitable to settle their scores. Now that it could be resolved this way was more than she could ask for, as truly going hand to hand and taking on seven was quite the challenge.

The Pan family ancestors were butchers, said to trace back to the Qing Dynasty. After economic reforms, the Pan family returned to their old business. Butchering pigs also requires skill, and a pig butchered by the Pan family would taste three times more delicious, making their business thrive. They opened one chain store after another and became among the first batch of people to become wealthy.

Perhaps due to their family’s profession, the men of the Pan family were often hot-tempered, especially the seven boys in Pan Yan’s generation. Whenever there was any trouble among the siblings, with one call, they’d all be there, fighting recklessly without regard for their lives, which would later lead to them eating government-provided meals behind bars.

Luo Ye did not want to become too entangled with the Pan family. With her status, winning or losing would not be honorable. As for Pan Yan, she wasn’t planning on giving her a hand nor pushing her over.

To ensure fairness and, more importantly, to make Pan Yan and Mrs. Pan both feel it was fair, Luo Ye generously allowed Pan Yan to narrate their grudge, occasionally adding in a sentence or two.

”You little wretch! How did I raise you? You’ve lost all your father’s face!” As soon as Pan Yan finished speaking, Mrs. Pan’s fist came raining down on her, with a resounding ”bang bang” on her back.

”Auntie, please, calm down, it’s just the kids messing around!” Luo Ye tried to mediate symbolically—after all, it wasn’t her place to intervene.

”Messing around? How many times has her father said that being the daughter of the school principal, she must set a good example. Could never have imagined this is how she does it. If her dad finds out, wouldn’t it kill him?”

Pan Jie looked on with a disappointed face: ”Your pager, canceled!”

”Sis!”

Luo Ye gave Luo Feng a knowing look and stood up to leave: ”Auntie, Brother Song, sister-in-law, we must be going, it’s getting late!” There should be a limit to everything, and she trusted Mrs. Pan knew what to do next.

...

”Ye’er, I was wrong yesterday, can you forgive me?” Luo Feng apologized to his sister with guilt as they left the hospital.

”Only now you realize? Too late!” Remembering the ”bang bang” sound of Mrs. Pan’s fists on Pan Yan’s back, Luo Ye’s lips curved into a smirk: ”Big brother, don’t you now realize how gentle our mom is?”

”Of course, I’ve always known mom is the gentlest, but as for Pan Yan, she deserved a beating, she’s pretty bad, and this is letting her off easy!”

Luo Ye cheerfully linked her arm with her brother’s: ”In the future, she will pay for her own temperament. I don’t want to dwell on these matters. After all, saving her sister was a favor done. If we were to keep holding onto this, that favor would turn into a grudge, no need for that!”

”Luo Ye, wait up!”

”What does she want now?” Hearing Pan Yan’s shout, Luo Feng frowned.

Luo Ye playfully squinted her eyes: ”Don’t worry, she doesn’t dare to do much. Haven’t you noticed she’s very afraid of her mother?”

”Don’t talk, I’ll handle her!” Luo Feng stepped in front of his sister, with Luo Ye’s lips curling into a smile. Being protected like this by her brother felt really good!

”My sister didn’t blame you, and she didn’t exaggerate anything. It was all your own words. What more do you want?” Luo Feng was stern for once.

”Can’t you act like a man as a big guy? I’m looking for Luo Ye, not you!” Pan Yan gave Luo Feng a sideways glance: ”Even though you look slightly better than Zhu Jiangyu, I don’t fancy you!”

”I didn’t ask you to!” Luo Feng eyed her up and down: ”You’re not even 1/10th as good as my little sister, and you’re still so entitled?”

Luo Ye almost wanted to clap her hands and cheer for her big bro—V5. Unbeknownst to her, her brother’s character had really toughened up compared to before. In the past, even with a gun to his head, he would have been too shy to speak that way about someone else.

”You!” Pan Yan stamped her foot: ”Do you think I wanted to come after you? It’s my mom, she took a liking to you and told me to interact with you, hmph!”

”Pff!”

Luo Ye finally found the person who was the most V5 in the world.

Pan Yan looked at Luo Ye annoyed: ”Don’t think just because you saved my sister, I should be grateful to you. I am me, my sister is my sister; the person who owes you is her, not me. I can stop antagonizing you, but definitely won’t like you, and even less so your brother. Zhu Jiangyu will be mine sooner or later, don’t set your sights on him!”

”Uh-huh!”

Luo Ye’s brief reply left Pan Yan utterly speechless. After all she said, she was dismissed with a single word. Couldn’t Luo Ye give her a little argument or something?
