Bear School Astartes

”Just watch, the area up ahead is where I personally witnessed the battle between the Deer Head Spirit and the Extinct Dragon.”

”It’s quite different from the scenery of the Great Ant Mound Wasteland and the Ancient Tree Forest.”

said the Grand Commander confidently.

Lann was somewhat perplexed.

Although the New Continent is very magical, shouldn’t the Ancient Tree Forest and the Great Ant Mound Wasteland have already encompassed most of the possible terrain conditions?

No matter how amazing this remaining place is, could it still surprise him...

”Wow~”

Before he could finish his inner complaint, Lann couldn’t help but exclaim softly.

As the Winged Drake carried the Hunter through the crack made by the Molten Mountain Dragon, and through a mist of condensed moisture.

Presented in front of Lann was a scene like something out of a fairy tale, dreamlike.

The Grand Commander, as if having anticipated Lann’s reaction, smiled and said in a matter-of-fact tone.

”Welcome to the Land Coral Plateau, kid.”

The air flow here mostly goes from bottom to top, making it easy for the Winged Drake to fly.

Some glowing spore-like things drifted up with the air current, floating everywhere.

The main surface of this area was a faint bluish-purple hue, but on closer inspection, one would find that the so-called ’ground’ was not rock or soil.

But large pieces of coral reefs!

Disc-shaped coral reefs, upward-growing coral reefs, tube-shaped coral reefs...

Lann even had the feeling that he might have been put under an Illusion Technique by someone.

The scene before his eyes seemed like a well-lit, ecologically rich underwater world, not a high-altitude plateau.

”Scholars of the third group speculate that this was once an ocean. But due to sudden geological movements, or large biological events like the recent Molten Mountain Dragon Ancient Dragon Crossing, it was uplifted to this place.”

”But the originally aquatic coral larvae rapidly evolved with the support of abundant geological energy, adapting to the terrestrial environment in just a few hundred years, becoming terrestrial coral larvae. The fluorescent points floating in the sky are the eggs of the coral larvae.”

”After the coral larvae, as the most basic level of the ecosystem, completed their environmental adaptation, the reconstruction of the ecosystem was only natural.”

After briefly introducing the wide-mouthed Lann, the Grand Commander pointed in a direction.

”That’s where the third group’s airship crashed. They built a small outpost there. Do you want to go there first?”

After the initial shock, Lann also came back to his senses.

He shook his head lightly.

”Time is tight, and the task is urgent. We can say hello later, let’s first go to the place where you witnessed their fight and see if there are any clues.”

The Grand Commander shrugged, his deep and resonant voice revealing indifference.

”You’re the expert, you decide.”

So the Grand Commander piloted the Winged Drake, leading the way ahead.

Soon, they landed on a large coral reef.

This disc-shaped coral reef seemed to have experienced countless ages, appearing to be about a square kilometer in area.

The sedimented floating soil on top had almost turned into a layer of white sand, on which plants, terrestrial seaweed, and even Recovery Honey Grass and Healing Honey Insects grew.

It was a picture of ecological prosperity.

The two of them unhooked the projectors from the Winged Drake’s saddle and landed on the white sand.

Lann looked up at the sky, where dark thunderclouds were brewing.

The Winged Drakes also didn’t fly far away as they usually would, but instead landed on a higher stacked coral reef, using their beaks to scratch their backs.

”This big platform, they fought fiercely here. I hid there and watched the whole scene.”

The Grand Commander patted Lann on the shoulder, his stature made it easy for him to reach Lann’s shoulder without much effort.

The Demon Hunter’s perspective followed his finger.

The conflict between the Deer Head Spirit and the Extinct Dragon occurred at the central position of this large disc-shaped coral reef.

At that time, the Grand Commander hid on a stacked coral reef near the Winged Drake’s landing spot, documenting the conflict between the Ancient Dragon and other creatures.

Lann nodded silently, taking a deep breath and closing his eyes.

Upon reopening them, his cat eyes’ pupils had narrowed into a line.

Demon Hunter’s senses and [Spirit Sight] were both activated.

In this alien world, the Demon Hunter began his work hunting the Deer Head Spirit.

With each step observed by the cat eyes, Lann obtained a lot of information.

This platform regularly sees many creatures coming and going, leaving their footprints and scents behind.

However, there are few places in the New Continent that aren’t ecologically prosperous, and these messy creature traces were an expected difficulty for Lann.

The boots with external armor plates trod on the white sand, moving forward as his vision swept ahead.

In the center of the disc-shaped coral reef, Lann squatted down.

He dug into the white sand, rubbing the deeper soil with his fingers and bringing it to his nose to sniff.

”This is the scent of the Extinct Dragon’s blood, both arterial and venous... It was right here that its chest was opened by the Deer Head Spirit.”

Lann murmured softly.

After starting to hunt the Deer Head Spirit, he automatically entered the task state of the Magic World, which also automatically triggered the Demon Hunter’s ’occupational habit’—muttering to himself while recounting clues.

”The Extinct Dragon, following its instincts, retaliated. It broke the Deer Head Spirit’s arm. But unlike the world’s monsters, the Deer Head Spirit’s arm remained magically controlled even after being severed.”

”It drilled into the Extinct Dragon’s chest, attempting to extract its gem.”

In other places around the battle site, Lann found traces of tree roots breaking through the soil.

But without a doubt, the environment of the Land Coral Plateau never supported the growth of such plants, let alone ’breaking through the soil.’

This was the Deer Head Spirit’s Magic.

And on his chest, the silver Roaring Bear Head Necklace confirmed this point.

”The Magic Power is so abundant that even today it has significant remnants... Tsk, it really ’feasted’ here.”

Even though it did not immediately land in the most suitable environment for its survival, the Ancient Tree Forest, the New Continent’s lush and thriving ecological environment still greatly benefited the Deer Head Spirit.

The ground held even more traces, the Extinct Dragon’s barbed fragments shattered into small pieces, oak wood fragments that shouldn’t have appeared on the Land Coral Plateau.

Also, the Extinct Dragon’s claw impact marks on the ground, the sharp claw marks of the Deer Head Spirit...

Lann could basically confirm that the Deer Head Spirit should have first appeared on the Land Coral Plateau.

After all, this Deer Head Spirit hadn’t been around for long, and to accumulate the power it has now, it definitely needed to set up a totem and connect with the land to draw strength the moment it entered this world.

It’s very likely the Extinct Dragon discovered something amiss here while the Deer Head Spirit was manipulating, and then came over to fight.

Next, Lann needed to search within the Land Coral Plateau for the Deer Head Spirit’s totem and possibly existing individuals marked for resurrection.

Solving a big question put Lann somewhat at ease.

But then... ”Crack!”

Violent and abrupt thunder echoed across the dark clouds, startling both hunters.

”Is the weather here always like this?” Lann stood up from his half-squat and asked the Grand Commander, ”It looks quite gloomy.”

But the Grand Commander, with a serious face, thoughtfully gazed at the thunderclouds in the sky.

”No, it’s usually sunny and calm here. Besides...”

The Grand Commander’s grave gaze moved from the sky to Lann.

”Don’t you find something a bit off?”
