Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 394: Chapter 394: You Reap What You Sow

The two chatted all the way. Suddenly, Yunyi thought of something. ”Jingrui, there aren’t many people on this road. May I drive for a bit?”

Huo Jingrui turned his head to look at her. ”Do you know how to drive?”

The original owner of this body, of course, had never touched a car. She said vaguely, ”When I used to go out on medical visits with Grandpa, I learned from others a few times, but it’s been a long time since I’ve driven.”

Perhaps because it was an overcast day, there were indeed very few pedestrians on the road. Plus, he had his own little scheme in mind. ”Alright,” he said. ”Then you drive slowly. Our main priority is safety.”

Yunyi readily agreed. For one, she really wanted to experience driving a jeep of this era, and secondly, it would serve as an excuse for her being able to drive in the future.

Huo Jingrui first explained everything to her again in detail, then slowly pulled the car over to the roadside.

After they switched seats, Huo Jingrui explained the essentials and techniques of driving to her, all while prepared to take over at a moment’s notice.

However, he hadn’t expected that, although Yunyi was a bit shaky at first, once she adapted, her driving skills were no worse than those of drivers at the factory who had been driving for several years.

Afterwards, she became even more steady, and his eyes were filled with delight. ”Yiyi, may I call you that from now on?”

Thinking of her previous two lives, Yunyi nodded lightly. ”Yes,” she said.

Huo Jingrui smiled when he saw her agree. ”Yiyi, your aptitude is truly exceptional. Not many people can drive so steadily after only trying a few times.”

Yunyi teased him with a smile, ”What about you?”

Though Huo Jingrui was reluctant to admit it, he answered honestly, ”Truly not as good as you. Although I also picked it up quickly, it took me a while of getting used to the car before I could drive steadily.”

Seeing how well Yunyi was driving, he stopped watching her and leaned back in his seat, bringing up another topic. ”Yiyi, did anything happen when you returned to Beijing this time?”

Yunyi did not hide anything, recounting Zhang Xueyan’s actions to him in detail. ”Do you think she’s out of her mind? She got herself replaced by putting on airs, and yet she blames me. Just for such a trivial matter, she wanted to find someone to ruin my innocence. God knows how many people she has harmed before. And as for her uncle, I don’t think he’s a good person either. The despicable things his niece did—it must have been his backing that gave her the courage.”

Although Huo Jingrui had already known the truth of the matter from childhood friends and other acquaintances, his fists still clenched in anger when he heard Yunyi recount the events. Fortunately, he had made arrangements before leaving Beijing. Although the young woman was quite skilled, and with her abilities, those people naturally couldn’t harm her, he still felt a lingering fear when he heard the news from Beijing. He was just worried they might use some underhanded tactics and she, being unprepared, might fall into their trap.

And Zhang Xueyan, the subject of their conversation, was now yelling at the officers investigating her case like a lunatic, ”I don’t know anything! Don’t accuse an innocent person! I want to see my uncle!”

Zhang Xueyan probably never imagined that even though she hadn’t revealed her face when she hired those people, and had hidden herself away before they even acted, they could still trace it back to her.

She was truly terrified now, her only thought to wait for Luo Yihai to come and rescue her.

Unfortunately, she was doomed to be disappointed this time. Although Luo Yihai genuinely didn’t know about this particular incident, this event brought to light some of Zhang Xueyan’s previous dirty deeds. She had committed all of them under Luo Yihai’s name, so he was now implicated as well.

Luo Yihai truly hadn’t imagined that his seemingly gentle and weak niece would use his name to bully others, even causing two girls about her age to lose their innocence.

He stood there, utterly dumbfounded, his feelings at that moment beyond description.

Zhang Xueyan kicked up a huge fuss, and eventually, she did get to see Luo Yihai. However, upon seeing her, Luo Yihai immediately slapped her hard. ”You have truly disappointed me! How could you, how dare you do such outrageous things?”

Zhang Xueyan covered her face, stunned. After a long moment, she finally spoke, ”You hit me?”

Luo Yihai’s face was flushed with anger. ”I put so much effort into nurturing you! Who do you think you’ve done right by with these actions?”

Seeing her uncle’s bloodshot eyes, Zhang Xueyan was instantly frightened. ”Uncle, I know I was wrong. Please help me.”

Luo Yihai, looking at her with bitter disappointment, said, ”You’ve brought this upon yourself. It’s too late now.”
