Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 351: Chapter 351 Missed a Conspiracy Against Her

Ye Binglin nodded. ”Since Jingfang knows about this, it’s fine for her to go. But Big Brother, shouldn’t we tell Sister-in-law in advance so she can be mentally prepared?”

Ye Bingyu shook his head after a long moment. ”Let’s keep it from her for now. You all know her health has never been good; I’m afraid she won’t be able to take it. Besides, if she finds out, how are she and Wen Yue supposed to interact before the results are out?”

After a moment of silence among the three, Elder Master Ye made the decision. ”Let’s not tell Dongxue for now. Let the mother and daughter enjoy some more good times together.”

Elder Master Ye knew that if this turned out to be true, the Ye Family couldn’t possibly let their own flesh and blood remain adrift outside; they would definitely bring her back. But once that child returned, Wen Yue’s position would become awkward. It would be impossible to let her stay in the Ye Family then. Yet, when he thought of Wen Yue’s sweet and obedient nature, he couldn’t bear the thought. After all, he had doted on her as she grew up, and this left him feeling rather conflicted and uneasy.

After sighing inwardly, he waved his hand at his two brothers. ”Alright, then. This matter should be handled sooner rather than later. If it’s true, we must bring the child back as soon as possible.”

Shi Jingfang had initially planned to leave immediately. However, after calling her daughter, Ye Wenhui, she found out that Yunyi wasn’t at Hua’an Farm Reclamation; she had gone to the Northwest with the film crew. Shi Jingfang had intended to wait for Yunyi’s return. But seeing the urgency in her eldest brother-in-law’s demeanor, she felt he couldn’t wait another day, so she bought a train ticket to the Northwest for the next day.

Meanwhile, Yunyi and the others had rested for two days, and the film crew was also ready.

After dinner, Yunyi went to the dressing room, did her own makeup, and then prepared to go wait in the wings.

Just as she left, Zhang Xueyan came in. She looked around but didn’t see the person she was looking for, so she hurriedly went back out.

As soon as she stepped out, she bumped squarely into someone at the corner. She was about to curse when she saw it was the person she was looking for. ”Where have you been?”

Makeup artist Xiao He, wincing from the painful bump, said, ”I just went to the bathroom. Why are you here?”

”If I hadn’t come, how would I know you haven’t taken what I asked you to do seriously at all?”

”Who says I haven’t? I haven’t even seen her yet. I promised you I’d do it, so I’ll definitely get it done. Don’t worry.”

”She finished her makeup and left ages ago! What’s the use of you coming back now?”

”No way! Filming hasn’t even started yet.”

”Why not? She’s already gone. I saw her when I came over. She’s probably already over there waiting in the wings.”

”It’s fine. It’s not like this will be shot in a single day. There’ll be plenty of opportunities.”

”You said it. I want to see results by tomorrow at the latest.”

”Alright, just you wait. I guarantee you’ll be satisfied.”

Yunyi, however, had no idea that by arriving so early, she had narrowly missed a plot targeting her.

When the director arrived, he saw only Yunyi in the waiting area. ”Why are you here?”

Yunyi stood up. ”I was notified that the first scene was mine. I have a habit of exercising early, so I came ahead of time.”

Hearing this, the director frowned. ”Did you misunderstand? I was thinking that since your scenes usually only need one take, I wanted you to get more rest this morning. So, I scheduled all of them for the afternoon.”

Even if Yunyi were slow on the uptake, she knew she’d been tricked. ”It’s alright,” she said. ”I can learn more by watching others perform.”

But Gui Kairong’s expression darkened. ”Don’t worry. I’ll get to the bottom of this for you.”

He usually didn’t concern himself with minor issues, but he understood perfectly well what had just happened. This was a film he was directing, and he absolutely would not tolerate unethical staff members in his crew.

With that, he beckoned someone over, whispered a few words in their ear, and then waved them off to take care of it.

Yunyi had initially planned to investigate on her own, but now it seemed unnecessary. Once the culprits were identified, she would deal with them directly. She wasn’t the type to suffer bullying without retaliating. She hadn’t provoked anyone in this film crew; she couldn’t think of anyone other than Zhang Xueyan who would do this. But since those people had made their move, she’d make sure to settle scores with every single one of them. She’d make them regret it bitterly. Let’s see if they’d dare to be so meddlesome in the future!
