Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 138: Chapter 96-97 Suspicion/Master is from the Ye Family_4

Luo Ye was in the middle of recovering, lazing about and keeping quiet. She had done all she could. Today’s punishment from her master wasn’t something she accepted, but arguing with a dog was pointless, and she wasn’t in a position to argue with her master anyway. If someone was willing to seek justice for her, she was more than happy to enjoy the downtime.

Mr. Yu glared at Ye Xuan: ”Do you think I’m that heartless? Ye’er has been unable to break through the second layer of Ye Family’s thirty-six forms. Today, as soon as I arrived, I spotted signs of her breakthrough, and that’s why I took those actions. The reason I dragged you to the basement was to prevent you from messing up my plans.”

”Master...” Luo Ye looked at her master with guilt, regretting having thought so poorly of him just now.

”Alright, let Ye Xuan carry you back. You’ll recover once you get home. Next week, I’ll be taking a long trip, so you and Luo Feng practice well. When I come back and if I see no progress, you’ll just spend your days playing with Big Yellow and Big White.” With that said, he didn’t wait for Luo Ye’s response and walked back to his room with hands clasped behind his back.

”Brother Ye, put me down, I need to apologize to master.” Luo Ye struggled, trying to get off his back.

”Ye’er, let’s give Seventh Uncle some peace. He’s already agreed to return to the Ye Family. I wronged him earlier and feel guilty, but he won’t mind. Let’s not disturb him now; he hasn’t been back for so many years, it must be hard on him. Let’s visit him tomorrow.”

Luo Ye, droopy, complied: ”Okay, I’ll listen to Brother Ye. By the way, did master change his surname to Yu because it sounds similar to Ye?”

”No, my granny’s surname is Yu. Seventh Uncle took her surname.”

Luo Ye asked in confusion: ”Isn’t your granny French? How could she have the surname Yu?”

”That’s my Grandma.”

”Uh... I’m sorry.” Mou Ye was conflicted; when had her memory gotten so bad? Just the other day, she was fantasizing about her mom marrying into the Ye Family so she could have amethyst-colored eyes too. Sigh, luckily nobody knows her thoughts, otherwise, she’d embarrass herself all the way to Grandma’s house.

The two chattered all the way home, and Luo Ye poked Ye Xuan: ”Brother Ye, put me down, this is rather embarrassing.”

”You’ve been carried for so long, your legs must be numb. It’ll take a long time to recover after putting you down. I’m your Brother Ye, what’s there to be embarrassed about?” Ye Xuan refused to let go. Mou Ye struggled but soon realized—indeed, her legs were numb.

Should she rest here before going back, or just go back like this? While someone was still wrestling with the dilemma, the other had already rung the doorbell. Embarrassing!

Wen Xin looked at Luo Ye, her clothes and hair drenched, and exclaimed with her mouth wide open: ”What... what happened?”

”Ye Xuan, didn’t my sister go with you to solve the problem? How did she end up like this? Did the Yang Family douse her with water?” Luo Feng was furious: ”I’m going to settle scores with them!”

Luo Zhenggang hurriedly stopped Luo Feng: ”Since when have you become so reckless? One look at Ye’er and it’s clear she wasn’t splashed with water; she’s obviously exhausted. Little Ye, what exactly happened?”

”Uncle, Auntie, I’m sorry, it’s all my fault.” Ye Xuan carefully placed Luo Ye on the couch, warning everyone: ”Don’t move her, her legs are numb. Let Ye’er recover slowly by herself.”

Jiang Zheng approached Luo Ye, assessed her weakened state, and joked with a smile: ”Little Ye, I’m saying, you weren’t chasing Ye’er like chasing a rabbit for fun, were you?”

”Uncle Jiang, when someone is in this state, you still make such jokes?” Luo Ye gently rubbed her thighs and rolled her eyes at Jiang Zheng, finding him utterly lacking in sympathy.

”So, here’s what happened...” Ye Xuan had no intention to hide anything about Mr. Yu, so he recounted the evening’s events to everyone.

”Ye, you owe Ye’er a huge favor now. From now on, you must treat Ye’er’s matters as your own, got it?” Jiang Zheng, who was already aware of the situation concerning the Ye Family, teased Ye Xuan as soon as he finished telling the story.

Luo Zhenggang laughed and waved his hands dismissively: ”You can’t say it like that. Ye helped our family out big time this time, so consider it Ye’er repaying the favor.”

Ye Xuan quickly made a statement: ”If you uncles and aunties need any help in the future, just let me know. Anything within my power, I will definitely take care of; if not, I’ll figure out a way to do it anyway.”

He was truly grateful for Luo Ye’s help this time. Grandpa and Granny were missing Seventh Uncle more and more and their health was deteriorating. He believed that seeing Seventh Uncle again would lift their spirits and improve their health. After all, the two elders were precious to the Ye Family; this was no small favor.

”Ye’er, are you feeling very bad?” Luo Feng sat next to his sister, his face full of concern, and shot a discontented glance at Ye Xuan: ”You can’t just let my sister be chased by dogs like that just for your family’s issues, can you?”

Seeing everyone looking at Ye Xuan with a somewhat accusing gaze, Luo Ye quickly explained: ”Brother Ye forgot to mention a detail. My master only let Big Yellow and Big White chase me because he saw that I was about to break through, and he then took him to the basement. So he didn’t know about it at all.”

”Still, that was his fault.” Luo Feng, for some reason, just couldn’t stand the sight of Ye Xuan, feeling the same dislike as Yang Xing.

Luo Ye rubbed her legs and looked at Ye Xuan: ”Brother Ye, don’t be mad, but I have a question to ask.”

”Go ahead, I won’t be mad.”

”Did your granny give birth to eleven sons?”

As soon as Luo Ye asked, everyone’s faces twitched in amusement. Only this girl could ask such a question. Admittedly, they were quite curious themselves.

Ye Xuan shook his head: ”No, my granny gave birth to my Second Uncle, my dad, Uncle Five, Seventh Uncle, and Ninth Uncle, as well as two aunts.”

”Still pretty fertile,” mumbled Mou Ye in a low voice, then realizing he had misspoken, he chuckled sheepishly: ”Just kidding, don’t be mad.”

Ye Xuan laughed: ”Not mad at all. My granny has always been proud of having so many children.”

Jiang Zheng’s eyes nearly popped out. Was this really just because he was grateful for the little girl’s help that he changed his attitude? As far as Jiang Zheng knew, anyone who dared to say Granny Ye was fertile would get a beating from Ye Xuan. So why now was it a point of pride for his granny?

...

At two in the morning, Luo Ye opened her eyes, stretched her arms and legs, and her eyes narrowed into crescents—her master didn’t deceive her after all. After resting up, she could clearly feel she was lighter and more nimble. So tonight, she could proceed with the original plan! Oh yeah!
