Chapter 405: Parent-Child Spring Outing

After Mo Fei’s program aired, it caused quite a stir. The next day, media reports caught Tianmei’s PR department off guard. They hadn’t been informed by Mo Fei or Mo Xiaojuan at all and had no idea this would happen!

However, from Mo Fei’s side, they only received a vague response: “It’s nothing, just a misunderstanding. No need to clarify.”

If it was a misunderstanding, why not clarify it?

The PR manager was about to explode in frustration!

However, things didn’t turn out as chaotic as they had feared due to the rumors.

Now that Weibo was gaining prominence, more and more celebrities were opening verified accounts on the platform. People in the entertainment industry were gradually recognizing its importance as a bridge between stars and fans. The PR team also collected feedback from fans on Weibo. This time, however, the feedback they received was somewhat baffling.

Although some fans were upset about the rumors, surprisingly, majority chose to support the Mo Fei and Mu Li’ang “CP”!1

What was going on? Was the world changing too fast for them to keep up?

The PR team thought about it for a long time and could only reluctantly explain it by reasoning that these fans liked Mo Fei, so they liked her songs, and therefore also liked the person who wrote songs for her.

Since the fans weren’t making a fuss and Mo Fei didn’t seem to mind, they decided to let things be and allow the fans to continue pairing Mo Fei and Mu Li’ang as a couple!

People in the entertainment industry didn’t think a CP had any real connection to actual relationships—it was just another form of hype!

Since the fans were happy, let them have fun. Free publicity—why not?

……

When Mo Fei called Yang Yi, she even joked about the news, saying cheerfully, “Look, my fans really support us being together.”

Yang Yi found it amusing as well. These two simply treated the whole thing as a little prank, not taking it seriously at all and even finding it quite entertaining.

Yang Yi couldn’t attend Mo Fei’s first concert in Beijing because he was about to participate in a parent-child spring outing organized by the kindergarten with Xixi. He could only wait until next month when her second concert was held in Shanghai to show his support.

He even postponed his meeting with Ju Jie for this parent-child spring outing.

“Papa, hurry up, hurry up! We’re going to be late!” The little girl, wearing pink sneakers, ran into the living room, then turned back and called out anxiously, sounding urgent.

“Don’t worry, I’ll be driving. We won’t be late. Come, put on one another jacket.” Yang Yi was rummaging through the closet for clothes when he turned around and realized the little girl had already disappeared. He had no choice but to grab Xixi’s windbreaker and chase after her.

“I don’t want to wear it! It’s too hot.” Xixi quickly raised her hands to block it, pouting in protest.

She was already wearing two layers of base clothing, a red knitted sweater dress, and thick pants underneath. Although Jiangcheng still had some lingering spring chill, her outfit was warm enough.

“No, that won’t do. We’ll climb a mountain later, and it’ll be colder up there than at home or kindergarten, just like winter.” Yang Yi explained to his daughter. He had even packed a down jacket in his backpack for the little girl — just in case she managed to make it to the top, it might come in handy.

Xixi showed a bit of temper, but she was still obedient. Seeing her father’s insistence, she reluctantly stretched out her little arms and said with a hint of grievance, “Alright, but it won’t look pretty anymore!”

Turns out, she was a little girl who cared about her looks.

Yang Yi smiled and patted Xixi’s little head, saying, “Who says being pretty is only about wearing nice clothes? If you can grit your teeth and climb Tingshan Mountain with Papa today, all the way to the top, then you’ll be the prettiest little girl. A child who is hardworking, brave, and strong is the most beautiful! Everyone will give you a thumbs-up and say, ‘Xixi, you’re amazing!’”

“Really?” Xixi actually believed it. Her eyes sparkled as she looked at her father, full of anticipation.

Today, everyone gathered at the foot of Tingshan Mountain. Although Yang Yi and Xixi didn’t set out early, they arrived on time, neither too early nor too late, among the middle batch. Not long after, Yang Yi saw Lan Zhoukai, dressed like a professional mountaineer, getting out of his car with Lan Xin.

Yang Yi smiled and said, “Boss Lan, how do you have time to climb mountains with Xin’er?”

“Uncle Yang!” Before Lan Zhoukai could answer, Lan Xin broke free from his hand, shouting loudly and happily running over.

“Hey, Xin’er! Hello!” Yang Yi quickly bent down to catch her.

Lan Xin had grown much closer to Yang Yi. She immediately kissed Yang Yi on the cheek, making her father jealous. But she had an ulterior motive. After kissing him, she eagerly asked, “Uncle Yang, did you bring me something delicious?”

“Yes, yes! See how big a backpack I’m carrying? It’s just to bring you all something delicious.” Yang Yi laughed. “But you have to climb the mountain first before you can eat, not now.”

At this moment, Xixi became a little dissatisfied. The wind in the mountains was strong, and Yang Yi had put her windbreaker hood on, making her look like a little wooden puppet. She stiffly flailed her arms as she hopped around, her voice crisp as she called out, “Xin’er, you haven’t even said hi to me yet!”

“Xixi, I didn’t forget you…” After getting the answer she wanted, Lan Xin stopped clinging to Yang Yi. She giggled, hopped down, and took Xixi’s little hand. The two little girls huddled together again, chattering away excitedly.

Only then did Lan Zhoukai get a chance to speak. He coolly flipped his fisherman’s hat and said, “Parent-child activity, how could I not participate?”

“The Tingshan Mountain Five Peaks we’re climbing today is 600 meters high.” Yang Yi smiled slightly, looking at Lan Zhoukai.

For Yang Yi, climbing over the 600-meter mountain was as easy as eating or drinking. But for the chubby Lan Zhoukai and all the little kids, it would be quite a challenge.

“Oh, you’re underestimating me?” Lan Zhoukai proudly lifted his trekking pole and said, “See this? I won this as a prize in a hiking event organized by our company! Let me tell you, I’ve climbed not just the five peaks, but even the main peak!”

“Alright, alright, I believe you. Later, we’ll all climb up together with the kids, okay? Let them get some exercise!” Yang Yi laughed, patting Lan Zhoukai on the shoulder.

Soon, other children and their parents arrived.

Since today’s parent-child activity was mountain climbing, most of the attendees were fathers. Chen Shiyun was brought by her father, Chen Guoqiang, and Yang Luoqi was accompanied by her father, Yang Guo. Some came light-packed, while others carried backpacks with water and clothes.

Only Yang Yi was carrying a large hiking backpack, since he was bringing snacks for all the children. As soon as he arrived, almost every brave little child eagerly ran up to him, asking if he had brought something delicious.

Even little Yang Luoqi shyly asked, “Uncle Yang, c-can I eat lunch with you and Xixi? I really like the food you make.”

However, it seemed like one of Xixi’s little friends was missing today.

“Where’s Nan Zhaoyu?” Yang Yi noticed the absence of the little boy he had been somewhat wary of and asked curiously.
