Bear School Astartes

Accompanied by that intense, overwhelmingly savage aura, a black silhouette leaped down from the towering land mass of giant coral reefs!

”Boom!”

The massive dish-shaped coral reef, spanning a full square kilometer, quaked entirely.

If it weren’t for the solid support beneath the coral reef, this impact might have shattered the entire terrain!

The white sand accumulated on the dish-shaped coral reef was shaken into a cloud of dust under the pressure and shockwave.

Enveloping the creature that had leapt down.

At first, only a pair of blood-red eyes shone through the dust, the rest remained a pitch-black silhouette.

The young kirin, previously indulged in the leisure and emptiness of munching on land seaweed, lost its daze the instant the figure appeared.

The thunderclouds in the sky, in sync with the kirin’s regal and stern demeanor, grew increasingly dense. The azure lightning carried a power that made all creatures tremble, occasionally sparking a glow in the dark clouds.

And as the dust gradually settled, the creature bold enough to invade the ancient dragon’s territory also slowly revealed its form.

It was a figure resembling a great ape.

Covered entirely in black fur, with a muscular and robust body.

The upper body resembled an extremely strong gorilla, with large arms exuding a vicious intimidation.

The lower body, however, had the recurved joints typical of predators, lean yet firm.

The facial length was akin to a baboon, but appeared even more ferocious.

Two sharp horns, growing laterally like those of a buffalo, carried a blood-tinged sharpness.

The Grand Commander beside Lann, almost reflexively blurted out a name at the sight of this creature.

”Gold Lion?!”

The suddenly uttered name visibly startled Lann.

Although the creature’s aura was fierce, it hardly matched the imagery of a ’lion,’ did it?

Moreover, its whole body was pitch-black, where did the ’Gold’ come from?

The Gold Lion is an exceedingly rare creature, with even fewer reports of sightings. So far, the New Continent Expedition Team has not produced any sighting reports in the new continent.

Even a library-rich ecological research institute would have records of this creature buried at the bottom, relics from the old continent.

Thus, Lann had never seen one.

But Lann had no time to ask, and the Grand Commander had no time to explain to the outsider.

Because on the dish-shaped coral reef, the confrontation between the kirin and the Gold Lion was reaching a breaking point.

Though young, this kirin displayed far more composure than the monster called [Gold Lion].

It lowered its head slightly, that cerulean, crystalline-like horn faintly aimed at its enemy, yet its steps remained graceful, steady, and confident.

However, as the kirin got serious, even on the not-so-conductive coral reef and white sand, blue electric arcs began to flicker due to the intense ionic changes in the environment.

But on the Gold Lion’s side, the creature, whom Lann was meeting for the first time, seemed not the patient type.

Its baboon-like face twitched uncontrollably at the corners of its mouth, occasionally baring its menacing canine teeth.

Its unusually thick arms moved subconsciously on the ground, its powerful fists and sheer strength pressing into the coral reef with such force that they left two indents without much noise.

”Awooo!!!”

Seemingly out of patience, the Gold Lion snorted two excited bursts of white smoke from its nostrils and howled skyward!

Then, with a powerful push from its recurved legs, it charged madly towards the kirin!

Its head tilted slightly to one side, just aligning one of its lateral horns with its foe.

Lann frowned at the scene.

Logically, the kirin’s naturally generated strong electric field should be enough to harm humans, and make any large creature extremely uncomfortable.

Yet this creature named Gold Lion opted for a direct rush tactic in this situation... Is it a purely melee fighter?

Lann’s speculation was soon confirmed.

This pitch-black beast, raising a fist the size of a cooking pot, swung it towards the kirin.

Its movements were brutal and wild, like a berserk lunatic, with unpredictable attack intentions.

But in what seemed like chaotic attacks, Lann, combining Mentos’s data, discovered that over 65% of this beast’s seemingly random punches were aimed at the kirin’s head.

This strong predilection for attack often appears in predetermined attack plans.

Which means, either this pitch-black beast is actually a cunning being, and its frenzy is just a facade.

Or, the Gold Lion is very familiar with the kirin, to the extent that its tactics against it are ingrained instinct within its species.

But evidently, Lann himself leaned towards the second guess.

The kirin’s intense current is considered the nemesis to most creatures.

Almost as it neared the kirin, the Gold Lion’s rough, resilient black fur would be burned mushy by the intense heat of the current, sticking to its skin.

And as true contact was made, the current would scorch the Gold Lion’s hide, burning the charred fur into large, solidified grotesque marks.

Such scars, even just looking at them, would incite a kind of empathetic pain, compelling one to grit their teeth and twitch the corner of their mouth.

But the Gold Lion... it showed no trace of hesitation in its punching!

The fists for punching, the outer forearms for swinging.

These parts, often used to attack the kirin, were already shedding hardened, burnt debris from electrocution!

Yet the Gold Lion’s frenzied roar was still devoid of any fear or outlet for the pain, instead filled with its perpetual rage and excitement!

Lann no longer bore any doubts—this creature was indeed a battle maniac!

The most unhinged kind!

”Awooooo!”

”Boom!”

A massive fist struck the side of the kirin’s face, creating wave-like ripples in the air from the sheer force.

The lightweight, small-framed kirin was immediately sent flying from the punch.

Like a cannonball, it crashed into the rocky wall formed by stacked coral reefs.

However, at the moment of impact, an arc of electricity flashed on the kirin’s cerulean horn.

The overcast sky instantly unleashed a lightning bolt straight down!

With a ”crack,” it struck the Gold Lion’s back!

A basin-sized gaping wound was blown into the beast’s back, the blood and flesh that splattered out burnt and sealed onto the surface by the high-voltage current before contacting the air.

The kirin possessed a resilience unbefitting its lightweight form.

And this resilience would be greatly enhanced after being bathed in lightning.

The Gold Lion’s punch seemed to merely send it flying, but it essentially allowed the kirin to naturally dissipate the force without much dizziness.
