Bear School Astartes

The hunters were all set to go.

This was a joint operation involving hundreds of hunters from the New Continent Expedition Team.

In the tradition of the world’s hunters, there seems to be a saying that ’a team with more than four members brings misfortune’.

So in regular missions, hunters would at most form a four-person squad.

But ultimately, this is just a custom. When facing super-sized elder dragons that are no less than natural disasters, people wish they could throw in all their combat power.

”Did you bring my stuff?”

Before mounting the flying dragon, Wende asked Lann.

On his back was a heavy crossbow named ”Flower Launcher,” and he was covered with belts filled with water-cooled bullets.

Nonetheless, last night he still went to Lann’s side and handed over the ”Pulse Scimitar” to him.

He hoped the Demon Hunter could apply their ’hometown trick’ on it.

As the secret weapon of the Hunter’s Guild, the top hunter, Wende also felt that many unexpected situations might arise in this final attack.

Lann gave him a reassuring look and patted his alchemy pouch on his waist.

”All set.”

Then, Wende and Aiden simultaneously whistled to call over the flying dragons.

The team, three people and a cat, flew towards the depths of the valley, following the black smoke drifting from the volcano.

’Boom, rumble!’

The geological structure of the valley amplified the sound effects.

The armor of the Molten Mountain Dragon rubbed against the ground with heavy footsteps.

Also, the sound of cannons and crossbows, which humans had previously mounted on the surrounding mountain walls, continuously hitting the Molten Mountain Dragon.

These cannons resembled Earth’s 18th-century ones,

but their effects and technology were far superior to those in ordinary worlds.

The cannons used some unknown technology, capable of loading five shells simultaneously and firing them all in one trigger pull.

The ammunition used many natural materials from this world, yielding unimaginable burning efficiency and explosive effects.

Yet even so, after hitting the Molten Mountain Dragon, these cannons only made large dents from which dark red viscous magma poured down.

But shortly after, this lava solidified again into a black rock shell.

The attack from the outside on the Molten Mountain Dragon could only have such an effect at most.

”Behind us is the valley’s exit! We cannot let the Molten Mountain Dragon get out of here!”

The Commander-in-Chief stood at the battle position facing the Molten Mountain Dragon, shouting at everyone.

”Drive it back! Hunters, charge!”

Lann, their three-person and one-cat team, also boarded the back of the Molten Mountain Dragon at this time.

The whistling sound of artillery shells slicing through the air was sharp.

The acrid smell of gunpowder, the explosive firelight of lava being blasted, the sound of the rocky shell shattering...

This place didn’t look like a hunters’ hunting ground; rather, it resembled a battlefield.

A battlefield between humans and elder dragons!

Unconsciously, upon boarding the back of the Molten Mountain Dragon, Lann took a deep breath.

The gunpowder and intense heat seemingly activated certain reactions that had been etched into his body while in ”Memory Deep Dive.”

These symbols of a hot weapon battlefield surprisingly made him... feel a bit nostalgic for a moment.

”Stick to the original plan.”

With a sentiment of inexplicable nostalgia rising within the Demon Hunter, he dispatched orders with a calm and professional demeanor.

He seemed to have completely adapted to this battlefield.

The remaining hunters, after boarding the Molten Mountain Dragon’s shell, each progressed towards the upper and lower ends of the dragon’s spinal line while leaving the most spacious and visible middle section to Lann and his three-person one-cat group.

At this position, everyone was aware.

Their mission was not only to destroy the Molten Mountain Dragon’s regenerating cooling organs but also to act as ’bait.’

To lure the Extinct Dragon, which could appear at any moment, directly here and provide a safe operating environment for other less skilled hunters.

Over the last three days, since they had been constantly running on the back of the Molten Mountain Dragon, they basically knew where this elder dragon’s cooling organs were distributed.

Without much talking, they immediately started climbing and running up and down the Molten Mountain Dragon’s shell.

The Molten Mountain Dragon’s shell, although formed from flowing, solidified lava, should theoretically present a smooth, semi-solid surface, affected by gravity.

However, it is still a living being. During its movements, these lava walls were worn into drastically uneven shapes.

For instance, the joints requiring movement appeared as sudden ravines.

In the lesserused mid-back, it was wide and flat.

After climbing past a several-meter-high rock layer, the three-man one-cat team identified their target.

At this moment, on the Molten Mountain Dragon’s tail and head, two different sets of fireworks rose almost simultaneously.

This signified that all hunters were in position.

Today, they intended to destroy all the cooling organs on the Molten Mountain Dragon’s body at the same time.

Lann and Wende each took the heavy crossbow from their waists, and with a ’click,’ they cocked the lever.

They then nodded at Aiden.

In the mid-back, a final firework flew into the sky.

And simultaneously... ”Bang, bang, bang!”

The roaring sound of the heavy crossbow became deafening in an instant!

The water-cooled bullets exploded like firecrackers on the Molten Mountain Dragon’s cooling organs.

Inside, special water sprays burst from the unique warheads. These biologically permeable sprays infiltrated the Molten Mountain Dragon’s biological tissue before being evaporated by the high heat.

The originally hot cooling organs suddenly cooled down, and the thermal expansion and contraction effect made these already fragile organs start to emit ’crackling’ breaking sounds.

The pain caused to the Molten Mountain Dragon was akin to forcibly tearing scabs not fully healed.

”Awwooooo!!!”

The agony emanating from the spinal column, combined with the heat building within and unable to dissipate, caused the Molten Mountain Dragon to emit an unprecedentedly painful bellow.

The terrifying lung capacity brought about a horrifying sound wave.

Even the less sturdy small rocks on both sides of the cliff were shaken loose and fell with this roar.

Compared to the negligible body temperature reduction from the water-cooled bullets, it’s the destructive impact of the sudden cooling of the high-heat entity that the hunters aimed to achieve.

The water-cooled bullets continued to be fired.

Everyone was aware this was the final combat window. Therefore, they were ready to empty their ammo belts.

The damaged cooling organs were the only way humans hoped to penetrate the Molten Mountain Dragon’s inner body.

But perhaps it was due to the unprecedentedly painful roar from this gigantic elder dragon.

In the sky, compressed into a line by the cliffs on both sides, as if in response.

A loud, oppressive roar resounded as well.

”Roar!!!”
