Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 130: Strategies 92-93 / Losing Face_4

Mou Ye wobbled a bit and her petite figure quickly vanished outside the door. Ye Xuan chuckled and shook his head, wondering why he enjoyed teasing the young girl so much; no wonder Jiang Zheng always laughed at him.

”Mom, why are you here?” As soon as Luo Ye entered the room, she found Wen Xin sitting at the edge of her bed, lost in thought.

Wen Xin smiled, pointing to the space next to her: ”Ye’er, did you go to see Ye Xuan?”

”Yeah, I was planning to return the ring to him, but he said if word gets out, what would I do when others ask about the ring? It made sense, so I took it back.” Luo Ye hugged Wen Xin: ”I’ve finally resolved one thing on my mind.”

”Yes, Ye’er, being pretty is also a burden for girls. But then again, who doesn’t want to be pretty, right?” Wen Xin embraced her daughter: ”I’ve been thinking all day about who would be worthy of marrying my daughter. But rest assured, Ye’er, your dad and I will never let you become a victim of a political marriage.”

”Thanks, Mom.” Luo Ye observed Wen Xin’s expression: ”Why aren’t you happy?”

”Ye’er, Mom...” Wen Xin hesitated: ”Just remember you mustn’t develop feelings for that Ye Xuan. The Ye Family is much stronger than the Wen Family. Yang Songping only pretended to be unaware today. To the Ye Family, the Yang Family is nothing. If Ye’er marries into that kind of family, it would be too exhausting.”

Luo Ye looked speechless: ”Mom, what are you talking about? Today was just for show. Ye Xuan is 6 years older than me and so handsome—I don’t expect a man like that to wait for me for five or six years. You’re just worrying about nothing.”

”It’s good that Ye’er understands. The Ye Family...” Wen Xin paused: ”Never mind, I feel relieved as long as you understand.”

Luo Ye studied her mother, who seemed to be somewhat distracted: ”Mom, you didn’t run away from marrying into the Ye Family, did you?”

”No, don’t be silly. I’m just worried about my daughter. Go back to your room and rest. You should sleep early too.” Wen Xin fled out as if escaping, and Luo Ye stuck out her tongue: ”The pot calling the kettle black, I’ll definitely dig out the gossip sometime.” Mou Ye suddenly hugged Little Songqiu excitedly and fell onto the bed: ”Oh my God, if Mom had married into the Ye Family back then, wouldn’t I also have those dark purple eyes? What a pity, such a pity.”

”What’s a pity?” Luo Feng’s voice suddenly sounded.

”Big bro, why didn’t you knock?” Mou Ye grumbled discontentedly with her head buried in Little Songqiu’s belly.

”Your door was wide open, why knock?”

Luo Ye sat up and glanced around: ”Oh, right. Did you need something, bro?”

”Ye’er, I just wanted to remind you about something... that Ye Xuan is too handsome and too old for you, Ye’er...” Luo Feng hesitantly expressed his worry.

Luo Ye rolled her eyes: ”Brother and Mom are indeed on the same side. I wonder if Grandpa and Dad will come talk to me too?” Saying that, she stretched her neck and called out, ”Grandpa, Dad, are you there?”

Luo Feng quickly covered Luo Ye’s mouth: ”I’m just worried about you, aren’t I? Don’t shout anymore, Dad and Uncle Jiang are in the study, and Grandpa has already gone to his room to sleep.”

After Luo Feng let go of her, Mou Ye’s eyes darted around: ”Bro, let me tell you, I really do like Ye Xuan, I really really like him. I’m trying to figure out how to keep this ring on my finger forever and become Ye Xuan’s wife. That’s my goal, bro. You think... I’m done for!”

”I’m done for?” Luo Feng looked puzzled at his sister who had been fine a moment ago but now suddenly flopped facedown onto the bed, her head buried on Little Songqiu’s belly, motionless. He gently patted her: ”Ye’er, why ’done for’? Do you like Ye Xuan that much? If it’s really too much, brother will go and speak for you, alright?”

”Get out, get out, all of you get out, this is so embarrassing, hey whoever you are, don’t take it seriously, I was just playing with my brother, I promise I’ll give you back the ring...”

Luo Feng looked confusedly towards the door and patted his sister again: ”What’s going on, who are you talking about? There’s no one there?”

”Ugh... I screwed up!” Ye’er, annoyed, sat up. She was certain she wasn’t hallucinating; someone had suddenly appeared at her door. Miao miao, what’s with the random prancing around?

...

During breakfast time, Luo Ye gave Mr. Ye several looks, noticing that his expression was as usual, not showing any signs of peculiarity. Could it be that yesterday was just her illusion, and he actually never appeared at her bedroom door?

Luo Ye’s subtle actions did not escape Ye Xuan’s notice. Understanding the little girl’s anxious feelings, he almost burst into laughter. How come he found that when this little girl was nervous, her expressions resembled that of the little Pekingese she was raising?

All he wanted to do yesterday was to tell her that her phone wouldn’t arrive until a week later, and that he would send someone to deliver it at that time. Who knew he would stumble upon such a hilarious scene?

”Grandpa, Dad, Mom, Uncle Jiang, I’ve finished eating, I need to rush to school now.” Luo Ye really couldn’t stand the unsettled feelings of anxiety, ate a few bites, and swiftly made her escape.

”You girl, you must eat breakfast properly.” Wen Xin chased after her with two eggs: ”Put them in your bag and eat them when you’re hungry.”

”Thanks, Mom.” Ye’er quickly made her getaway, grumbling in her heart: ”So what if you have good-looking eyes, do you have to keep showing off by staring at me? Closing eyes would be... oh, indeed can’t close the eyes.”

...

Now Luo Ye was utterly frustrated. After putting so much effort into distancing herself from that trash, how come she ended up being desk-mates again? Miao miao, is this going to be her unlucky year?

Yet, Yang Xing appeared entirely thrilled, stretching out his hand to Luo Ye with a smile: ”Luo Ye, please take good care of me in the future.”

Luo Ye stared at Yang Xing, lowering her voice: ”Take care of what? Tell me, why are you coincidentally my desk-mate? Did you play some trick?”

”Come on, Luo Ye, this seating arrangement is based on academic performance, how can you wrongly accuse me like that?” Yang Xing wore a face of innocence: ”Do I really have such a bad image in your heart?”

Luo Ye curled her lip: ”Performance? When did you take the test?”

”I used my scores from my previous school, and after transferring here, they deduct a certain percentage, as per the school’s policy. You should be aware of that, right?”

That’s right, she was aware of it. Hmph, after class, she’ll just go to the class teacher, right? It’s totally okay for her to voluntarily sit in the unpopular corner at the back, right?

Nu’an re-uploaded the edited document, it’s been too sweet recently, always attracting bugs.
