Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 106: Chapter 82-83 The Truth Behind Falling Out with Grandpa / Checking the Rankings_4

Just like that, a month before the wedding, my sister and I were nearly the same weight. However, that night she spent a long time vomiting in the bathroom and didn’t come out.

I felt something was wrong, so I went to check, and found her lying on the bathroom floor bleeding profusely. I was so frightened that I collapsed on the floor, and it took me a great effort to crawl out. I wanted to scream but no sound came out. A servant noticed something was wrong with me, ran over and asked what happened, but I couldn’t utter a word as I pointed toward the bathroom.

The servant took one look inside and ran out screaming. Not long after, your grandparents arrived, and so did the ambulance. However, Wen Rou was already gone.

The cause of death was acute cerebral hemorrhage. The doctor explained that Wen Rou had inherently thin and fragile blood vessel walls and chronic intracranial hypertension as the main inducer.

Your grandparents took a huge blow. They always favored your sister over me. She was more vivacious, more assertive, and smarter than I was.

When the groom’s family learned of the tragedy, they discussed with your grandpa and decided to postpone the wedding for half a year. I bear a huge responsibility for my sister’s death, and I could not in good conscience marry that boy. As the wedding drew near, I sneakily ran away from home while no one was paying attention.

Fearing my family would find me, I dared not seek help from acquaintances, wandering the streets lost and desolate, even considering leaving this world to join my sister.

I had been in love with your dad long before that, and I knew my family would never allow me to be with him. When I had no other options, the person I ultimately turned to was naturally your dad.

After a long period of time, your dad and I finally got together. Before the wedding, heeding Grandpa Luo’s advice, we bravely returned to the Wen Family, nearly two years after Wen Rou’s death.

With the loss of their oldest daughter and having fallen out of face with old friends, they also found Wen Rou’s diary and learned about the agreement between her and me. You can imagine how furious your grandpa was. Seeing me and your dad, he immediately ordered the guards to expel us, declaring the Wen Family had no daughter like me and forbidding me from ever setting foot in that house again.” Wen Xin said, crying uncontrollably.

Luo Ye didn’t know what to say. The story her mother told was simplified, surely filled with many unspeakable intricacies. In an ordinary family, such a tragedy would have resulted in the loss of a person and a marriage. But in a high-status family like her grandpa’s, it also meant the loss of connections and dignity, which must have fueled her grandpa’s extreme anger, right?

I had always thought that my mother fell out with grandpa because she was with dad, but I never realized it involved a living life, the most cherished person to her. No wonder she’s been afraid to touch that wound for so many years.

And it’s no wonder when she’s alone, a tinge of sadness often flickers in her eyes. If she spoke of it, it would touch the wound; if not, it would fester in her heart for a lifetime.

Luo Zhenggang gently patted Wen Xin and explained to his children: ”Your grandpa’s family is one of the six famous hidden families in the country. Ye’er and Feng’er might not be fully aware of the situation about hidden families. They mostly have achievements in business and politics but are not ostentatious. In special times, they won’t be greatly affected. At first glance, you wouldn’t think they are outstanding, but only those who understand can clearly see how powerful they truly are.”

”Since you’ve spoken about it today, Wen Xin, let me say something.” Grandpa Luo appeared at some point, sighing softly as he sat beside Luo Ye and Luo Feng. ”Your father might have forgiven you already. The fact that he hasn’t withdrawn his investment in Luo Tong is a clear indication. Transferring Luo Tong away was simply because he couldn’t get over it emotionally. Since the fault lies with you, naturally, you should be the one to apologize.”

Wen Xin looked at Grandpa Luo desolately: ”Dad, will my dad forgive me? My ignorance caused my sister’s death and cost the Wen Family their alliance. Can I be forgiven?”

”You are his flesh and blood.”

”I need to think it over properly. I don’t know what to do next...” Wen Xin suddenly looked at Luo Ye and Luo Feng with worry: ”Ye’er, Feng’er, you won’t look down on mom, dislike her, will you? Would you?”

”Of course not!” The siblings answered in unison, Luo Feng’s face turned very serious at this moment, reflecting deeply over aspects of him that were similar to his mother.

Luo Ye moved beside Wen Xin and embraced her: ”Mom, don’t be too hard on yourself. So many years have passed, a day or two won’t make a difference. Whenever you’re ready, we’ll go with you to apologize, alright?”

”Ye’er...” Wen Xin hugged her daughter and cried out loud, the years of repressed pain overwhelming her.

...

”Naughty Luoluo, you didn’t even call me once during the entire holiday, didn’t think of me at all.” Luo Ye was immediately slapped on the arm by Ying Nuo as soon as she got out of the car.

”Nuonuo, how long have you been waiting here?” Luo Ye quickly pulled out soft and sweet dried sweet potato strips from her bag and stuffed a piece into Ying Nuo’s mouth: ”This is to apologize and to shush you.”

”Stop it!” Ying Nuo sputtered unintelligibly, ”I’ve been waiting here for half an hour, I missed you so much during the holiday, and it seems you didn’t miss me at all, huh!”

”I’m sorry, I’m sorry, there were a lot of things going on at home, and I neglected, Nuonuo, don’t be angry.” Luo Ye apologized repeatedly, she had indeed meant to call Ying Nuo yesterday but forgot amidst the chaos.

Ying Nuo rolled her eyes: ”Tell me, did you call Tang Luo?”

Luo Ye teased Ying Nuo by tickling her: ”Jealous, Little Vinegar Lady, of course I didn’t call her either.”

Ying Nuo laughed and pushed Luo Ye’s hand away: ”That’s more like it. I was just worried you might replace me, shouldn’t there be equal treatment?”

When the two reached the school gate, they happened to bump into Tang Luo. The three of them joked and laughed on the way to check the class assignment notice board, ”Luoluo, I am in the same class as you!” Tang Luo suddenly exclaimed excitedly.

According to the S balanced class allocation method, if the two ended up in the same class, it would be extremely lucky. Luo Ye looked at the notice, and sure enough, both of their names were on the same list.

However, she was more than a dozen places apart from Tang Luo, which meant she was ranked among the top in the new class again. Customarily, she scanned further down the list, her expression suddenly turning grim.
