Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 113: Chapters 86-87: Commotion/Visitors_3

”I’m so embarrassed, so embarrassed, this is mortifying!” Ying Nuo grabbed Song Qiu and covered her face with it, her nose twitching, ”It actually smells good, what did you use for your bath?”

Luo Ye: ”...”

”Luoluo, let’s go help Auntie cook?” Ying Nuo covered her flushed cheeks, ”But no more jokes, okay?”

”Sure, I’ve never tried Nuonuo’s cooking before. Show us your skills today.” Luo Ye smiled as he handed Ying Nuo her slippers, ”If it’s just boiled eggs in water, then you don’t need to show off.”

”You underestimate me. I make stir-fried tomatoes with eggs, eggs fried with tomatoes, chives fried with eggs...”

Luo Ye interrupted Ying Nuo: ”Got it. You and eggs are inseparable. You won’t cook without eggs.”

Ying Nuo: ”...”

...

”Auntie, could you... maybe go rest in the living room for a bit?”

At Ying Nuo’s adamant request, Wen Xin agreed to let her cook a dish of stir-fried tomatoes with eggs. The girl strongly demanded a clear kitchen.

Wen Xin was worried: ”Nuonuo, maybe... Auntie should do it. It’s hot in the summer, if you get burnt, scars won’t look nice when you wear clothes.”

”It’s fine, Auntie, I’m not that clumsy. I cook frequently at home, and honestly, if you watch me, I’ll get nervous.” After their recent interaction, Ying Nuo was much more casual in her conversation with Wen Xin.

Luoluo pushed Wen Xin, who still wanted to persuade them otherwise, out of the kitchen, ”Mom, I’ll be watching, it’s okay.”

”Hehe...”

”Nuonuo, don’t laugh like that, you scare me.” Ying Nuo’s smile left Luo Ye with serious doubts about her claim of frequently cooking at home.

”I’m about to start.” Ying Nuo pushed Luo Ye to the kitchen door, ”Stand back, don’t get oil on you.”

”That... Nuonuo, if it doesn’t work out... just let it be, I’ll cook it, and later we can say you did it, okay?” Luo Ye was very skeptical that the dish Ying Nuo was about to cook would be edible.

Ying Nuo rolled her eyes in annoyance, ”You underestimate me. My dad always says the tomato and egg dish I make is the tastiest. Just stand there and don’t move!”

”Sizzle!...” As she threw the green onions into the pan, Ying Nuo quickly sidestepped next to Luo Ye. As he looked on in surprise, she zipped back to the pan, poured the eggs in, then darted back again, moving two steps forward and reaching an arm’s length away to stir-fry the eggs.

”Nuonuo, quite agile!” Luo Ye leaned against the door, unable to stop laughing. It was a real eye-opener! With that technique, she actually managed to make the stir-fried tomato and egg look beautifully red, white, and green. Regardless of the taste, the appearance was unexpectedly impressive.

Ying Nuo proudly tilted her head back, ”That’s right, I’ve been burned once before, so I’m a bit fearful when adding food to the pan. But that doesn’t mean my cooking isn’t tasty.”

”Nuonuo, not bad at all, your cooking skills are pretty good.” The dish was brought out and received unanimous praise from Wenxin Luo, Grandpa Luo, and Luo Feng.

”Yeah, it tastes good, too.” Luo Ye couldn’t help but take a bite, and to his surprise, the heat and seasoning were just right.

A very pleased Mou Nuo blushed slightly with excitement after receiving the compliments.

After everyone sat down for the meal, Luo Zhenggang still hadn’t returned, and Wen Xin looked worried, ”It’s strange, I called his office and they said he had left, his phone is off too, could something have happened?”

”Mom, it’s fine. Driver Wang is with dad. They’ll be alright. Maybe he got held up somewhere. Let’s wait a little bit longer... Oh, he’s back.” Hearing the faint sound of a key turning in the door, Luo Ye quickly ran to the entrance followed by an anxious Wen Xin.

The moment the door opened, Luo Ye froze. Behind Luo Zhenggang was the person he was most grateful for—Jiang Zheng.

Jiang Zheng smiled, patting Luo Ye’s head, ”Ye’er, not bad, you’ve changed quite a bit. What, don’t recognize Uncle Jiang anymore? Why the surprised look?”

”Uncle Jiang...” Luo Ye’s throat choked up, and he hugged Jiang Zheng, tears smearing on his clothes, ”Uncle hasn’t visited for so long, Ye’er is so excited to see you.”

Jiang Zheng was taken aback for a moment, gently patting Luo Ye’s back, ”Uncle has been busy, but I’ll make sure to visit Ye’er whenever I have time.” But he was very surprised inside; he’d never seen the girl care so much about him before.

”Ye’er, let go of Uncle Jiang, you child!” Wen Xin said with a laugh, pulling Luo Ye away, ”Jiang Zheng, the girl missed you, that’s why she’s like this. Uh..., who’s this?”

Wen Xin’s question made Luo Ye turn his head quickly. Indeed, behind Jiang Zheng stood a tall and handsome man, around 22 or 23 years old, with a height somewhere between 189-190 cm, muscular and upright, with short cropped hair, jet-black sword eyebrows, a prominent nose, wheat-colored skin, sharply contoured lips, and what was most striking, those deep-set starry eyes, which were an ink-purple color.
