Bear School Astartes

After the Barbaric Jaws Dragon was tranquilized, Lann no longer paid it any mind.

This area was already saturated with the intense pheromones unleashed by the hunters and the Barbaric Jaws Dragon during their battle.

So ordinary monsters wouldn’t dare to come near.

And those monsters whose ecological niche is above the Barbaric Jaws Dragon, unless encountered directly, are unlikely to come looking for trouble with the tranquilized dragon.

Later, all that is needed is to wait for the logistics team from the Xanthan base to transport the captured Barbaric Jaws Dragon back.

Now, Lann was heading towards the depths of the forest, to the spot where Little Jack was kicked away.

At the time, the commotion he made after being kicked was considerable.

Under the path marked by Mentos, Lann easily found his location.

But unexpectedly, he did not see the expected scene of Little Jack lying unconscious in a pool of blood under a tree root that had been struck.

Instead, three or four fluffy, adorable figures were working together to lift the unconscious Little Jack above their heads and place him on a cart.

And by the tree root, two sneaky feline figures were crawling out of a tree hole, wriggling their butts.

”I told you meow, after a hunter’s companion gets injured, they deliberately attract the monster’s attention to make our work easier meow! You two are too timid; how can you take on the duties of the transport team meow?”

An Elu cat with a leader-like demeanor was scolding the two timid Elu cats.

Those two Elu cats lowered their heads in embarrassment, and their triangular ears that usually stood upright on their heads drooped lifelessly.

However, the leading Elu cat didn’t severely chastise the two timid companions but turned to greet the approaching Lann.

”The roar from outside has disappeared. Mr. Hunter, have you managed to drive the monster away meow?”

Lann scratched his cheek: ”In a certain sense... you could say that.”

Except for the leading Elu cat speaking to Lann, the other Elu cats began to lift Little Jack onto the cart with many hands.

This cart looked very sturdy.

Monster ligaments, tough tendons, and solid wooden wheels... aside from lacking a suspension, making long journeys quite uncomfortable, it seemed almost flawless.

This is the [cat cart]; the Elu cats rely on their small size and nimble movements to escape from monsters more easily than hunters.

They used this trait to start a business.

As long as they transport injured hunters back to the camp, they are entitled to a third of the hunters’ task rewards.

At the Xanthan base, bold and adventure-loving hunter-sidekick cats were in the minority; most were diligent cats working in the camp.

Those Elu cats who wanted to earn more money to improve their lives, had some courage but did not meet the standard of sidekick cats, would take on the cat cart business.

Lann had seen these cats in action at the Xanthan base before, but he didn’t expect them to be this fast.

Moreover, it seemed if they weren’t reassured by a hunter distracting the monster, they could have moved even quicker.

”I say...” after hesitating for a moment, Lann tried to speak to the leading Elu cat.

”It seems like Little Jack is just knocked out, wouldn’t it be better to wake him up?”

By Lann’s biological knowledge standards, Little Jack showed no obvious signs of fracture and had mostly bruises and impact wounds, possibly with three or four broken ribs?

But for hunters, this wasn’t considered too serious an injury.

Lann thought: one cat cart should cost one-third of the task reward, so since Little Jack wasn’t too badly hurt, they should at least ask for his opinion.

However, the leading Elu cat’s big, bright eyes darted around.

As if it didn’t hear Lann’s words due to the forest noise, it turned and jumped onto the belly of Little Jack, lying on the cat cart.

With an air of command, it crossed its arms: ”Little ones! Let’s go meow! We must save the hunters’ lives meow!”

”Meow!” *N

Lann vaguely saw Little Jack’s eyelids twitch slightly.

But it was quickly covered by the belly of the leading Elu cat.

It lay on Little Jack’s face, just like a captain guiding direction through a storm.

”Little ones, charge meow!”

Then, the cats quickly pushed the cat cart and disappeared into the depths of the forest.

...Alright then.

Lann awkwardly licked his lips.

Let’s consider it the over-enthusiasm of the Elu cats.

After making sure Little Jack was safe, Lann returned to the Barbaric Jaws Dragon and skinned its tail again.

Unfortunately, he didn’t obtain any rare material like [Dragon Gem].

Not long after, the logistics team from the Xanthan base appeared and used a pulley system to lift the several-ton beast onto a cart pulled by herbivorous dragons.

The scholars at Xanthan’s first level had specifically commissioned the Phase Two team to build a cable car elevator for transporting captured monsters; the Barbaric Jaws Dragon was ultimately sent there.

As soon as it arrived, almost all the scholars gathered around it.

These scholars had originally been ready and preparing to observe the Molten Mountain Dragon up close.

But now, one by one, they unloaded their backpacks, took out their paper and pens, stretching their necks hoping for a closer look at the sleeping giant.

”Oh my...” a Little Douding Dragon Race elder exclaimed while continuously sketching with his pen and paper.

And behind the many scholars, Lann stood with the Commander-in-Chief.

”Is this the Barbaric Jaws Dragon wandering around the base?”

The Commander-in-Chief frowned.

”It looks a bit different from the usual Barbaric Jaws Dragons... a special individual?”

A special individual refers to a monster within a species that has undergone changes markedly different from the typical type.

”I have the same feeling.”

Being the hunter who single-handedly captured this Barbaric Jaws Dragon, Lann certainly had the most to say.

”Even its combat style differs from the usual species. That disproportionately sturdy leg is incredibly powerful, and the seemingly normal leg can actually secrete a combustible substance.”

”This is a major discovery,” the Commander-in-Chief nodded and said, ”If we weren’t in a rush to address the Molten Mountain Dragon, we should definitely prioritize researching this special individual.”

”But this isn’t a special individual, Commander-in-Chief.”

The head of the Ecological Research Institute lifted his head from his paper, happily countering the Commander-in-Chief.

As a scholar who crossed the ocean to this New Continent, the creature before him undeniably excited him.

The eyes behind his glasses practically sparkled.

”Based on my observations and the combat details you just discussed... I declare this Barbaric Jaws Dragon to be our investigation team’s first [Named] discovery in the New Continent!”

Thus proclaimed the head of the institute.

”Its name is [Fierce Claw]!”
