Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 364: Chapter 364 Our Daughter Has Someone Else

At the same time, Ye Wenhui also reported back Ye Wenjuan’s blood type, which clearly wasn’t the daughter of the third branch, Ye Bingkun and Zhang Baoxiang. Ye Bingyu and Zhang Baosheng had served in the army together for many years and naturally knew each other’s blood types, so all the pieces started to fall into place. Qin Lijuan said that back then, while no one was paying attention, she had switched Fang Zhichun’s and Xia Dongxue’s children. She did this because she knew in advance that Zhang Baosheng’s assignment had gone wrong and he could no longer stay in the army; it was her way of taking revenge on Ye Bingyu.

In the evening, Ye Bingyu brought Xia Dongxue to the old house. It wasn’t long before his younger brother, Ye Binglin, also returned.

Xia Dongxue, noticing that everyone seemed upset, asked, ”What’s happened? What’s going on?”

Elder Master Ye and Ye Binglin both looked at Ye Bingyu, causing Xia Dongxue’s heart to skip a beat, her mind thrown into turmoil.

Assuming Ye Bingyu had made some mistake at work, Xia Dongxue asked, ”Bingyu, did something happen at work?”

Ye Bingyu gently guided her to the sofa. ”Dongxue,” he said, ”there is something I need to tell you, but it’s not about work. You must stay calm when you hear it.”

Hearing this, Xia Dongxue grew even more anxious. ”If it’s not about work, could it possibly be about personal conduct?”

The room, which had been serious until then, erupted into laughter at her words, with Ye Binglin chuckling off to the side.

Ye Bingyu shot him a sidelong glare, then cleared his throat and said, ”Sister-in-law, how could Big Brother ever have a personal conduct issue? You can be sure of that.”

Xia Dongxue’s brow furrowed. ”Just tell me what it is. Why are you all beating around the bush?”

Dragged back to the matter at hand, their expressions turned solemn again. Ye Bingyu, worried his wife couldn’t take the shock, knelt in front of her, resting his hands on her arms. ”Dongxue, Wen Yue isn’t our daughter.”

Upon hearing this, Xia Dongxue burst into laughter. ”You’re joking about our daughter now? Come on, what’s really happened?”

Ye Bingyu repeated, ”I’m not joking. Wen Yue truly isn’t our daughter. Our daughter is someone else.”

Xia Dongxue’s laughter froze on her face. It took her a moment before she could speak. ”What are you saying?”

Ye Bingyu quickly wrapped his arms around her. ”Please, don’t get worked up. Let me explain slowly.”

But Xia Dongxue couldn’t focus on anything else. ”What on earth are you talking about?” she asked, her voice rising. ”How could Wen Yue not be our daughter? Then where is our daughter?”

Ye Bingyu closed his eyes for a moment before recounting the events that had taken place in the delivery room when Xia Dongxue gave birth.

Xia Dongxue sat rigid, her face pale, staring at Ye Bingyu. ”You mean to say Qin Lijuan switched our daughter with Fang Zhichun’s daughter?”

Ye Bingyu nodded. ”Yes.”

Shivering all over, Xia Dongxue asked, ”Then why were Wen Yue and Wenjuan switched?”

Ye Bingyu explained, ”According to the blood types of the three children, it’s certain that an initial switch took place. As to why Wen Yue and Wenjuan were switched again, we’ll need to ask their respective families whether it was accidental or deliberate. We haven’t yet had the chance to investigate whether it was one family’s doing or if both families had someone in the know. However, this matter is too significant, so we felt it was crucial to inform you beforehand.”

Xia Dongxue’s mind was in chaos. She covered her head with her hands. ”How could this happen? If Wen Yue isn’t our daughter, then where is our daughter? Where is she?”

Ye Bingyu then relayed what the nurse had told him, as well as what his sister-in-law, Shi Jingfang, had said previously. ”Our daughter is now in the Northwest. Shi Jingfang has already found her and confirmed the mole and her blood type. She is indeed our daughter.”

Unable to hold back any longer, Xia Dongxue collapsed onto Ye Bingyu’s shoulder, crying. ”Will she blame us? Will she not want to recognize us?”

To be honest, Ye Bingyu didn’t know if their daughter would forgive them; after all, they were the ones who had lost her. What little they knew about their daughter’s life over the years came from his sister-in-law, Shi Jingfang. They hadn’t yet managed to investigate thoroughly, as Shi Jingfang herself only knew part of the story. ”She will,” Ye Bingyu said, his voice firm. ”We’ll work hard to earn her acknowledgment and seek her forgiveness. We will cherish her and treat her exceptionally well in the future. Even if she doesn’t forgive us right away, we’ll still do our best to be good to her. I believe that one day she will recognize and accept us.”

Tears streaming down her face, Xia Dongxue asked, ”Really?”

Ye Bingyu nodded solemnly. ”Really. As long as we are sincere with her, she will surely forgive us.”

At this point, Ye Binglin interjected, ”Sister-in-law, try to compose yourself. Let’s discuss what to do next.”

Ye Bingyu handed a handkerchief to his wife. ”Wipe your tears first,” he comforted.

Once Xia Dongxue had calmed down, they sat down to talk. Elder Master Ye was the first to speak. ”Now that everyone in our immediate family branch knows the truth,” he began, ”the question is this: should we inform Bingkun and your Second Uncle about the situation now? Or should we first investigate exactly how Wen Yue and Wenjuan came to be switched again before telling them?”
