Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 382: Chapter 382 What Should I Do

Ye Wenyue didn’t know how to speak to her aunt, so she threw herself into Ye Binglan’s arms and started crying, ”Auntie, what should I do?”

Ye Binglan had never seen Wen Yue so distraught before, which took her by surprise. ”Don’t cry. What on earth happened? Tell your auntie everything, and I’ll help you sort this out.”

Ye Wenyue cried even harder, which left Ye Binglan utterly confused.

Only after Ye Wenyue had cried enough did she, between sobs, recount everything that had happened at home these past few days to Ye Binglan.

Ye Binglan was stunned. ”This kind of story from a drama, it actually happened in our family?”

She had wanted to say something else, but seeing Wen Yue’s ashen little face, she didn’t dare continue. Her own niece was now a niece from the third house instead of the main house—how unpredictable life could be.

After consoling Wen Yue for a while, she took her back to the Ye family ancestral home.

When Elder Master Ye saw his daughter followed by Wen Yue, his gaze was very complex.

He knew that the swap of his biological granddaughter had nothing to do with Wen Yue. Moreover, in his eyes, his second brother’s granddaughter was no different from his own granddaughter—they were all descendants of the Ye family.

But whenever he saw Wen Yue, he couldn’t help but think about that abandoned child, and his heart really ached. ”How did you two come across each other?”

Ye Binglan glanced at Wen Yue, her eyes red from crying, not quite sure why she felt compelled to say, ”I came across Wen Yue crying at the intersection up ahead, so I brought her back.”

Elder Master Ye had been tending to his flowers, but upon hearing this, he lost his desire to continue. ”Come sit down.”

He poured a glass of water for Wen Yue and handed it to her. ”Wen Yue, such an incident is hard to accept, but we can’t afford to get bogged down by it. After all, whether you are the child of the main house or the third house, you are still a child of our Ye family.”

Right, no matter which house’s child she was, she was still a granddaughter of the Ye family. That was better than Ye Wenjuan, who had become a complete outsider—truly the most awkward situation.

Elder Master Ye continued, ”Don’t think too much. Even if you go back to the third house, we will still care about your affairs.”

Ye Wenyue finally felt reassured by her grandfather’s words. ”Grandfather, I understand.”

Ye Wenyue was good at reading people’s expressions and knew her aunt must have something to discuss with her grandfather, so she stood up and said, ”Grandfather, Auntie, I have some things to take care of, so I’ll be leaving first.”

They nodded to Wen Yue and watched her leave the courtyard. Only then did they look away.

It was then that Ye Binglan asked, ”Dad, you don’t think my eldest brother and my third brother will grow apart because of this, do you?”

The three siblings and their second uncle’s son Bingkun had grown up together and were very close. In her heart, her cousin was just like her own brother.

Elder Master Ye glanced at his youngest daughter. ”What are you thinking about? Do you really see your eldest brother as so petty? Besides, it’s not your third brother’s doing. How could there be any rift between them?”

He knew his sons well. However, he was worried his eldest daughter-in-law might hold a grudge against the third house, as it was them who had benefitted. Meanwhile, his own granddaughter, whom he had never met, had been abandoned by the wife of his eldest son’s comrade-in-arms, Zhang Baosheng. Even if Zhang Baosheng was his eldest son’s comrade-in-arms, he couldn’t forgive his wife’s despicable deed.

Seeing her father getting upset, Ye Binglan quickly explained, ”Dad, that’s not what I meant.”

She then thought of what Wen Yue had just said. ”Did my eldest brother and his wife call back yet?”

Elder Master Ye shook his head. ”Not yet, but they should have met the child by now. Who knows if the child is willing to come back?”

He had been waiting for a call, but his mind was so agitated that he had turned to his flowers to distract himself.
