Bear School Astartes

The Kirin’s lightning strike should have been enough to kill other creatures.

But the Gold Lion seems to possess a certain degree of resistance to electricity.

Though the pain inflicted was no less, and the wounds were dreadfully gruesome, it still remained as vigorous as ever, punching powerfully.

This is certainly partly due to the stimulation of its wound pain driving this ’battle frenzy’ insane, but its inherent physical capabilities cannot be ignored.

The lightning wound on its back, large as a basin and nearly revealing ribs from behind, not only didn’t cause the Gold Lion to sink into depression.

But made it even more frenzied!

”Awoo!”

Roaring madly, with undiminished speed and hesitance, the Gold Lion hadn’t even waited for the Kirin to pull itself out of the rock wall before its dark large hand pressed down on the Kirin’s neck and head.

Although the Gold Lion is among the smaller types of large monsters, its one hand is still larger than the Kirin’s head.

And at this moment, it also highlighted the experience difference of the battle-hardened Gold Lion and the inexperienced Kirin.

”The Gold Lion intentionally knocked the Kirin into the rock wall.”

Lann said in a low voice, surprised.

Beside him, the Grand Commander also grasped the Gold Lion’s intention, nodding in sudden realization with a bit of excitement.

The Kirin’s body is too hard; even an attack that can knock it away doesn’t inflict substantial damage.

Because ’being blown away’ itself is a way to dissipate force.

The Gold Lion realized this, and subsequently... it found a method for the Kirin to take all its punching power.

—Smash the Kirin against the wall!

The Kirin’s body structure resembles a horse; its movements are a bit like a widely distributed small animal in this world—the Elf Deer.

But this body structure is powerless against an enemy at its side when it can’t turn freely.

And now, the Gold Lion just happened to press the Kirin sideways onto the rock wall!

”Roar!”

The excited Gold Lion let out a monkey-like yell.

Yet the Kirin, who had always remained calm and noble, seemed to finally understand that the situation had spiraled out of control, starting to neigh like a warhorse and struggling desperately.

Muscles already positioned, the Gold Lion’s already swollen black muscles bulged even more terrifyingly!

The already large and robust arm expanded directly two circles more!

”Bang bang bang!”

The savage fist unrelentingly pounded the Kirin’s head!

The coral reefs accumulated over tens of thousands of years, already like a rocky wall of a mountain, trembled under the Gold Lion’s fists.

The shell fossils, coral fragments, and accumulated dust burst into the air as they were knocked from the rock wall.

And this was still just the secondary force transmitted to the mountain wall from the Gold Lion’s beating of the Kirin!

Originally, though the Kirin was smashed into the rock wall, it didn’t sink in too deeply.

But with the fierce pounding by the Gold Lion, the two seemed nearly to bore a cave into the cliff face!

And the Gold Lion’s fist no longer used disorderly attacks to disguise its true target.

Now all its fists hammered toward the azure horn on the Kirin’s head!

The crystalline-textured horn of the Kirin started out unscathed under the violent pounding.

But as the rain of great black fists fell, cracks began to appear at the root of the crystalline horn.

The Gold Lion’s raging fists were hardly precise or skillful, so many times, the fists aimed at the Kirin’s azure horn were deflected by the Kirin’s subtle head movement or the Gold Lion’s own errors.

And the fists meant for the side of the Kirin’s azure horn end up hitting the tip of the Kirin’s azure horn.

The razor-sharp azure horn easily pierced through the Gold Lion’s dark hide and muscle.

At such times, the Gold Lion’s fists would be forcibly ripped with a blood-spattering tear.

But that didn’t stop the frenzied beast from excitedly roaring, then throwing another punch!

”The legend... is it really true?!”

The Grand Commander murmured beside Lann, his voice charged with suppressed shock and excitement.

The battle before them between ancient dragon and non-ancient dragon had unexpectedly escalated in a flash.

The ancient dragons Lann previously encountered each possessed overwhelmingly powerful might; he’d never seen an ancient dragon suppressed before.

But it’s undeniable that the pure rage and destructive intent displayed by this creature named the [Gold Lion] had unconsciously elevated its threat level in Lann’s mind to that of an ancient dragon.

”What legend?”

Lann’s eyes remained fixed on the dark creature exhibiting unparalleled physical dominance and wildness, his mouth slightly shifting towards the Grand Commander to ask.

The seasoned Hunter, as if himself captivated and absorbed by the scene of the Gold Lion’s battle, replied.

”You previously asked me, ’Why is this guy called the [Gold Lion],’ right?”

The Grand Commander paused slightly, then spoke to Lann in a tone almost akin to reciting a legendary tale.

”That pitch-black frenzied beast surpasses human wisdom. Confronting it in person, its rage-filled, surging stance makes one think that the creature exists in a different physical space than us. The fierce, blinding light pushes people into the night’s dimness.”

”But that is when it hasn’t even unleashed its full strength!”

”The deeply buried power remains still and silent. When the dark form disappears, the full golden wings will appear, and the beast will transform into a lion!”

”This courage makes the previous frenzied beast pale in comparison, even making one grasp the insignificance of the black form. The golden lion, appearing to end the battle, evokes a third of an ancient dragon’s fear.”

From the Grand Commander’s tone, Lann could discern some anticipation... the kind of expectation that ’the legendary story will come alive before me, and I will witness it all.’

”This is a widely circulated piece of ancient documentation about the Gold Lion. Watch closely, Lann. What’s going to happen next will open your horizon!”

”Haha! I’m telling you; your luck is incredible, kid!”

This overflowing anticipation even made the Grand Commander burst out in laughter.

And in the distant tussle, the Gold Lion finally achieved its aim.

The azure horn snapped under its last punch!

”Crack” sound.

As if the power contained within the Kirin’s azure horn was unleashed due to the fracture.

The thunderclouds above bore down a bolt of lightning thicker than ever at the moment of breakage!

One couldn’t distinguish if it was the sound of the Kirin’s azure horn shattering or the sound of thunder descending.

Or perhaps there was never much difference between the Kirin’s azure horn and the lightning.
