Bear School Astartes

Lann kicked aside the black-haired tail he had chopped off to prevent stepping on it and to avoid it being damaged by the Barbaric Jaws Dragon’s next attack.

The tail counted as a chance to gather materials.

After Gaffi had introduced this rule to Lann, he remembered it deeply.

It must be said that the process of obtaining loot from the defeated monster is also a major source of motivation for warriors who enthusiastically challenge powerful creatures.

It combines the dual joy of victory and reward.

No wonder Wende is enthusiastic about gathering materials.

Lann slightly bent his body, holding the ”Murkflow” sword, which was already covered in a layer of high-density combat vigor due to external pressure.

”Yellow Blade State.”

Compared to the previous White Blade State, the Yellow Blade’s attack power has been greatly enhanced.

If he had used this blade to chop the Barbaric Jaws Dragon’s tail, the first strike should have cut more than a third into its tail bone.

Now, even as the not-so-sharp blade of the ”Murkflow” sweeps through the air over the weeds, the frail weeds would still be neatly trimmed.

The severed tail abruptly disrupted the Barbaric Jaws Dragon’s balance.

However, it performed far better than the first Fierce Jackal Dragon Lann hunted.

The lost balance from its tail was stubbornly compensated by its unnaturally strong leg.

In less than two seconds, it regained its stance without rolling excessively on the ground.

But that was not all.

The inherent fierceness in its bones made the Barbaric Jaws Dragon roar at Lann as soon as it stabilized.

However, due to the previous painful wailing, it had lost much of its strength, so this roar was more intimidating.

Gone was the terrifying volume that could shatter eardrums when standing even at a distance at the beginning.

Although it was still piercing, it could not cause any organic damage, so Lann could naturally bear it.

The Demon Hunter advanced towards the Barbaric Jaws Dragon with the ”Murkflow” blade glimmering with a gentle yellow light.

But before he took two steps, Lann’s bright eyes slightly squinted.

The light red combat vigor exploded!

The Barbaric Jaws Dragon, which initially couldn’t stop rushing forward, and later rolled due to the tail being cut, was now at least twenty meters away from Lann.

Driven by its ferocious nature, it instead dug its feet into the ground, the immense muscles of its strong legs propelling its multi-ton body into the air!

Then it leaped over twenty meters, crashing down toward Lann!

”Boom!!!”

At this moment, Lann slightly adjusted his perception of the leg power of this Barbaric Jaws Dragon.

So when using ”Spiritual Sight” to scrutinize the flow of heat and kinetic energy within it, the Demon Hunter cleanly and crisply executed ”Foreseen Dodge.”

”Ding!”

A weight of dozens of tons, flesh stronger than standard steel, plummeted from a height of over twenty meters.

The impact was akin to a collapsed building.

Yet, under the Hunter’s skill, Lann, whose armor and weapons glimmered with shallow red combat vigor flames, lightly evaded amidst the billowing dust.

The combat vigor flames on him were even brighter than when executing ”Foreseen Dodge” earlier.

Nonetheless, the Demon Hunter did not follow immediately with ”Air Blade Grand Spin” as planned, to enhance the blade of the ”Murkflow.”

Instead, in the haze, Lann again struck the precursor posture of ”Foreseen Dodge.”

”Ding!”

The sound of activated combat vigor lightly preluded, and after this sound... a curtain of flame suddenly swept across the ground!

The spewing flames surged from the ground to the sky.

The flying dust was instantly blasted away by the fire breath! And thirty meters away at the edge of the forest, just the breath scorched the treetops, turning the lush green leaves and branches into charred black carbon!

Before releasing the massive flames from its mouth, the Barbaric Jaws Dragon habitually lowers its head to gather strength.

So when it releases, its head lifts from a lowered position, causing the flames to fan out, sweeping everything before it.

But this attack method, gathering a great deal of heat energy, was the most predictable thing for Lann...

The impact of the flames is neutralized by ”Foreseen Dodge,” and ordinary Hunters would normally be blasted away by the fierce flames.

Yet Lann did not move even one step.

Without the impact, the heat of the flames was blocked by a layer of golden magic shield from outside.

The ”Quen Rune” shielded against the flame damage that ”Foreseen Dodge” couldn’t handle.

The Barbaric Jaws Dragon’s flames differ from those of the Male Fire Dragon or Female Fire Dragon. Its flames have more impact but lack the nature of sustainable burning in the environment. More resembling a blast of scattered fire sparks.

Thus, after neutralizing the impact, the pressure on the ”Quen Rune” was not significant.

Ultimately, the Barbaric Jaws Dragon, attempting to cover itself with a smokescreen for a fire breath attack, was anticipated and guarded by Lann.

A series of two combined ”Foreseen Dodge” and ”Quen Rune” resulted in no injuries whatsoever.

Only after the flames dissipated the dust did the Barbaric Jaws Dragon’s current appearance emerge.

The wild and savage mandibles naturally needed no mention, while the other changes primarily occurred in the nasal cavity and back.

The Barbaric Jaws Dragon’s nasal cavity bones have a retractable structure, which can expand when the body is highly active or excited.

And on its back, two gigantic wing membranes grow, appearing like comical little wings.

But these wings are not meant for flight; the wing membranes usually fold beneath the black body hair on its back, barely noticeable.

The current unfurling was due to the body having accumulated too much heat throughout the intense activity of combat.

The Flame Bag’s activity was thus excessively high, so to avoid damaging the body, the wing membranes would open to accelerate heat release.

In brief, the expansion of the wing membranes and nasal cavity bone signified that the Barbaric Jaws Dragon’s body was fully engaged in its most active combat state.

The raised nasal cavity and small back wings should seemingly serve as humorous decorations.

Yet, at this moment, the Barbaric Jaws Dragon’s fire breath just swept over the thirty-plus meter radius fan-shaped area in front of it.

From ground to air, what was once vibrant green transformed completely into charcoal!

The lingering sulfur smell, hot air, and low panting roars of the gigant were... any comical decoration on its body at this moment would only heighten the perception of its fierce might!

But then...

”Air Blade Grand Spin!”

”Vswish!”

A shallow red arc glided across the sky.

Amid the creaking sounds, it horizontally slashed across the newly expanded nasal cavity bone of the Barbaric Jaws Dragon!

The expanded nasal cavity had not unfolded for long before being horizontally shattered by the dark blade!

”Guaaah!!!”

The unexpected pain drew another agonized howl from the Barbaric Jaws Dragon.
