Bear School Astartes

Spider Rom.

When the leader of the second unit looked at Lann with that strange expression, the first thought that crossed the Demon Hunter’s mind was the image of that ’spider that ensnares time’.

A grotesque, calm, irrational being, yet born from a human scholar—an ’Ancient God’, an ’Elder Being’.

The [Murky Stream] greatsword had accompanied him on journeys across several worlds, but as for truly slicing something ’extraordinary’, there was only at... Yan’an.

In that massive mountain city regarded by the Ancient Gods as a playground and nursery, people injected themselves with degraded blood derived from the Ancient Gods as if they were addicted, drunk in ecstasy.

And it was there that the [Murky Stream] severed Spider Rom’s head.

In that battle, Lann temporarily assumed the mindset of a complete Interstellar Warrior by entering a [Memory Deep Dive] state of his own volition, receiving some exhortations from a ’Supreme Will’.

”What did you feel?”

Lann’s eyes narrowed slightly as he looked down at the leader of the second unit, who seemed dried up.

Yanyan’s Blood... this thing is too dangerous.

Just thinking about the vast, dark mountain city, filled with countless roaming, beastly patients, was enough to heighten one’s vigilance to the utmost.

Not to mention, the ’visions’ of those Ancient Gods seemed to expand along with their blood.

Was it something that clung on after [Murky Stream] severed Spider Rom’s head then? But afterward, the Lady of the Lake personally cleansed him of the ’impurities’, and the [Murky Stream] had been used many times without any issues, right?

Lann sifted through the possibilities in his mind one by one.

The world now faced several considerable troubles, but none combined felt as threatening as Yanyan’s Blood to Lann.

Fortunately, under Lann’s meticulous observation, even activating [Spirit Vision], the leader of the second unit still appeared as a normal, healthy yet exhausted human.

He lowered his head, brushed his steel-brush-like bristles, and said nothing, merely pointing a thumb over his shoulder.

”Inspect the quality first... don’t mind me, I don’t think I’ll want to enter this little workshop again for a while. I might even end up dismantling it down the road.”

Lann nodded silently, bending down to squeeze into the small workshop.

Light seeping through the cracks in the walls brushed against him, as the Demon Hunter walked over to the felt cloth in the corner before stopping.

Beneath the wide felt cloth lay a large object leaning against the corner, its rigid contour accentuated by how the cloth draped over it.

Lann’s fingers gently slid over the felt cloth before he resolved himself and yanked a corner of it off with a swift motion!

With a loud rustle.

Dust particles illuminated by the few strands of light in the small workshop churned up from the airflow.

Finally, in the dim light... appeared before Lann.

”Surprising.”

The Demon Hunter’s fingers softly glided over the cold, hard steel, speaking in a low voice.

”I thought, after adding ’those’ materials to it, you’d make its appearance even more... wild.”

In this world, weapons and equipment often utilized more monster materials, with blacksmiths proficiently maintaining and applying these materials’ vitality.

Thus, it was common to see a greatsword covered with rugged dragon scales, extending explosive thorns.

A one-handed sword might simply be a monster’s claw, a long tooth edged, shaped, and fitted with a handle.

Lann had expected, with the [Murky Stream] being reforged using those materials, it would turn even more... ferocious?

The Demon Hunter wasn’t quite sure what the final appearance would be.

But unexpectedly.

What finally appeared before Lann was a greatsword that could only be described as ’unadorned’.

This greatsword’s specifications matched those of the world’s Hunter weapons completely.

Of course, since it was crafted for Lann, the ’standardization’ referred to the weapon’s size compared to the user.

For Lann, standing at a clean height of two and a half meters, the greatsword’s overall length reached three meters and two!

Its width matched Lann’s chest, and its thickness was equal to his fist.

A genuinely colossal weapon that could almost not be called a ’sword’!

With no decoration, nor any biological characteristics that this world’s blacksmiths excelled at employing.

Straightforward and unadorned lines, with the hilt wrapped in gray-white dragon leather. The excess dragon leather wasn’t trimmed off but dangled from the hilt’s end like a ribbon.

Though its appearance was unassuming, the moment Lann gently pressed his soft fingertip on the broad blade.

A vicious and bloody sensation suddenly surged in his mind.

His nostrils seemed to overflow with a thick scent of blood.

If one’s mental fortitude were at an average human level... merely touching or brushing against this sword with a clothing corner would make the heart race uncontrollably, plunging into panic, wouldn’t it?

Lann thought calmly.

He seemed to understand why the leader of the second unit was in this current state.

Forging such a weapon from his hands, in his perception... it could be akin to crafting a fire dragon from his own hands, right?

Moreover, not in a growth phase but instantly a fierce and ravenous adult Male Fire Dragon, the dominant ruler of the skies.

Quite terrifying for a technician who isn’t much of a combatant.

Various thoughts flashed through Lann’s mind, yet his hands remained as ever, terrifyingly steady.

Grasping the dragon leather-wrapped hilt, he lifted it from the corner.

The massive weight, even with such a slight move indoors, instilled a sense of fear.

It’s like a huge iron block, barely lifted from a corner before humans, yet the fragile biological brain of flesh and blood had already begun to imagine the results of physical confrontation with such an object.

This weight felt burdensome even for Lann, with his enhanced bones and muscle strength.

But that’s precisely what the Demon Hunter was expecting.

Because the weapon’s weight is, in a sense, its ’destructive power’.

”When do you plan to dismantle this small workshop?”

Lann, examining the large sword before him, suddenly asked.

The leader of the second unit outside the door seemed to have anticipated the question.

”Don’t you think of using my workshop to test the sword. If it’s getting dismantled, I’ll do it!”

”Alright then.” Lann shrugged nonchalantly, maneuvering with constraint in the relatively cramped workshop for his size, hanging the large sword on his back, and ducking out the door.

Outside, he saw the leader of the second unit sitting on a small stool, his single eye gazing at him and the sword on his back with a complex expression.

”Satisfied?”

”Couldn’t be more satisfied.”

”That’s good.” The man with steely bristles exhaled deeply, as if finally freed from some torment.

”With this... it should let me go.”
