Why Would an Aircraft Carrier Be Dispatched to Escort His Fishing Boat?

40: Chapter 40 Carbon-8, the Ceiling of Materials?With just a single glance,

Academician Wang Jiamin immediately wiped the smile off his face.

One minute later.

His expression turned solemn.

Five minutes later.

A brilliant light radiated from his eyes!

After reading the entire thing,

He suddenly stood up and slammed his hand on the table: ”Genius! Genius! Simply a genius!”

He hurriedly checked the sender of the email, only to find that the contributor had left no name.

”Anonymous?!”

Academician Wang Jiamin was dumbfounded.

For such a heavyweight achievement, one that could leave a mark in history, the email sender had actually chosen to remain anonymous!

With a face full of disbelief, he went to Dean Xia’s office to explain the situation.

Although Xia Zhongxun was primarily in charge of physics, he was, after all, the head of the academy!

”What? Anonymous again?”

Xia Zhongxun was bewildered once more.

”What do you mean ’again’?”

Academician Wang Jiamin was confused.

”Don’t worry yet, I’ll have the Information Department look into it.”

Xia Zhongxun quickly sought out Minister Wang Feng. However, this time, Minister Wang Feng could no longer trace it. He replied to Xia Zhongxun that the source of the email was not domestic but from abroad, so the sender could not be identified!

”Is it trendy for people to send emails anonymously nowadays?”

In his astonishment, Xia Zhongxun thought of Jiang Chen from last time. However, Jiang Chen’s talent was mainly in Brain-like Chips and intelligent mecha.

But this Carbon-9 molecular material was primarily in the field of chemical materials!

Beside him, Academician Wang Jiamin asked anxiously, ”Well, Dean Xia, did you find anything?”

”It’s from abroad; nothing has been found yet.” Xia Zhongxun shook his head.

”What a pity!”

After a brief moment of regret, Academician Wang Jiamin became excited again. ”Dean Xia, I’m going to tell the lab staff about this!”

He left in a hurry.

Inside the laboratory!

When Academician Wang Jiamin gathered some of the top experts and announced the news, everyone was stunned.

”Academician Wang, you’re not joking, are you?”

”Yeah! We’re still experimenting with Carbon-7, and Carbon-8 is still in the theoretical stage. Does Carbon-9... really exist?”

No one could believe it.

It wasn’t until Academician Wang Jiamin had everyone sign a non-disclosure agreement and displayed the academic paper page by page on the projector.

The group was shocked once again!

”My goodness! Is there such a transcendent genius in the field of chemical materials!”

Looking at this ten-thousand-word paper, written with rigorous prose yet containing wildly imaginative ideas, everyone let out a heartfelt exclamation of wonder.

”The sender of the paper will not be disclosed for now. I hope everyone abides by the non-disclosure agreement!”

”Carbon-9 molecular material is likely one of the highest-level secrets in our country right now. I hope everyone is cautious!”

Academician Wang Jiamin’s expression became slightly serious.

”Yes!”

The crowd nodded in unison.

The top-tier material currently being researched in United States laboratories was only Carbon-8.

Yet, China had already begun researching Carbon-9.

This was definitely something to be excited about and look forward to.

It must be kept strictly confidential!

And,

They had to strive to synthesize the Carbon-9 molecular material as soon as possible!

Just as everyone was discussing with adrenaline-fueled excitement, Shu Yin, whose head was still buzzing, had just returned from the Descendant of the Dragon testing grounds.

When she saw that young man on the testing grounds, only twenty-four years old, calmly directing everyone in experiments related to intelligent mecha, she was completely stunned.

He was actually the person in charge of the Descendant of the Dragon project!

She had seen the news about the Descendant of the Dragon crushing the Soul of God.

At the time, she thought the person responsible for developing this intelligent mecha must be a highly respected expert.

But she never imagined that he would be someone even younger than herself!

”Descendant of the Dragon is my main focus, but I know a little bit about chemical materials as well.”

In response to Shu Yin’s inquiry, Jiang Chen replied as such.

Looking at Jiang Chen’s nonchalant answer, Shu Yin’s head buzzed as if it had been struck by a hammer.

When she returned to the lab and saw how lively it was inside, she snapped out of it and asked in confusion, ”Academician Wang, what are you all...”

”Shu Yin, you’re here? Perfect. You should sign a non-disclosure agreement too, and then join us in the synthesis experiment for this Carbon-9 molecular material!”

Academician Wang Jiamin held out a non-disclosure agreement.

”What! Carbon-9 molecular material?”

Shu Yin’s brain

began to buzz once again.

”Yes, I plan to arrange for everyone to work in 24-hour shifts on this synthesis experiment. We’ll strive to get the first test batch out within a week!”

Academician Wang Jiamin ordered!

...

While the national-level chemical materials laboratory of the Longke Academy was preparing to work through the night on the Carbon-9 synthesis experiment,

A piece of heavyweight news from overseas was suddenly released on Facebook.

[Hope for Humanity! Top-tier Materials Science Experts from the United States Successfully Produce the First Batch of Carbon-8 molecular materials!]

[World Leading! From Carbon-7 molecular materials to Carbon-8 molecular materials!]

As soon as these two news stories broke,

The entire internet instantly boiled over.

[Holy crap! That’s incredible! It hasn’t been long since the last Carbon-7 molecular material, and there’s another breakthrough already?]

[As expected of the world’s number one superpower, their foundation is truly deep—breakthrough after breakthrough!]

[Haha, a certain country is going to cry. This Carbon-8 molecular material basically represents the ceiling of human achievement in chemical materials. If an intelligent mecha wants to have powerful combat capabilities, the first step is high-strength mecha materials; chips and systems are useless on their own! Yet, a certain country’s mecha materials are still stuck at Carbon-6—a full two generations behind...]

[Sure enough, when Musk’s request to cooperate with the Longke Academy was rejected last time, I said that Dragon Country would regret it sooner or later. A bunch of frogs in a well even called me an idiot! Now it’s proven who the real idiot is!]

[This is the mentality of a ’Celestial Empire.’ You achieve a tiny bit and think you’re invincible, not knowing that there’s always someone better. Just because you have some success in Brain-like Chips and intelligent mecha combat doesn’t mean you can maintain a lead in the field of chemical materials! People should learn to be humble.]

[Humble? Heh, if a certain country knew how to be humble, they wouldn’t be so far behind in chemical materials! How tragic. Your country needs to do some serious self-reflection.]

[Reflection is useless now. A two-generation gap will take at least ten years to close. Might as well rename the Descendant of the Dragon sooner; I think ’Descendant of the Insect’ sounds good! Hahaha.]

In the face of the heavyweight news from overseas, the internet was suddenly filled with praise for the United States.

Even!

Because the internet trolls had been extremely unhappy about the Descendant of the Dragon’s moment of glory last time, they seized this opportunity to unleash a wave of belittlement and sarcasm.
