Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 357: Chapter 357 She Must Learn Her Lesson

Before filming, Yunyi and Murong Linna were squatting and talking. No one could tell Yunyi was faking it; after all, in this bitterly cold weather, it wasn’t unusual to get a leg cramp after squatting for a while.

No one was blind; it was obvious this accident was Ding Yiman’s fault. She must have used an incredible amount of force to make herself fall like that.

Some muttered in low voices, ”Thank goodness Chuyunyi’s leg cramped. Otherwise, if that slap had landed, the one who fell would have been Chuyunyi.”

”What’s with Ding Yiman? The director just explained the scene to her and reminded her to pay attention to the details. She agreed readily enough, but then she immediately tried to pull a dirty trick.”

”Haven’t you seen how much Ding Yiman usually can’t stand Chuyunyi? She probably wanted to vent her anger, but the other girl had luck on her side, and Ding Yiman ended up harming herself instead.”

Ding Yiman had taken a hard fall, but when the director came over, he showed no sympathy. ”What’s wrong with you?” he demanded. ”How could an accident like this even happen?”

Ding Yiman tried to defend herself, ”Director, I just wanted to make the scene more realistic, so I added a little more force.”

As soon as she said this, Murong Linna, who was supporting Yunyi, laughed out loud. ”A little more force? Enough to make yourself fall from up there? You’ve got some nerve, lying so blatantly with everyone watching.”

She was close to Yunyi and couldn’t stand such genuinely petty people who resorted to underhanded tactics.

Ding Yiman wanted to say more, but Gui Kairong cut her off. ”Since you’re already in costume, this shot will only take a few seconds. Let’s finish it before anyone rests. We shouldn’t keep everyone waiting out here in this cold.”

At these words, Ding Yiman’s expression turned ugly. Although nothing more was said, everyone could tell the director was angry and had effectively pronounced her guilty.

Ignoring her expression, he turned to Yunyi. ”How are you? Is your leg better now?”

But no one noticed the slight smile that touched the corners of Gui Kairong’s lips. This girl is really sharp, he thought. If it had been someone else, they probably would have had to endure that slap. He truly admired this trait of hers, not one to suffer a loss.

With the director having spoken and so many eyes on her, Ding Yiman didn’t dare try any more tricks. The take was quickly approved.

However, for the next part of the scene, their roles were reversed. They moved to level ground, and this time, it was Yunyi’s turn to kick Ding Yiman.

The excitement gleaming in the corners of Yunyi’s eyes made Ding Yiman inexplicably uneasy. Before filming began, Ding Yiman said, somewhat unnaturally, ”Chuyunyi, I’m sorry about what happened earlier. It wasn’t intentional. I just wanted to make it look more realistic for the audience.”

Yunyi nodded. ”I understand. If the performance is too fake, the audience won’t buy it.”

But as soon as Yunyi said this, Ding Yiman grew even more unsettled.

This was their last scene together for the day, and they would be resting afterward anyway. Yunyi had no intention of letting her off. Since Ding Yiman dared to play dirty with her, Yunyi was determined to teach her a lesson she wouldn’t forget.

In the preceding dialogue part of the scene, both actresses performed well, and the atmosphere was built up perfectly.

Before Ding Yiman was fully ready, Yunyi delivered the kick. To everyone watching, Yunyi’s performance was spot-on; both the force behind it and the dramatic tension of her acting were excellent.

But for Ding Yiman, who was sent flying by the kick, things weren’t looking so good. She couldn’t get up for a long while, her leg feeling as if it had been broken. ”Chuyunyi,” she cried, ”you went too far!”

She yelled so loudly that everyone looked over.

Just then, the director also called, ”Cut! Excellent. Everyone worked hard today. That’s a wrap!”

Ding Yiman clutched her kicked leg, tears welling up from the pain. ”Director,” she cried, ”my leg... I think it’s broken! It hurts so much!”
