Bear School Astartes

The nasal bone, which had just been extended, was shattered in an instant by Lann’s [Air Blade Grand Spin]!

The sparks that occasionally erupted from the Barbaric Jaws Dragon’s nasal cavity were even locked inside due to this.

The implosion made the dragon’s nose even more miserable.

This is the consequence of having your actions seen through.

Lann’s [Spirit Vision] granted him insight into the heat flow of this creature.

And the Barbaric Jaws Dragon’s own combat mode largely relied on the heat that its body generated.

The unfolding of its wing membrane, the activation of its Flame Bag, the extension of its nasal bone... all required accumulated body heat from intense activity.

In the combat plan devised by Lann and Mentos, these elements were all manipulated perfectly by the duo.

Confronted with the dragon’s leap and slam, followed by a hidden large-scale flame spray within the smoke and dust,

These continuous and abrupt moves were something Lann had never seen before, let alone had experience dealing with.

But just now, he systematically did [Seeing Cut] first, then interrupted the subsequent [Air Blade Grand Spin].

Immediately following, he used [Seeing Cut] and the [Quen Rune] again.

This signified that the Demon Hunter had completely deciphered the dragon’s actions, countering them with his techniques.

The result was: a humanoid creature weighing 300 kilograms with a base strength of less than five tons, forcibly holding a monster weighing tens of tons, with powerful leg force capable of spinning kicks, and capable of large flame sprays, to a standstill!

One sword stroke from the [Air Blade Grand Spin] shattered the dragon’s nasal bone.

At the same time, the high-density battle energy on the [Murkflow] sword blade turned a glowing red.

The highest state of Air Blade — Red Blade state!

Lann’s horizontal strike with the blade that smashed the nasal bone even knocked the dragon’s multi-ton head askew.

Taking advantage of the twisted, fierce-looking jaws, Lann immediately closed in.

Utilizing the protrusions on the giant beast as footholds, he ascended level by level.

His robust athletic ability allowed him, on the last leap, to directly spring higher than the dragon’s head.

His massive body was fully extended, forming a backbend in mid-air.

The dark [Murkflow] was raised overhead.

As gravity pulled his body down, a lone, piercing red line lingered in the air traversed by the [Murkflow].

Smoothly landing alongside the dragon, the blade held over his head was now positioned with its tip downwards, the hilt aimed at his abdomen, in a post-slice stance.

A quarter of a second later.

”Sss” *7

Several continuous ripping and tearing sounds of air and flesh were heard.

[Air Blade Slash], the most destructive technique in katana methods.

It unleashed all the battle energy highly compressed on the blade in a single cut, causing these energies to erupt with delay inside the target.

However, this powerful Air Blade, upgraded through high-density battle energy compression, would degrade by one level after use.

”Awoo!”

A painful howl accompanied by a splash of blood.

The pair of unfolded wing membranes on the dragon’s back, like its previously shattered nasal bone, was promptly cut into tatters by the [Air Blade Slash].

These wing membranes were filled with blood vessels, enabling the dragon to dissipate heat quickly.

Thus, when shredded, the blood flow was unusually massive.

When attacked, it slumped downwards as though its spine had been shattered, while behind it erupted waves of blood like blossoms.

With the nasal bone and wing membranes both breached, the dragon’s fierce nature seemed subdued along with the massive blood loss and declining body temperature.

It began whimpering, limping towards the dense forest.

”Tsk.”

Lann ground his molars in dissatisfaction.

He was beginning to feel that [Murkflow] was somewhat inadequate against these explosively resilient creatures of this world.

He originally anticipated that this [Air Blade Slash] would open a big gash in the dragon’s side.

However, it ended up merely crippling its wing membranes.

In this world, the [Murkflow] blade seems a tad small.

But at least this mission was essentially secured.

Faced with the dragon charging unheedingly into the trees, Lann pulled out two pink medicinal spheres from the Alchemy Pouch at his back.

These were tranquilizer orbs crafted by the research team, made from Paralysis Mushrooms and Sleep Herbs from the New World, releasing anesthetic dust with powerful effects when shattered.

If the monster was weakened to the brink of collapse beforehand, these specially potent anesthetics could suppress their robust vitality, plunging the creature into deep sleep.

A spiraling airflow wrapped around Lann’s legs.

[Acceleration Technique] activated, the Demon Hunter flashed like ethereal steam onto the dragon’s path.

He leapt up, lodging two tranquilizer orbs directly into the dragon’s shattered nostrils.

Then his hand, clad in gloves with reinforced metal plates, formed a fist and slammed onto the dragon’s snout with a ”bang”.

Both tranquilizer orbs were crushed with a snap, exactly when Lann estimated the dragon would inhale.

The pink powder followed the respiratory tract into its body.

Already woozy from tremendous blood loss, the dragon didn’t have time for any reflexive reaction before overwhelming drowsiness coursed from within.

With its severely wounded body, many of its defense systems had already failed.

And its once vigorous vitality was waning.

Unsurprisingly, after barely staggering a few more steps, with a ”thud”,

This colossal wild beast, weighing tens of tons, collapsed on the scorched ground it had scorched earlier.

Lann shouldered the [Murkflow], which had downgraded to Yellow Blade state after using [Air Blade Slash].

He cautiously tapped the dragon’s cheek with his toe.

This ferocious giant now showed no reaction, only steady, deep breathing.

The capture of the Barbaric Jaws Dragon was complete.

Knowing it was possible to capture prey, Lann preferred not to kill them.

One reason was that captured prey would be sent back to the Star Base for study, and hunters were well compensated.

Scholars disassembled some biological tissues for their research, and these were negligible for the monsters recovering life force while unconscious.

In fact, one could acquire even more than hunters stripping resources themselves.

As these preys would eventually be released back into nature under scholar guidance, the rewards hunters received hardly constituted excessive extraction from the wild.

Another reason was... these amazingly robust creatures were so tough to kill!

Most creatures could still thrash about for over an hour even after being halved! Their near-death counteractions were even more fierce than in normal circumstances!

A complete waste of time and needless danger.
